Something as simple as a foam roller can serve as a cue for individuals to change their habits and behaviors to ultimately improve their symptoms. How? Assume you experience neck pain or some other symptoms during prolonged sitting. Keeping a foam roller nearby can serve as a cue to get up and perform this routine. Eventually that cue might turn into a habit and that habit might not even require a foam roller. Instead, you’ve developed the habit to simply get up and move; it’s become part of your lifestyle. Obviously this exact routine only works if you’re able to take breaks throughout the day, but it still can be implemented on weekends or nights if you find yourself spending a lot of time in front of a screen that contributes to your symptoms. I understand that some people don’t get up and move because they’re unable to, but many others have just created a habit out of it. See more
