25.01.2022 Water play - the only way to celebrate the end of the year
25.01.2022 What a great first day back in care! We talked about the colour brown, as part of our focussed group time this morning. This discussion revolved mainly around that brown things and as a colour, is boring. We painted brown banksia pods and pine cones in an effort to incorporate some more exciting colours. The children also thoroughly explored the outdoor area, playing with the new resources for most of the morning. We read some books on kindness and completed a yoga activity before rest time. The children are surprisingly flexible and competent at most basic yoga moves!
24.01.2022 Another fantastic morning, visiting Open Arms Family Day Care
24.01.2022 What a busy morning! We headed to Bunnings to select some seedlings and plants. Our hope is to plant some in our own veggie garden, and some in the Community Garden on our street. Its a lovely, collaborative endeavour, where anyone in the community can take from the garden so long as they contribute and tend to it. The children have also been very interested in cooking over the past few weeks. Threading rods have become fruit kebabs, we have made all kinds of imaginary soups, and playdough quickly became cupcakes with candles. We brainstormed some healthy treats we could make and then went to Woolworths to buy our ingredients.
22.01.2022 Hard at work in the outdoor kitchen. The children are already busy making soup, tea, cake and smoothies

20.01.2022 Love our extended day care family! Anyone who follows this page knows that we regularly get together with Miss Sarah and her crew at Open Arms Family Day Care. Its wonderful to see the children in my care develop friendships with children outside of our immediate tribe, and to watch them explore and grow together.
18.01.2022 Theres nothing better than home made ice blocks on a sunny day
17.01.2022 Our little nature lovers wanted to give our Christmas wreath a new take on life. What a fantastic job; its beautiful!
16.01.2022 Just a quick gratitude post for my families in care. I chose to be a family day care educator to be able to work with amazing children and families, while still being present for my own family. Flexibility has been key to creating a successful business, with give and take between both families and myself. I really appreciate the families I have in care, as this week has incorporated a take moment on my behalf. Thank you so much to my amazing families for being flexible and understanding as I close the business for a few days to celebrate this next chapter of my life. Being able to say I do this weekend with your support and flexibility has been so important to me. You are all amazing people, both past and present families, and I am so grateful for you.
16.01.2022 Nothing like a bit of water play and Christmas craft on a drizzly morning
15.01.2022 Love watching the younger and older kids playing together. They learn so much from each other, modelling behaviours for sharing, collaboration and creativity.
15.01.2022 How lucky are we, to have such great attractions nearby?! Yesterday, we visited Snakes Down Under Reptile Park, where we had a fantastic time looking at snakes, lizards, crocodiles, turtles, emus and kangaroos. There were even some cheeky meerkats for us to look at!
14.01.2022 Great morning at Gumnut Kids Playgroup earlier in the week
14.01.2022 What a lovely morning for a play at the park
13.01.2022 Hot, summer days are made for fun at the waterpark!
11.01.2022 Chinese New Year painting. We watched a short video this morning, explaining why and how we celebrate Chinese New Year. It also explained the Chinese zodiac, and that this year is the Year of the Pig. Some of our little friends thought that was really weird - having a year celebrating a piggy! We also did some firework painting, which was super fun!
11.01.2022 Meet Bill, the incredibly cute little caterpillar that the children found this morning. They were immediately concerned with finding him an appropriate home in the garden, and began plying him with leaves - they were worried that he was not eating enough and this was why he was so tiny!
11.01.2022 We are all about inclusion and community. What an amazing opportunity for Carinbundi Kids Family Day Care, children and Educators. We love watching the children play, learn and grow.
09.01.2022 What a fantastic morning! We loved having children and other educators over for a play. The kids did so well despite the heat, and played beautifully together, engaging in painting, making necklaces, gathering and identifying natural objects, climbing and using their imaginations. 09.01.2022 We are well and truly in the swing of Christmas here! Craft and decorating has become a major part of our daily programme, and it has been a joy to see the children independently engage with the activities
08.01.2022 We had a great morning meeting some tooth fairies - Twinkle and Sparkle. We learnt about how to brush our teeth, what foods are good for our teeth and read a story about going to the dentist. Twinkle and Sparkle even had presents for us; some tooth care kits! We were very lucky and had some special fairy dust sprinkled in our hair so that we could listen to all of their tooth fairy secrets!
06.01.2022 An activity we are regularly incorporating into our routine is yoga. The children take turns to select a card and attempt to lead the group in completing the position. The children have a lot of fun trying to mimic the pictures!
06.01.2022 We are back into the swing of things today, after a two week break. The Christmas period was a lovely chance to catch up with family and friends, and to also enhance the daycare environment
06.01.2022 It was a nature soup kind of afternoon. The children resourced their own ingredients - picking herbs, leaves and flowers from the garden and mixing it all together with coloured water.
05.01.2022 The children have become increasingly interested in the beach and ocean animals, so today we journeyed to our local beach to investigate. We played at the park, walked along the beach, examined rock pools and collected cuttlefish. We even had a sneaky ice cream treat! What a wonderful day!
05.01.2022 We love visiting Miss Sarah at Open Arms Family Day Care!
04.01.2022 A wonderful Christmas breakup at BCON Ministry Centre
04.01.2022 Thanks for visiting, Miss Sarah and Miss Jaime. What a great, hands on morning!
04.01.2022 As the year draws to a close, I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday. These holidays are a chance to celebrate with loved ones, to pause and reflect on the many blessings in our lives, and to remember to continue our journey with gratitude and kindness. It has been an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling year, and I thank all of my families for their support and faith in Greenwood Family Day Care this year. Heres to an even better 2019! See you all when we reopen on the 7th of January.
03.01.2022 Fun in the sun with these three amigos
03.01.2022 One of the families in care kindly gifted us some mangoes from their tree. What better way to fuel our bodies than delicious mango smoothies?!
02.01.2022 The children here at Greenwood are avid gardeners; they love digging, planting and watering. Earlier this week, we planted some seeds which will (hopefully) be able to be transplanted into our veggie garden It was also Mr Zs birthday! We had a special birthday ice cream treat
02.01.2022 We had a great time at playgroup this morning! Carinbundi Day Services clients and staff held a Playgroup for our children to attend. It was beautiful to see people of different ages and abilities engage with the children, and to see the children compassionately and enthusiastically respond.
02.01.2022 With the year drawing to a close, the children and I decided to brainstorm ideas for our Christmas break up party. Miss A, Mr I, Mr Z and Mr W thought about what foods they have eaten at parties before, and what they would like to eat at our party. They also carefully thought about what activities and games make a great party. We then set off to buy our supplies, ready to have an amazing, child focussed party! Note: Party planning and Christmas shopping are exhausting, according to my wonderful helpers. An ice cream treat was needed to refuel their tanks in order to complete our task. Purchasing water slide limbo was also essential, they told me very earnestly
01.01.2022 We continued to explore how we can make brown things more exciting. We gathered leaves and flowers from our garden and pressed them into the clay, making beautiful prints.
