25.01.2022 Tonight she goes to her first drive in since getting back on the road...not sure how we are suppose to fit another car beside us with the barn doors..... oh well.

25.01.2022 Today....windscreen wipers on, steering wheel off....again....trying to get horn to work.

24.01.2022 So today the van went for its first club run. To say I was nervous was an under statement. I felt for sure we were going to break down somewhere....but hurray...we made it...and we met a lot of really nice people.... As soon as I opened the door the window winder fell off, and of course a small group witnessed our downfall. I was so embarrassed, but then 'Jim' (a fellow vanner) yells out that his does the same, instantly making me feel better. This group (a mix of Sunstate & Majestic Vanner clubs) were so helpful, great to speak to, and a world of advice. Refreshing compared to my past experiences to say the least. A big thank you to Chris, who could not make the run, but who kindly asked Joan the job of 'taking care of us', she was amazing and makes the best rocky road.! Craig and I had such a wonderful day. She may not be completely finished, but we'll be back for another club ride...that's for sure.

23.01.2022 There is no god, that or he hates me. After 4 years rebuilding the xb, the day I get the safety certificate and can get her registered. Craig ends up in hospital! Now I just have to decide whether I leave him here to Uber it home and go get my car registered, or not.....hmmmmm.

23.01.2022 After a good sleep in to recover I am so happy to share some super news. (Caution long post) The VanIn had 90+ entries and over 1000 visitors, it was a credit to the events committee. They did an amazing job. Craig (husband), Franklin (dog) and I popped back to the campgrounds to have a chat with some members after the show and we were not going to stay as late as we did but...certainly glad we did.... I didnt go up to enter any comps, just to checkout other cars and get some ideas, but thanks to Chris for pushing me, because.... My big green lump won 'Born Again Virgin' - Most popular Stock/ Original, in the VanIn Show and Shine, voted on by the other entrants ( which I was super chuffed about). And the 'Encouragement Award' from Sunstate Panelvans. I'm not one for car shows and trophies, and restoring dads car was certainly not for Show and Shines, but I have to admit that I am so grateful for the votes, other entrants interest and the recognition. It means so much to both dad and I with all we've been through. You'll never know how much. The members were so nice to talk to, no pretentiousness, and very welcoming. A big thankyou to Rusty, Chris and Bill, Joan and Bob. Just a beautiful day all round. We ended up pulling out of Hervey Bay at 9.30pm and finally jumping into a very welcoming bed just after midnight, safe and sound. A day I will never forget. Hopefully I'll be able to share more photos of the day soon.

21.01.2022 Now if I can just get the horn to work, we'll be able to get registered........hmmmmm

21.01.2022 Today she came home....few wrinkles to iron out but hey, she is home.

19.01.2022 Finished off the console on the weekend. Quite happy with how it has turned out. Now just waiting for the upholster to give me a buzz and she'll go in for her hood lining.

18.01.2022 Ohhh and here is a little video of everyone.....we were out numbered and the only Ford panelvan.

18.01.2022 Well we made it, and it has been an awesome day! Organizers, members and the general public have all been sooo nice. So many people had some really wonderful things to say ... We'll pop back to the campgrounds to see everyone when they are finished here and then we'll look at heading home.

18.01.2022 Feeling very deflated this afternoon. The automotive upholstery business that I contacted over 8 weeks ago, (and then called almost every week to check where he was up to and when he could fit the van in) has decided to NOW let me know that he is retiring as of tomorrow. Only that I actually popped in to see him this afternoon, otherwise I would have been none the wiser.... I do sincerely hope he enjoys his retirement..... but it would have been nice if he could have let me know a few weeks ago so that I was not hanging around waiting for him. Yet another brick wall I have hit, kinda getting use to it now. Onwards and upwards,,,,now to find another upholsterer.

17.01.2022 Today....rainy but having her at home made it a lot easier to work on things. Played a bit more with lining up panels and door glass. Banished my rear blinker light gremlins and hooked up the number plate light. And put on a shiny set of dress rims...very fancy.

17.01.2022 Covid slightly relaxed, so I jumped at the chance to finish a bit more of the van. I've been finishing the grill at home and hoped to pop it on, but alas a stubborn front bumper would not allow. Need to do more adjusting and we'll try again.

16.01.2022 And found an old radio so we popped that in too. No more hole in the dash

14.01.2022 It has been a couple of weeks since I posted. But I have been busy....promise. Having her at home now and not in my patents backyard means I can work to the wee hours of the night if I like. Seriously missing my dads ridiculously fabulous shed and all the tools that go with it...but never the less it makes it easier to work at night.... I've popped in some sound and sprayed the surround in the hamertone so it blends in a bit more. And being a tad handy on a sewing machine ( if I do say so myself)...added some retro green curtains. Youre either going to love them or hate them. I love them! Besides ....a girl and her ride are going to need some privacy if we are to be driving to Parkes for the Van Nationals in 2021....aren't we

13.01.2022 That was fast! Only dropped her into Stuart at ACI Upholstery yesterday, and he called me today to say she was ready. And wow does it look good.... He said it was one of the hardest to do, but he did an amazing job. Off white moon crater, just as she came off the factory floor, but he added insulation between the roof and liner which was not a bad idea at all. Could not be happier and highly recommend ACI Upholstery!

11.01.2022 Bit of work on the van today. Dragged out the visor, cleaned up the best I could and popped it on.

11.01.2022 Thanks to the team at Majestic Vanners and Sunstate for a day I will never forget. Thanks also to the amazing Amy for her awesome.e photos.

09.01.2022 Just have to add the badges and then this will one very cute arse!

06.01.2022 Today Isasah from brisbane autoglass came back and installed the windscreen. It was good to see that there was no rust under the glass. Looks a bit brown, but it was just surface. So super happy. Isasah, you are the greatest!

05.01.2022 Led headlights popped in today. Off to Yatala Drive In tonight

02.01.2022 Seeing that our family got back from a two week trip to Winton a couple of days early .....I thought hubby and I would take a sneaky drive up to Hervey Bay for the Qld VanIn. Happy to say we have made it to Gympie. Fingers crossed we can do the last short sting to the bay.

02.01.2022 So this afternoon this happened... One of the happiest days of my life. THAT'S dad, signing the papers to put her in my name, and THAT'S my new club rego plates! YES I cried when the Dept Trans man handed me the plates ( I think he had his other hand on the security button)... And YES I then proceeded to tell everyone in the Covid lineup outside Dept Trans, showing them my plates and telling them how just how god damn happy I was. This is my year of YES....and if I want to cry with joy in front of a group of strangers at the Dept Trans....I will!

01.01.2022 After 4yrs filled with many 'hard times', days like today make it all worth it. A Majestic Vanners club run out to Harrisville. The members could not have been nicer. It makes the last 4yrs completely worth it.... She ran beautifully. Still a little bit more to go, but we'll keep working on it. Oh and we took the Labrador. Dad always had a black Labrador in the back.....it felt good.
