23.01.2022 Vale - Kerri Burns It is with great sadness that the Club advises its members that Kerri Burns passed away on Thursday 10 September 2020 after suffering a heart attack. We all extend our sincerest condolences to Geoff, Chris, Daniel, Susan and Abbey and to her mother, Rhonda.... Kerri has been one of the Club’s most loyal and hard-working volunteers. She was universally well liked, admired and respected. When Kerri, Geoff, Chris and Daniel (and Wally and Rhonda) joined the Club it was all in’ for the Jets. It was a family effort which continued for some 25 years. When Chris and Daniel played Juniors, Kerri took up Junior match day duties including the team manager role. As Chris and Daniel progressed into Senior football, so did Kerri. She was one of the ladies committee members, helped organise functions, worked in the Canteen and helped with the Thursday night meals for many years. She was the time keeper for the Seniors for several years. She was the recipient of the Club Person of the Year award in 2004- the year of our first Premiership in A Grade. Kerri, Geoff and the family attended all the club’s functions over those many years. They were great company. We remember all those Premiership wins,- all those celebrations- great times and great memories. No one enjoyed or was more proud of the Premiership successes of her Sons and the other Senior players than Kerri. Kerri was a great friend to us all and a great member of our Club. It is so difficult to accept that she will not be with us in the future. To those in the Club who are close to Geoff, Chris and Daniel, stay close. Support them as they have supported the Club. Rest in Peace Kerri. The Committee, Players, Members and Supporters of the Greenvale Football Club, past and present.

20.01.2022 Darren Bewick Appointed Senior Coach The Club is very pleased to announce that former Essendon Star, Darren Bewick, has been appointed as the Club’s Senior Coach. Darren originally played in the WAFL in Western Australia. As a junior player, he was a standout, representing WA and was selected as an ALL Australian Representative. As a senior player, he played State of Origin for WA numerous times.... Darren played 238 games for Essendon under Kevin Sheedy. With him at Essendon at various times was Denis Pagan, Mark Thompson, Mark Williams, Neale Daniher, Robert Shaw and Mark Harvey who all became AFL Coaches in their own right. At a person level, he won 2 AFL Premierships, 3 Night Premierships, Best First Year Player and runner-up in the B & F. He was Vice- Captain for 2 years and was awarded Life Membership. Since retiring at the end of the 2000 Season, Darren has enjoyed an equally impressive Coaching career. He had a 2 year stint as the Coach of the Gippsland Power TAC Cup team. He then spent several years as Coach and Head of the Football Program at the Northern Territory Institute of Sport. He coached the U 18 team to the Division 2 Title at the Australian Championships in 2004. From 2005- 2009 Darren was privileged to be a Senior Assistant at Coach at North Melbourne. At various time he held roles as the midfield, forward-line and development coach whilst being a member of the Match Committee. North played finals in 3 of his 5 years. From 2010 to 2020 Darren was the very successful Head Coach of the Eastern Rangers TAC team. The team won one premiership in 2013 and also played in Grand finals in 2015 & 2019. Darren received the TAC Cup/NAB League Coach of the Year Award in 2013 & 2019. During his time coaching elite TAC level teams Darren has helped transition dozens of players into the AFL ranks. And now he has moved from being a Bomber to a Jet. The Club believes that Darren has all the skills and experience to develop our younger players and make our Senior team competitive with the best in the EDFL. When we get together- as soon as the Pandemic allows, lets make sure that we all welcome Darren and his family to the Club as we prepare for 2021 and the next phase of our Club’s journey. #JetFlyTogether
