13.01.2022 Last weekend, myself and fellow SRF podcaster Jimmy (IG: the_drop_bear_au) traveled out to attend Battle in the Bush, a five round Major event held over two days in Orange, NSW. I won my first two games, and my 3rd game of Day 1 was against Oliver Byler, a fellow ork player who had beaten me in the first round of Castle Assault two weeks prior! It was an awesome game, and I was in the lead for the last few turns, but he had a spectacular final turn, and ended up beating me by... a single point! I was disappointed, but Oliver's such an awesome opponent, we always have a beer during our games, and I learnt a lot from him. I placed 28th out of 60ish overall, with a 3 - 2 win/loss record, but with a few small decision changes I could've seen myself doing a lot better. It feels great to be able to see the path I could've taken to place higher, and I'll take those lessons with me moving forward. Jimmy & I both did well, coming away with fresh ideas for list changes, and a bit of networking on the side. Watch this space people, we've got plans cooking! www.greyforge.com.au | IG: @greyforge

11.01.2022 Another Tournament done and dusted with my first Castle Assault attendance ever. Was an awesome event, with much frivolity and (probably too much) drinking. I lost my first two games on day one, I would say at least in part to the amount of beer consumed. I managed to win my next three games over the next two days though, and ended up clawing my way back to 17th place overall which I'm pretty happy with! I also got completely blindsided by getting voted Best Sport by the play...ers attending. It feels really cool to come away with that, put a huge smile on my face! Thanks to all of my opponents for such awesome games, and shoutout to Heath for running such an amazing event, with every single player who registered actually attending and showing up both days. I've never seen that happen, and neither had Heath! Strongly encourage any players who are keen on a friendly ITC tournament to make the trip next year, it's well worth it #Warhammer40k

07.01.2022 Erik dropping knowledge bombs in this episode of the Art of War. Yet again we have more reinforcement that this game is won and lost in the movement phase, and taking advantage of any change to gain movement (in any phase!) should be capitalised on. Definitely worth a listen!

01.01.2022 This is the beginning people! The elevator doors are opening, and we have the chance to get in on the ground floor. We always had an inkling (or at least a hope) that tabletop gaming would make it to the main stage alongside e-sports, and now it's starting to happen. What this means is that teams, coaching, broadcasting, and living your life as a professional 40k, AoS, or (insert tabletop game here) competitor will become a reality.... Not only that, but companies will be built entirely around supporting these players and events in terms of things like marketing, sponsorships, gear, etc. Super exciting times for the tabletop industry, can't wait to get amongst it!
