24.01.2022 #Breaking $7.3m ICAC budget amends PASS upper house. This government is always saying they support the ICAC and want to see it well funded. Well today we have called their bluff. A Greens Budget amendment that will add $7.3 million in ICAC funding has just passed the NSW Upper House with the support of everyone BUT the Government.

23.01.2022 COVID regulations for Christmas This morning the Premier announced updated regulations for December 24, 25 and 26 across Sydney. Here are the key bits for events in your home in the inner west. The number of visitors allowed in a place of residence will be limited to 10 people. ... Primary school-aged children and younger will be allowed on top of the current 10 visitors cap for homes. On December 27, the inner west will revert to existing restrictions. It's not the start to the holidays that we wanted but these rules will help keep us all safe over the break. For a full explainer go to https://www.nsw.gov.au/media-re/restrictions-christmas-2020

22.01.2022 STOP explosive blasting planned for Leichhardt Just after we defeated a plan to use rock blasting in Annandale, WestConnex have secretly proposed to blast under homes in Leichhardt between MacKenzie and Norton Sreets. Thanks to the The Sydney Morning Herald for covering the increased risk of damage that blasting poses to properties over and above what is already being caused by conventional tunnelling. ... Now I'm calling on the government to abandon blasting across the whole tunnel route because residents have been through enough. Sign the petition >> www.jamieparker.org.au/blasting

22.01.2022 Yes! The fabulous new Aunty Kath Farrawell mural at the Glebe Youth Service Inc. has made the news this NAIDOC week. Check it out

20.01.2022 Our office will be closed from Thursday 24 December through Sunday 3 January as staff take some much needed leave. This year has brought challenging times for many in our community so please look out for each other and be safe over the holidays. Don't forget to wash your hands, wear a mask and get tested if you experience COVID-19 symptoms. See you in 2021.

19.01.2022 I’ll be laying a wreath today at a Remberance Day Ceremony. Loyalty Square, Balmain #lestweforget2020

19.01.2022 Changes are underway at Callan Park. One of the things we're asking for is a rejig of the rules around off-leash dog areas. Check out this great campaign from Callan Park Dog Lovers and sign the petition today

17.01.2022 Temperatures are set to crack 35C this weekend which means animals and birds will be looking for water wherever they can get it in the city. If you've got a yard, a balcony or even just a window sill please pop some water out for any and all of our native critters from today.

13.01.2022 Cheers to the Institute of Public Affairs for sending us a copy of your latest report. Since climate denial is absolute junk we filed it directly into the recycling bin where it belongs

10.01.2022 Just a day after she defended her government spending $250 million of public money to win elections, the Premier has just rejected our plan to deliver $7.3 million in extra funding to the ICAC. Everyone in this Parliament wants to make sure ICAC has the money it needs to tackle corruption except this government.

09.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR! Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2021. This year wasn’t anything like we expected by I’m grateful to everyone who demonstrated just how caring and thoughtful our community can be. ... Thank you to for the overwhelming support I’ve received this year that has helped us to achieve some remarkable wins. From 30 new electric buses for the inner west to an historic $10 million for Callan Park. Looking forward to a fantastic 2021 with so much to do. Finally, please be aware of the updated Covid restrictions and stay safe!

08.01.2022 Thanks to the Annandale Garden Centre for helping to beautify our balcony at NSW Parliament with some Australian natives. Fingers crossed they help attract some birds to our new bath too.

06.01.2022 Time for the Government to put their money where their mouth is. They say they support ICAC? They should have no trouble supporting our amendment give ICAC an additional $7.3 million now it’s passed the NSW Upper House.

05.01.2022 Fresh air ventilation facility for Sydney Metro West in Leichhardt Transport for NSW are proposing a fresh-air ventilation facility for their proposed underground railway line from Parramatta to the CBD. I want to be clear that it will ventilate a tunnel that contains an electric train which doesn’t produce emissions and won’t create pollution or have any impact on air quality. The facility will be around two storeys high with a base of about 20 x 20 meters and is being pro...posed for a small part of land next to the Leichhardt Oval number 2 near the Leichhardt Rowing Club. This type of infrastructure is essential to new public transport projects like the Sydney Metro. I support public transport because our community and our city need it. When I meet with Sydney Metro tomorrow I will be pushing them to deliver an upgrade to the run down and poorly maintained Council toilets at the base of Glover Street along the Bay Run and assisting Leichhardt Rowing Club if this project is going to proceed.

04.01.2022 30 hours of debate to defeat 249 pointless amendments from former Labor leader Mark Latham. This is the most ambitious energy plan in the country and it should be law in NSW by the end of the week. TY Abigail Boyd David Shoebridge Cate Faehrmann

02.01.2022 One of my last official engagements for the year was a pop in at Tony Mundine Hostel in Leichhardt to gift them two Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags. I had a chance to chat with Liz, Cristal and Terry about their work providing accommodation for Indigenous Australians who are pursuing a tertiary education. We're so lucky to have so many wonderful organisations like this right here in our community. A great note to end the year on.

01.01.2022 Save Glebe public housing More than 100 Glebe public housing tenants are set to have their homes demolished to make way for a massive new public/private development. If it goes ahead it will see public housing and public land sold off in order to fund tiny increases in accommodation while delivering bumper profits to private developers.
