23.01.2022 Now here something meaningful that our council rates or even a bank loan could be used for, a Community Access bus service for people with mobility needs.
23.01.2022 Like the scientists, Greenies don't give up. Despite 19 ecosystems on the brink of collapse in this country, action can still make a difference, It's not too late! But we need more people who care - please join us. https://contact-nsw.greens.org.au/civi/contribute/transact
21.01.2022 Worth planning and incorporating tree planting in the new urban housing developments to the north and west of Bathurst. While we are at it how about connecting these new urban developments with green corridors including cycleways and walking paths. Promoting health and wellbeing and providing an alternative to the only option of having to drive a car to get into town centre or anywhere in Bathurst.
16.01.2022 In the windows behind me are twelve people that the Australian government has imprisoned for years, just for seeking safety on our shores. Imagine what 7 years... of baseless imprisonment would do to your physical and mental health. It’s tough to imagine the pain - but this is life for people who have come to Australia seeking help. They must be released immediately.
15.01.2022 Bathurst Wiradyuri Elder Dinawan addresses the Save Our Park picnic on Sunday, March 7, 2021.
11.01.2022 Hey Siri, tell me about what ethics in journalism looks like
10.01.2022 It’s time to stop the influence of big polluting money on our democracy. Did you know... The fossil fuel industry gave $1.3 million in donations to major pol...itical parties in 2019/20? The top three fossil fuel funders were Clive Palmer’s Minerology, Woodside Energy, and the Minerals Council of Australia? Trevor St Baker, who has been promised taxpayer money to upgrade his Vales Point coal-fired power station, donated $84,250 to the major parties? Our government continues to defend the fossil fuel industry who are the root cause of the climate crisis we’re being thrown into. We need to ask ourselves why?! We deserve a stronger democracy - one that acts for the people - and to do that, we need to get big money out of politics! Something needs to change fast!
09.01.2022 Hi Folks, Below is the schedule for commencement of works by Bathurst Regional Council to the 8th March 2021 on the GoKart complex on Wiradyuri sacred grounds.... Has Bathurst Regional Council learnt nothing from Rio Tinto's destruction of the Juukan Gorge caves in the Pilbara? This is the same wanton destruction of Aboriginal heritage by an arrogant group of Councillors and senior Council staff, hell bent on providing a Go-kart complex for their elite mates. This is happening whilst there is still an ongoing Aboriginal Heritage Assessment process before the Federal Department of Environment. Just move the Go-kart complex!!!
07.01.2022 Excellent article by Katherine Murphy in today's The Guardian. "It remains enormously frustrating that a modest phalanx of Liberal women (configured into a squa...d, a cabinet taskforce, led by Marise Payne) has to be deemed responsible for helping blokes who should already get it blokes who possess all the means and opportunity of getting it to get it. It really would be better if the men running the government just got it without the set dressing because as it stands, women are being asked to deal with the problems created by their own marginalisation while at the same time being called upon to reprogram the people intent on perpetuating the conditions marginalising women."
03.01.2022 As part of the NSW government’s 2020 Coal Strategy eight NEW areas for coal exploration have been identified. This madness of new Coal mines in the midst of this Climate emergency beggars belief. Though, hardly surprising, given the fossil fuel industry has embedded itself with industry lobbyists working as MPs staff, and the political donations that wash through both Labor, Liberals and National Party's coffers.... It is up to us all to ensure our protect future generations from the self interest of the fossil fuel industry. We must stop this before it starts.
