25.01.2022 Love your ponies and treasure every moment you have with them

24.01.2022 Did someone say treats?

24.01.2022 A State of Disaster has been declared in Victoria, with new restrictions for both Melbourne metropolitan and regional Victoria. We, along with HRCAV and... Pony Club Victoria, are working through the implications for our community and will make a detailed statement tomorrow. #staysafe #loveyourhorse

23.01.2022 Weather Policy & Christmas Closure. As of today, we no longer require masks to be worn to lessons - well done everyone for the amazing result in Victoria. With warmer weather forecast, please keep an eye on this page and your emails. As we head into summer, only morning lessons will be available.... If the weather is forecast to be 40 or above in the 2 days preceding your appointment, lessons will be rescheduled. I do not teach in hot or dangerous (stormy or very windy) weather conditions. Whilst the duration of a single lesson might only be 45 mins - for myself and my horses, we are potentially out in it for hours at a time and it becomes an OHS issue. We are closed for lessons during the Christmas break from Dec 18th - Jan 8th inclusive. Stay cool!

21.01.2022 What a gorgeous morning. Not a bad day at the office really.

20.01.2022 Hi All, Due to circumstances beyond my control, I have had to cancel all lessons this weekend. You should recieve an email notifying you of this with a rescheduled time - if it doesn’t suit, we can change it. It is not a decision I have made lightly - this year is throwing a lot of curve balls! ... IF you can reschedule a weekend lesson to an evening/afterschool weekday spot after 12th November, I am going to open up places Mon/Thurs/Fri from 4:30 onwards. Those with lessons already booked in my system will get first preference. email [email protected] to reschedule. It would ****really**** help me as my weekend bookings with the backog of Covid have got out of control and I honestly just can’t keep up. Thankyou in advance for your understanding, Lauren PS Happy 1st Birthday to Thelma!

20.01.2022 I’ve been following Evie for quite some time - her positive attitude against all odds and passion for her horses is very inspiring.

20.01.2022 LESSON AVAILABILITY I have been inundated with lesson requests since notice today that regional Covid restrictions will be easing. Please note that my online booking is still turned off and will be until Mid November. Those with bookings in the system will have lessons honoured. ... To enable me to have some time off we will be CLOSED from 21st to 25th September. Will make a decision about the rest of school hols later this week. We will also be CLOSED from Oct 19th - Nov 13th inclusive whilst Lauren is on full time university placement. It has been an interesting term with remote learning, a full time uni load, work elsewhere plus the constantly changing goal posts of running a business in the Covid era! PS Anyone interested in a saturday morning casual beginner riding instructor’s position in the new year...contact me!

20.01.2022 HEAVY RAIN FORECAST SUNDAY 21st I will be in contact with everyone booked in for lessons tomorrow. I’m happy to either reschedule, or offer a session (under cover!) on the Equisimulator instead (focus on rider position & biomechanics).

19.01.2022 Done is better than perfect - so true!

16.01.2022 Hi All, For some reason my booking system has had a brain fart and people didn’t get notification on Thursday that ALL LESSONS THIS WEEKEND ARE CANCELLED and have been rescheduled. My sincere apologies - under a lot of stress at present, please be patient/gentle with me. ... Please get in touch for further clarification, [email protected] Kind regards, Lauren

15.01.2022 He’s the best! Em & Snippy recently having a lovely ride.

13.01.2022 When ever I hear the lamest excuse in the book, the "I'm too old" whine and snivel, I think of Sally Swift and Walt Gervais, whose careers in the world of hors...es were just picking up momentum as they reached their mid sixties, and really got into full steam ahead by the time they were in their mid seventies. Sally STARTED her world famous "Centered Riding" system at about the age of 65. Walt rode in his first long format three day event at 75. Yet there are little whimperers in their 50s and even in their 40s who pull out the "I'm too old" crock of bull%$#&. At least be honest---Say "I'm too lazy/too unfit/too unmotivated/too scared. (If you have a debilitating medical issue, that's a different story.) You are probably NOT too old. That is more likely an excuse than a reason. Be honest enough to differentiate between the two, OK, so you are 95. I can buy that-----But 70? No frickin' way----. Get off your lazy ass.

13.01.2022 (yet another!) COVID 19 UPDATE 2/8/2020 Thankyou all for your patience. I have turned off online bookings for now as I am still waiting for clarification on DHHS rulings associated with Stage 3 restrictions and implications for my insurance. Once I have further details, I will contact anyone booked in and let them know if they will be impacted. It will most likely mean another shut down, or a significant restriction in who I am able to teach. ... Stay safe out there!

