25.01.2022 Hi Sunshine Coast locals. If you are wondering where your sensor cleaning man is here is the answer. In the Kimberley's, WA right now. But I'll be back, I promise. Just can't say exactly when atm.

25.01.2022 Just love my home town. So much to see and do.

24.01.2022 A slow shutter panning exposure to capture some detail in the surfer, particularly his face and showing motion in much of the image.

22.01.2022 Nature abounds here.

22.01.2022 Mould & Fungus thrive in dark, humid environments. Living where we do and being a camera service provider, I see lots of my clients treasured equipment affected due to our environment and inappropriate storage conditions. It is time I stepped up and provided some information to help my fellow photographers. Here is a link to a page on my website where you can download a pdf file relating to camera storage. https://www.greglarchinphotographer.com.au/camera-storage.h

21.01.2022 I've been featuring the infrastructure that is the Ord River Irrigation Scheme. This is where the water is used, cropping in otherwise dry land. Water is fed via a siphon tube to the crop. How good would it be to have something like this for outback Queensland?

21.01.2022 Old, new, reflections, newer

20.01.2022 I couldn't resist the reflections in the still water.

19.01.2022 How's your focus? Are you getting focus where you intended? Will my calibration service work for you? Contact me via this page for further details.

19.01.2022 Are you seeing spots in your images? Does your DSLR or Mirrorless camera need a clean? Message me via this page for further details.

18.01.2022 To my camera service clients, my wife and I have sold our home of 20 years and we are now busy packing. There will be limited availability for approximately 2 weeks and then no service until further notice. That may be mid March. If you need service urgently feel free to contact me and we'll see if we can fit you in. For things that can wait I would be appreciative if you can hold off for now.

18.01.2022 Lines, repetition, form

17.01.2022 SOLD! A friend has this for sale. I have just serviced it and it is in great condition with a low shutter count. I use one of these bodies for 90% of my photography and can vouch for the extraordinary image quality these cameras are capable of. There's also a selection of lenses if you want something to pair it with. Initial enquiries can be made to me.

17.01.2022 Are your images clear and free of spots? If not it may be time for a sensor clean. More information here: https://www.greglarchinphotographer.com.au/sensor-cleaning..

17.01.2022 A friend is selling this.

17.01.2022 Look what arrived yesterday afternoon!

17.01.2022 The Australian War Memorial Canberra. In honour of all who have served.

17.01.2022 The scale of the transport of iron ore through Port Hedland has to be seen to be believed. These trains are nearly 3 kms long and they come by every 15 minutes or so.

17.01.2022 Basic tripod in good condition.

17.01.2022 Lake Argyle, an engineering marvel. Something like this would be great for outback Queensland.

17.01.2022 A small sample of something new coming our way.

17.01.2022 Litchfield National Park as seen from Tolmer Falls.

16.01.2022 Another day dawns at Gipsy Plains near Cloncurry. This was taken last year. I wonder what their countryside looks like now following the dreadful floods and stock losses they have endured?

15.01.2022 The Kite Surfers came out to Play!

15.01.2022 Do you need a sensor cleaning service? Spaces available this weekend and next week.

14.01.2022 Since resuming camera services a couple of weeks ago the rush has slowed to a trickle so time for me to head off and give my own cameras a workout. Last day for camera services will be Saturday, April 10th and will resume about May 28th.

14.01.2022 Lake Argyle. This small rock and earth wall holds back a water storage 25 times that of Sydney Harbour. The materials were quarried from a site a couple of hundred metres away.

13.01.2022 Shoot it, process it, mat it and make a frame for it. The whole job in house. This is my first one with 2 more on the way.

13.01.2022 One In A Million ~ Ross McCowan ~ I photographed Ross as part my involvement in the AIPP Reflections project and I was privileged to hear some of Ross' stor...y. Following the Japanese surrender Ross was a member of the liberating forces sent into Borneo to round up Japanese soldiers and to march them to waiting ships for processing and imprisonment prior to repatriation. Paul Ham is author of the book 'Sandakan' which tells the story of the imprisonment and treatment of our POW's by the Japanese and goes on to post surrender. Ross is mentioned in the book, a copy of which he brought to his session. A page from the book features in the first comment. #aipp #aippreflections #reflectionsproject #ww2 #75years

11.01.2022 They come from far and wide but this one has come further than most. All the way from Nottinghamshire, England this much loved Canon 1D Mk3 is here for the second time. It's an annual affair. I am honoured that @derekspics chooses me to service his treasured gear.

10.01.2022 A friend is selling this. I have just cleaned the external glass, the lens mount and the electrical contacts. It appears to be clear, no damage, no fungus. You can make initial enquiries to me if you wish.

10.01.2022 Non symmetrical design captured in symmetrical composition.

10.01.2022 I highly recommend Greg for his professional service in callibration of lens and camera. He is very thorough and knowledgeable and takes his time to answer questions, and share tips and advice on how to get the best out of your gear.

09.01.2022 Are you capturing correct focus where you want it? If not the cause may be incorrect focus calibration of your camera/lens combination. More information here: https://www.greglarchinphotographer.com.au/focus-calibratio.

09.01.2022 Another long distance relationship. I've just serviced this Nikon D500. Its owner lives in Mackay QLD but I last serviced it in Albany WA in 2018. Thank you to its keeper for going the extra mile to bring it to me.

07.01.2022 A friend is selling this. I've seen it and it is in great condition.

07.01.2022 I am often asked "How do I know when my sensor needs cleaning"? Here's a simple test. Make a correctly exposed image of clear blue sky at a small aperture, f22 is ideal. Best to not use a wide angle lens. 50mm and longer is good. Also best if it is defocussed. To achieve the latter lock focus on a nearby object and then re-frame to the sky. Open the image on your computer and increase the contrast. Adjust the brightness up and down to best find the dust spots. Here's a sample image. I've circled the spots in red to help you find them. Of course you can always bring to me and I will do it for you.

06.01.2022 An afternoon spent updating my website.

06.01.2022 IN RELATION TO COVID-19 I am continuing on with my camera services but making a few changes effective tomorrow morning for our mutual protection. 1/ There will be a drop off/pick up point just inside the front door where we can maintain the mandated distance. We will no longer meet in the confines of my workroom.... 2/ I am implementing protective measures by way of surface cleaning, observing contagion periods before handling your equipment and the use of PPE . 3/ All before and after test images, service reports and invoices will be sent electronically on completion and prior to collection. 4/ All payment will be via direct credit to my bank account prior to collection. I am suspending cash and card payments for now. In some instances turnaround times may be slightly extended and we can discuss your needs and my ability to meet those at the time of booking. In time we will resume our normal ways but for now these measures should help to protect us all. If anyone has any concerns or suggestions please do not hesitate to contact me.

06.01.2022 The purpose of the Ord River scheme was to be able to utilise fertile land that was otherwise not possible due to the prolonged dry season. Here it is in action.

05.01.2022 SOLD! A friend is selling this. I have just cleaned the external glass, the lens mount and the electrical contacts. It appears to be clear, no damage, no fungus. You can make initial enquiries to me if you wish.

You can phone, pm or use the contact form on my website, whatever suits you. We just need to ensure I give you the new address at Forest Glen.

02.01.2022 The Diversion Dam is part of the Ord River Irrigation Scheme. It is located 40 kilometres downstream from the Ord River Dam. Its function is to hold back water released by the Ord River Dam and divert it to the Ivanhoe Plains for crop irrigation.
