23.01.2022 646 HENS ARE GOING TO FOREVER HOMES OVER THE NEXT 4 WEEKENDS (Thank you Mother Cluckers!). WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE OTHER 354 HENS IS UP TO OUR COMMUNITY & how... we can share & share - because I know there are thousands of backyard hen owners that would adopt some rescued hens. So please, share & share and let's get more approved Mother Cluckers on board to adopt some hens. STEP ONE. Here is the link to the online Mother Clucker Application online - just have a photo of your hen coop and hen area ready to upload, so we can see they have a predator proof safe place for night time and a decent area to free range in during the day. https://whogivesacluck.org/become-a-hen-parent/ STEP TWO. check out adoption days below, still happening. Once you are approved as a Mother Clucker I'll ask you which location and how many hens can you take into your family. Easy Peasy. 21.01.2022 Saving Water and Recycling Nutrients We live on a rural property that relies on tank water. Whilst we have a 60,000 liter storage capacity I have always been u...nhappy that we have two flushing toilets. Secondly, our Western culture through ignorance refuses opportunities to recycle the nutrients from our own bodily functions. In our rural residential circumstances the 'Appropriate Technology' to change all this has been readily available for some time. Enter the 'Ecoflo Nature Loo' composting toilet. The sequence on how to DIY install one is in the images. Image One: Remove existing system and cap off the waste pipe. Don't forget to tell the household when you are going to do this! Image two and three: Build platform for the Nature Loo. I wanted a bit more elevation outside the house to ensure that the excess fluid in the system would have enough fall to easily drain away. Image three: Drill the holes though the external wall for the excess fluid drain (purple pipe) and ventilation system, install pipes. This was the most 'technical bit' especially when your stud finder is having an off day and you have to drill a second hole. Image four: Install new system. The red bucket is a wood chip pee bucket. This is not essential. The Nature Loo composting process is enzyme driven and can handle both solid and liquid input but I want to recycle the nutrient from some of my 'yellow water' in other composting processes. Image five: Install the ventilation system which is driven by a 2 watt 12 volt fan. Extend and site the excess fluid pipe a good distance away from the house to a reticulation system or, as may be the case at a later date when I am satisfied I can safely deal with the pathogen burden, into a duck weed propagation system Six: Commission system, image not available.

17.01.2022 Standing in 2030 the Australian landscape is drought free. Farmers and people have got together and unlearned what they had only known from the past. A result o...f the unlearning was that the people changed the landcape. They stood together and the politicians did what the people said. The acts on willows was reversed, weeds where classified as plants and instead of using chemicals to kill them they where used to heal the land. They where reconised as nursing plants. A result of this was that the land started to heal. Leaky ponds where placed in rivers and contours where put in place. The hills where covered with trees and plants of all varieties. They where no longer just bare with no grass or trees. Rain fell the land cooled and the weather changed. The people on the land learnt to work with the land and as a result profits and food was healthier and better for all. All was put in place as a huge team of people made it happen. All from one mans experiments that worked and reestablish the way the land works with plants as the main tool. Simple and effective and it changed the very land. See more