12.01.2022 I notice something interesting when I teach people, especially women. When I pay attention to improvements and make a big deal of them, many people are often im...mediately suspicious. The conversation might go something like this: Me: you rode that circle very nicely! Student: well I still didn’t get a good rythm, my right leg is still too tight and my horse didn’t bend well. Me: ok but it still is a really nice improvement Student : well it could be better It sometimes seems that our brains are committed to focusing on the negative aspects of our work, that we aren’t allowed to be proud of our improvements. When I ask my students to tell me something they did well, they often look visibly uncomfortable, and if they can come up with something, they add conditions to it. I got better at x, BUT I still didn’t do y and z. I tell them often that a successful moment doesn’t need to be described with conditions. You can be aware of what needs improvement without needing to beat yourself over the head with it. I also think people can get accustomed to the authoritarian type teacher who just hollers your every failure at you, until you accept you are never going to be as good as them. So a teacher who compliments their improvement and draws on their strengths draws suspicion - maybe the teacher doesn’t know anything if they think *I’m* good. The thing is, I would never in a million years teach a horse the way some people have become used to being taught. Hanging your failures over your head puts too much emphasis on your shortcomings. Yes I can see what your leg is doing, but we’ll get to that. One thing at a time. When you ride with a laundry list of your own faults, you don’t reward yourself, or notice your accomplishments - and you don’t notice the horse’s either. You can’t help it. You think you’re being hard on yourself but you’re hard on the horse too. You are allowed to be proud of your improvements. In fact, I highly recommend it.

11.01.2022 LESSON AVAILABILITY UPDATE Hi, I know everyone is keen to get riding again, however I will be playing catch up again for the next month due to the backlog after restrictions. Please, please be patient! If you already have a booking in the system, rest assured you will be accommodated. I can now teach beginners again! (with sanitiser and masks of course). ... However, for new bookings, I will be opening my online calendar at the end of this month to take bookings from early November. Please note, clients will be restricted to fortnightly bookings from November onwards to accomodate everyone. Otherwise, I end up with the same people booking out all the popular times each weekend in one hit and others missing out. Please note, I will be unable to accomodate afterschool lessons this term, with my other work, study and family commitments. However, I plan to offer more weekday appointments between 10-2, going forward in 2021 (yay, both kids at school!) If anyone has any concerns or questions, please email me [email protected] I’m doing my best to steer through these unchartered waters x

10.01.2022 Whoops...! Due to an admin error, FB has not been notifying me directly about inbox messages to my page! I just stumbled across a huge number of missed messages. If you have not heard from me, I have not been ignoring you - I promise! Please email [email protected] I am getting more and more lesson enquiries each day - I understand that there is some frustration about my limited availability. In short, I have only just caught up on pre-Covid appointments, I ha...ve 2 small children and will be returning to study shortly. The days are currently short and there’s only one of me....my best advice is to book far ahead and ask to be put on a cancellation list. I am doing the best I can. Once the weather improves and days get longer, look out for group classes - for adults as well as kids!

09.01.2022 2020 Update - click to read all info carefully! With the new financial year upon us, there has been a slight price increase for most lesson types that will apply for any lessons booked from today. Unfortunately, my insurance costs have skyrocketed in these uncertain times, with less options for insurance providers in the equestrian world. Covid 19 ... You all know the drill. Don’t come if you’re sick. I’ll have hand sanitiser and soap at the ready. Please note I cannot accept any bookings from Metropolitan Melbourne or Mitchell Shire until Stage 3 restrictions ease. If you have been in a hotspot recently, it would be advisable to let me know and reschedule your lesson. I want to look after my family and all my valued clients. Bookings I know it’s currently hard to get in, particularly on weekends. I’ve just made some more August weekend appointments available. At this stage, I’m not opening up afterschool lessons until we get to end of August/early September and longer days. Weekday appointments between 10-2 are often available - you need to contact me directly to book these, they are not currently available online. Happy Riding!

