25.01.2022 Spring is here and the gardens are looking spectacular. The best they have looked for a number of years. What a difference rain makes! Took a walk through my garden to take photos and thought I would share them. Cheers, Chris

22.01.2022 Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas full of family, friends, fun, laughter and happiness. The Club is in recess till March 2020. Have a lovely break and thank you all for your support throughout 2019. Cheers, Chris
22.01.2022 Our Eagle Sculpture is still doing the rounds on the Art Trail Site. Close to 900 likes. Keeping Grenfell on the map!
22.01.2022 Stage two of Grenfell Garden Clubs community sculpture project is almost complete. The Council are installing the sculpted gazania flowers, (which will complement the eagle structure) today. The Garden Club commissioned local sculptor, Kathleen McCue to design and produce these amazing works of art, from money raised from Open Gardens. Money which the Club continues to put back into the community. We would like to publicly thank the Weddin Shire Council for their support with this major project and also Kathleen, who has put so much time and effort into sculpting these wonderful works of art for locals and tourists to enjoy.
19.01.2022 An Update We have now sold our beautiful house and garden and are moving to Port Macquarie. It's pretty hard knowing we will be leaving Grenfell and all our beautiful friends after 34 years, but the coast is calling us back. At this stage there is noone to take on the position of President of the Grenfell Garden Club, but Jenny Wells has taken possession of the President Manuel and my briefcase, so if anyone is interested in taking on the position of President, please co...ntact Jenny. It has been such a pleasure being a member and President of a Garden Club full of such lovely like-minded people who enjoy gardens and nature as much as myself.. I wish the Grenfell Garden Club all the very best for the future. Cheers, Chris See more
19.01.2022 A wander around the open gardens in Grenfell yesterday revealed some beautiful blooms even though its been so dry. Thankyou to everyone who made this day a success.
18.01.2022 Thank you Cherie and Graham Pattrick for hosting yesterdays Garden Club meeting at your home and allowing us to enjoy your beautiful garden. 16.01.2022 The gazania sculpture is set in its position next to the eagle sculpture and now waiting for the Weddin Shire to further beautify it with suitable plantings in the surrounding garden. The Club has been advised that this area has been designated to the Councils Trainee Gardener to design and maintain as part of her TAFE course. Photo taken by Jenn Graham.

15.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT There will not be a Garden Club meeting next Tuesday due to the Covid19 restrictions and our duty of care to keep members safe. With the uncertainty of the future months, the AGM, which was to be held in August, has been deferred till September providing the CV restrictions have eased. The 2020 Open Gardens in October is still on the agenda, but will be reviewed at the end of July. If anyone is interested in putting their garden in the 2020 Open Gardens, should it go ahead, please phone me (Chris) on 63431313.

14.01.2022 The first meeting of The Grenfell Garden Club 2021 was held at Judy Spedding's place on Tuesday 2nd March at 10am. Jenny Wells and Sue Dunlop chaired the meeting. The position of club President is still vacant. 3 new members Jan Holland, Sue Triggs and Margo Taylor were warmly welcomed. There were discussions about visits to various places and a possible bus trip out of town. Julie Armstrong will investigate the possibility of the club funding a renovation of a heritage sign ...in town. Lorrette Walmsley suggested the club have a stall at the Grenfell Show this year to raise the profile of the club and attract new members, which was agreed upon by members. We encourage everyone to pot a few plants to help make the stall well stocked and interesting. The next meeting will be held at Julie Armstrong's home on 6th April at 2pm. Novelty will be an old teapot. A short demonstration of flower arranging by Julie and Ruth will follow the meeting. Judy Spedding also would like someone to demonstrate wreath making out of vines. I will construct some wire bases for the day. If any members have some fresh grape vine prunings; willow or any other soft vine could they bring them along. (Maybe these could be sold at our stall at the show) A card has been sent to member Robert Maxwell who recently suffered a stroke. We are all saddened by this news as Robert has contributed greatly his botanical knowledge and love of gardening to the club over many years. Members enjoyed a sumptuous morning tea and a stroll around Judy's garden. Thankyou Judy and Peter for hosting. Happy Gardening Kathleen McCue Publicity officer See more

