24.01.2022 A reminder to all those who are interested in attending this workshop on Friday 26th, RSVP required by 23rd March 2021

24.01.2022 Always very pleased to see the monthly edition of the "Greenvale Crier" printed at my Charters Towers office and sent off to this great little town for distribu...tion. Well done to Judy Hawkes and co. for their efforts each month in making this happen. Keeping rural communities connected and informed is vital and a significant challenge in a time when traditional media formats, particularly newspapers, are under great pressure. I, like many locals, have still not got over the loss of the The Northern Miner newspaper in Charters Towers which was shut as part of News Corps' sweeping paper closures last year. Thankfully we still have The North West Star and ABC operating out at Mount Isa There are also a number of local community newsletters published across small towns in Traeger, and their existence is down to the efforts of a dedicated few. Well done to you all. - Robbie Katter MP #KAPteam #qldpol

19.01.2022 Thank you to all Queenslanders who have worked so hard to stop the spread of COVID-19. Weve put in a massive effort, and we need to keep up the hard work to av...oid any chance of a second wave. So its important to keep practising social distancing as much as possible, keep washing your hands regularly and thoroughly, stay home if youre sick and get tested if youre not feeling well.

11.01.2022 The Queensland Government recently launched a website to keep the public accurately informed about COVID-19. This website includes all the resources the public needs to know about COVID-19 and contains some really good facts and figures. The Australian Governments COVID-19 app is available for both iOS and Android systems by simply searching Coronavirus Australia in the relevant app store.

08.01.2022 WATER TARIFFS Charters Towers Regional Council is encouraging residents to check their water usage for the 2019/2020 period and decide if they need to cha...nge water tariffs during the annual Transfer Period. During this Period, residential property owners have until Monday, 17 August 2020 to change tariffs. The two options are either i) the allocation tariff or ii) two-part water tariff. On the allocation tariff, residents can use up to 750kL per annum before being charged excess water. The two-part tariff allows residents that dont use a lot of water to save money. Details on the two options are as follows: Option 1 Allocation Tariff Users are allocated 750 kilolitres (kL) of water per annum (4 units of water), with excess applying at a rate of $1.69 per kL for all water used after 750kLs. Recommended for users with consumption over 450kL per year. Option 2 Two Part Tariff First part: Fixed charge access (Network) fee per unit (4 units of water) levied in advance, 50% of charge per half yearly rate notice. Second part: Usage fee based on consumption of water per kL (excess threshold applies per unit) levied on the 1st half yearly rate notice in the year following the meter read. Properties with no meter, and no connection will be charged the Access Fee only. Recommended for users with consumption less than 450kL per year. ***Residents can check their usage by logging into MiWater https://charterstowers.miwater.co or by calling Councils Enquiry Hotline 07 4761 5500.*** Once the transfer period has closed, residents will not have the option to change until next years transfer period. Residents that are happy on their current tariff wont need to do anything. More information can be found at www.charterstowers.qld.gov.au/waterlevies where residents are able to complete a form online to make the change.

07.01.2022 Remembrance Day November 11th 2020 The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month attained a special significance in the post-war years. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. Students of the Greenvale State Primary School did an outstanding job this morning presenting Remembrance Day to VIP guests Mr John Cotter, North Queensland Sappers and Cr Sonia Bennetto, Deputy Mayo...r, Charters Towers. Also in attendance were members of the Greenvale Community as well as some out of town travellers. At the end of the service, Mr Cotter presented books to school captains Grace Simson and Mitchell Condon who accepted with gratitude on behalf of the Greenvale State School. Grace thanked Mr Cotter and Cr Bonito for attending. Morning tea followed. See more