07.01.2022 COVID 19 Update 30/7/2020 With the current situation, I need to be strict on the rules in order to stay open. It is getting to the point with community transmission that I need to seriously weigh up risks of having people coming and going from my property. If restrictions tighten, I may once again, need to close. Please - follow these instructions (that will be on my gate from this weekend)... Hand sanitiser will be at my gate. Sanitise those hands. Please shut the gate so my sign is visible. Only the rider and one care giver/driver will be allowed on the property. If you wish to watch your child or associate’s lesson, you may do so from your car in an appropriate viewing area by the arena. Drop off and pick up of non-driving riders is preferred. Those requiring physical assistance are permitted to have a caregiver with them at all times. PLEASE do not turn up with the whole family. From Monday 3rd August, anyone over the age of 12 MUST wear a mask when arriving for their lesson or where social distancing is difficult. When actually riding, mask may be removed but must still be on your person (so it is quickly accessible in situations where physical distancing can’t be enforced). If you have been tested, in contact with, attend or work at any of the following (or indeed any workplace with a current outbreak) please reschedule your lesson for a later date. Don Kr Castlemaine Catherine Mcauley College St Joseph’s Holy Rosary Royal Freemasons It goes without saying that you MUST NOT attend if you are sick, even with very mild symptoms. Stay safe, everyone x

04.01.2022 EDIT - 4/8/2020 We will be CLOSED from Thursday 6th August until Monday 10th August to put in place our CovidSafe plan and get formal notification of what is allowed from Equestrian Victoria and DHHS. I do not make the rules and will have to comply with industry recommendations in order to be insured. Any booked lessons will be rescheduled. HERE WE GO AGAIN! ... I am awaiting clarification, however based on rulings in Stage 3, I anticipate I will be operating at a much reduced capacity. At this stage, that means: - only conducting private lessons with strict equipment hygiene - Riders must have own helmet - I can only coach non-beginners (ie able to control horse independently at walk/trot/canter & adjust stirrups so I can easily physically distance). I believe horses cannot be floated to me for lessons. I may be able to travel locally, but at this stage don’t plan to as I am home with the kids remote learning Will have more details soon. Once I know, I will contact those affected. Stay safe out there

03.01.2022 Now available - recently serviced, cleaned & had a complete checkover (wiring, bearings, flooring etc) and is ready for inspection. A quality Aussie made float with many extras. Only for sale because it’s not suitable for my 17.2hh dinosaur. Note - if you want to tow 2 horses over 500kg, this is not the float for you, as it is not designed for that weight. Please READ all details before messaging. Price negotiable.

03.01.2022 COVID UPDATE 5/8/2020 Upon advice from DHHS & Equestrian Victoria re: stage 3 restrictions, I have opted to fully close from *today* until ***Monday 10th August*** to fully prepare my CovidSafe plan. Unfortunately at this stage, after the 10th I have decided I cannot coach beginners or shared lessons during Stage 3 Lockdown (until September 13) due to a) rulings with shared equipment, b) issues with physical distancing when intensive supervision is required and c) to minimise... movement of people onto my property and residence. Those with own horses may only travel to me if they are deemed ‘local’ (according to EV’s directives). Limited availability after 11th August will exist for experienced riders already on my books. Strict hygiene & distancing measures will be enforced. I will be contacting everyone affected and allocating tentative rescheduled times. These will be reviewed once we have a better picture of how the State is fairing. Coming out of lockdown, clients will only be able to book on a fortnightly basis for the remainder of the year to enable me to catch up on the huge backlog of lessons and provide equal opportunities for all my valued clients to participate. I will not be taking on any new coaching clients for the remainder of the year & my booking system is now closed. Thankyou for your patience and understanding in these challenging times. Please contact me via email if you have any further questions or queries [email protected] Stay safe xx

02.01.2022 New lesson spots are now up for remainder of year Please DO NOT book consecutive weekends for the rest of the year! Let everyone have a chance to get in. Please note, for those who had lessons booked on 6th Dec, I have had to change your appointments.... There may be some chance to change appointments, but with my other commitments, places are limited. Contact me direct for weekday 10-2pm lesson spots (hint - these are much easier to get into!) As we head into warmer weather, times may have to change to morning/evening. [email protected]

02.01.2022 SCHOOL HOLIDAYS - WE’RE FULLY BOOKED! Thanks to everyone who has enquired about lessons during the School Holiday period. We only had limited availability due to COVID restrictions, shortened days/cooler weather and the need for Lauren to have some much needed rest and time with her family these holidays. With active COVID cases still in Victoria (and with a predicted increased number of travellers throughout the State due to school holidays) we are not running a School Ho...liday Program these holidays. #Henryspam #happyholidays
