25.01.2022 Thanks to all kids and parents that made Mr Bunny feel welcome in our little community.

24.01.2022 Santa is here! He’s arrived safely from the North Pole to the secret location in Greenwell Point! Listen out for the siren and jingles as he enters your street Remeber - stay safe around moving vehicles and practice social distancing

24.01.2022 The brigade is currently attending power lines down on the Southern end of West Street. This section of road is closed to all traffic (foot traffic included). Please avoid the area and use Pyree/Comarong Street as a detour.

23.01.2022 T’was two nights before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. However.. For the last couple of months, the Santa Special Operations Team or SSOT, has been hard at work liaising with Santa’s management team namely Mrs Claus about Santa’s itinerary. Well everyone, great news. The special envoy to Mr Santa Claus, has just been in contact with the (SSOT) based in Greenwell Point with the fantastic news that Santa will be visiting ...our wonderful little community for the umpteenth time. Santa's Chief of Elves, asked that the following message from Santa is passed to the community. "Santa is so excited to be coming back to Greenwell Point again this year. It is one of his final calls before leaving to visit all the other children before dawn on Christmas day. Mr Claus added. "My flight plan has been approved and I will be entering Australian Airspace on the 24th Dec. As in times past, I will be given unrestricted clearance by the wonderful controllers at Sydney Air Traffic Control so that I can land my sleigh in an undisclosed secret landing site, somewhere near Greenwell Point. This special place is maintained for Santa’s exclusive use by the SSOT. The SSOT will then take Santa around Greenwell Point so that he can see all the kids, and of course the mums and dads, cause even mums and dads love Santa. Santa will be taken around the northern side of the village first from around 4:30 pm starting at Titania Park near the wharf, and then visiting all the streets. Santa will then have a short break (cause it’s hot in that big red suit) and start his visit around the southern part of the village from 5:30 pm. Listen out for the Christmas music when he is in your street. Once Santa has been escorted around the village by the Fire Brigade, the SSOT will return Santa back to the secret spot so that he can continue on his way to bring the joy of Christmas to all the other kids. As in years past a few of his reindeer decided to see what all the fuss was about and went wandering around the village. Interesting Christmas fact: The names of Santa’s reindeer Blitzen, Clyde, Comet, Cupid, Dancer, Dasher, Donner, Prancer, Rudolph, and Vixen. Rudolph was added to comply with FAA lighting requirements for aircraft. "Rudolf is very inquisitive and sometimes he will take some of the other reindeer with him, last year it was Dasher, Donner and Cupid. They were again found in Lenore St enjoying themselves in Mr & Mrs Milnes vegie garden. So, Santa has asked that if anyone sees some reindeer exploring the village, just entice them with some carrots into your back yard. The SSOT will be there as soon as they can so that Santa can continue on his way. Santa Clause is coming to town! Merry Christmas to all. See more

10.01.2022 Today marks the official end to the quietest fire season in more than a decade, a welcome and stark contrast to last year. This season, NSW RFS members have res...ponded to just over 5,500 bush and grass fires that have burnt 30,963 hectares across NSW, considerably less than the 11,400 fires and 5.5 million hectares lost last season. Thank you to our incredible members who continuously step up to help when called upon, protecting communities across the state

09.01.2022 Burn notifications now live Members of the community can now lodge their burn notifications online and it’s already proving popular. The new online portal giving NSW residents the ability to quickly and easily notify us of when they’re planning to use fire on their property is now live. Members of the public can now use their mobile phone or desktop computer to lodge their notifications about planned hazard reductions or burn offs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at www.rfs.n...sw.gov.au/notify. Since going live in early August, the module has been used more than 7000 times, with as many as 730 notifications being lodged each day. The new module is aimed at providing a single point of truth about burns being conducted by the community, and help to reduce unnecessary emergency calls. Any questions about the new portal and module can be sent to [email protected].

07.01.2022 Congratulations everyone. Particularly to our new VFs Sam, Tony, Luke and Phil

06.01.2022 Some Greenwell Point locals may have seen a Rural Fire Service fire boat on the river yesterday morning. 9 brigade members got he opportunity to familiarise themselves with the equipment/layout and function of the vessel. Current boat license holders also got the opportunity to drive/operate the vessel. A great morning was had by all. Additionally members that participated in the fires earlier this year were presented with the NSW Premiers Citation. Senior Deputy Captain Rebecca Wirth was also the recipient of the NSW Long Service Medal presented for 10 years of exceptional service to both the community and the NSWRFS. Well done to all.