08.01.2022 Due to the current uncertainty regarding Covid19, and our commitment to keeping members safe, the Garden Clubs AGM is postponed till 2021 with the current Executive and Office Bearers continuing on in their roles. Members will be notified through the media of future monthly meetings. Unfortunately, the 2020 Open Gardens has had to be cancelled due to the Covid 19 situation and concern about exposing home owners and the public. We wish everyone good health and stay safe.
08.01.2022 I thought members might like to see a document sent to me last week acknowledging the Eagle project.
07.01.2022 Stop Press! We now have Garden Number 7 entered in our Open Gardens. It is a late entry and not on the already printed brochure, but information will be available at the Tourist Info Center and from each garden on the day. A list of gardens will be published shortly.
07.01.2022 What a lovely morning meeting we had yesterday at the home of Donna and Andrew Robinson. Such a beautiful home and garden and the view was amazing. A gracious, hospitable couple who were so welcoming. Thank you both so much, once again. Members then enjoyed the Red Cross, Melbourne Cup luncheon at the Country Club.
07.01.2022 Great news! Our two seats have arrived and are at the Railway Station waiting to be installed. The seats are being donated to the community by the Grenfell Garden Club from money raised at the 2019 Open Gardens. They will be installed in the Railway Station area by the Lions Club for us, some time this week. Thank you Grenfell Lions for your support with this project.
06.01.2022 Next Garden Club meeting will be held on Tuesday 1st October, 2pm at the home of Cherie and Graham Pattrick in Forbes Street. We will have the opportunity to walk around their lovely garden and enjoy afternoon tea. Please bring a plate.
06.01.2022 Hoping you are all staying well at this time of isolation and enjoying your iso time in the garden catching up on all those jobs that have been waiting for us. An update of what is happening within the Club: I have had a few calls from members asking what is happening with the garden surrounding the eagle sculpture. I phoned council yesterday and spoke to the engineer who informed me that plantings will be started very soon. Kathleen is working on the three sculptured flowers..., which will be set in concrete close to the eagle sculpture, and they will be installed in the near future. There will not be a Garden Club meeting in June, but I will keep you informed. Cheers, Chris See more

The position of President was discussed but no decision will be made untill next year at our meeting on 2nd March, venue to be advised. Thankyou Judy Spedding for all the beautiful geranium cuttings. Our Christmas Party will be held at Patina Gallery Grenfell on 7th December at 12... for 12.30. Members have made a list of foods they will bring and a meat tray will be supplied by GCC. 01.01.2022 The Grenfell Garden Club Inc Christmas party was well attended today at Patina Gallery Grenfell. Nineteen members enjoyed a delightful lunch of cold meats and a variety of salads with sweets to follow. Jenny Wells conducted proceedings with a game of trivia, prizes and a raffle a gorgeous Christmas cake made by Judy Spedding. Thankyou to everyone who attended and made this day special. Thankyou also to Kath, Julie and Joanne for making a young man's day ( Spencer Nealon)by ...buying 5 barbed wire stars he made. Some members left before the photo. I love sharing my special place with you all. Have a safe and wonderful Christmas. See you all in March maybe with a new President! Thankyou Kathleen McCue
01.01.2022 With level 4 water restrictions in Grenfell it is so difficult keeping anything alive. I have just been contacted by Noel Cartwright who has asked if I could publicise the fact that, after his contact with Central Tableland Water, he has been given permission to water Grenfells Endemic Garden outside of the regulated times. Noel and Sharon have been tending the site for many years, and it is very much appreciated. Rain is forecast, so we hope and pray we see some of it!
