12.01.2022 The Ceduna GC was for me the first of the Nullarbor Golf Links the longest golf course in the world. Whilst in Ceduna I thought well why don’t I play the course? First mistake I have made on my trip. I did get smart and only played the first nine and the eighth which was the other hole for the Links. The sand greens were poor, the course was rough and there was crap everywhere. Empty and broken bottles, rubbish found throughout the course. The course is used as a thoroughfa...re by people going to and from the local pub. There would no doubt be difficulties in running a golf course with the need for volunteers and sponsorship so I wish there well. Unfortunately my rating on the course is harsh but I can only give it one star. If you intend to play the Nullarbor links I would suggest that you only play the two holes at Ceduna. Until next time and in light of all things happening in Canberra I will just bid you happy golfing. Regards and cheers See more

12.01.2022 Bordertown is located north of Naracoorte in SA’s SE very close to the Victorian border. As see in the photos it is the home of Santa’s White Boomers and birthplace of Labor’s only decent PM. The area certainly surprised with the degree of farmland and agricultural. We learnt that there is a healthy supply of water for irrigation and the most centre pivot irrigators we have seen so far on our trip. Unfortunately our travels didn’t allow me to play the Naracoorte Golf Club how...ever I would recommend not missing the opportunity if it becomes available to you. The Bordertown Golf course members would argue that their course is superior but having give a quick look at Naracoorte they would be on an equal par. The course is well maintained by their active bunch of retired volunteers and supported well by the local businesses. The underground water allocation allows the course to be kept looking green. The greens are very soft which allows golfers to really attack the flag. The course provides adequate space for a number of golfing travellers at very reasonable rates. I was made very welcome by the members and participated in the Vets Competition where I managed a closest to the pin. During spring and summer daily competition are very regulated by daily temperatures and players must tee off before certain times. A great course to try and rated high in the four ’s. Until next time happy golfing and don’t forget to take a wet rag with you to clean all your golfing equipment including your balls. Cheers See more

10.01.2022 As you head Northwest from Port Lincoln you follow some magnificent coastline and visit areas such as Coffin Bay,Elliston, Venus Bay and Streaky Bay. There is an abundance of fantastic seafood and lots of oysters. If you intend to travel the Eyre Peninsula and the Nullarbor be sure to take the extra time to follow the coast, you will not be disappointed. When you get to Streaky Bay do yourself a favour and try out the local course. The course is situated in the middle of to...wn and is a 18 hole ten green course. There are eighteen tee boxes so some holes are played from different directions. The course is pretty exposed to the elements so can be challenging is the wind is up. One of the tee boxes is a cracker and you have to be sure there is no traffic traveling through before teeing off. The greens were a little furry but with a good roll. I am not sure of the grass but it was not the first time I had played on grass like that in SA. So get out and support the locals as visitors are very welcome. I would give the course a four rating. Happy golfing and don’t let your balls get too exposed to the wind . See more

03.01.2022 In the States southeast is Mount Gambier and no trip to SA is complete unless visited. The famous Blue Lake has been the source of the towns water supply for over a century. The water has been filtered through hundreds of miles of limestone rock and there are many caves and sink holes in the area frequented by crazy cave divers. The town is a good size rural centre providing all services and supplies required by the modern community. The Lake continues to draw you back for ...a look during your stay no matter how long you visit. There is just something special, calming and relaxing about the look of the Lake. Now.......the Golf Course!!!!! I was able to enjoy two very enjoyable rounds on the course and it was the beginning of a run of games where I have been in the mid 80’s which has continued all the way to WA. I way made to feel very welcome and ably assisted by the pro shop. Because I was a member of Caloundra GC I was afforded a reciprocal rates so for $20 able to pay this remarkable course. The first nine was a recent addition to the original course and is on the flat with some undulating holes. As you can see from the pictures the crows had caused excessive damage in some areas of the course. However seasonal in nature due to the presence of a particular bug it has been the source of continual annoyance to the greens staff. The back nine runs up against Mount Gambier and can be very difficult if you don’t allow for the slope. You must quickly master both playing above and below your feet as there is little flat ground. The greens can be attacked with a high chip which will stick. Be sure to enjoy one of the Clubs ports at the completion of your round. You will not be disappointed. Until next time happy golfing and keep your equipment clean otherwise you will not get back spin on those balls. Cheers See more
