17.01.2022 This is the gorgeous Tawny, he was adopted from our group 6 years ago. He lives on the Central Coast with his lovely family. Tawny loves his beach walks and is fascinated by the sea foam.

17.01.2022 Sparky is a sweet little girl - at just over 22kg she is very petite. She is the quiet, unassuming type who is just happy to lay around at your feet & keep you company. However, she has a cheeky side which manifests itself only when she thinks nobody is watching - she will occasionally collect things from around the house & redistribute them - shoes, throw rugs, dog leads etc. Sparky has great lead manners and is easy to walk. She would best suit a calm household with a single adult or mature couple. https://www.gapnsw.org.au//a/available-hounds/sparky-1-534

12.01.2022 JOY by name - JOY by nature. Joy is a very happy & energetic girl who enjoys life to the full. She is learning to walk calmly on lead and loves being out and about. She greets other dogs and people with a puppy enthusiasm. She is only just 2 years of age and gets a little over excited at times - hence she would not be suited to families with young children. She shows manners at feed time and waits patiently until the food is prepared and placed ready to eat. Joy sleeps ...through the night but is keen to get out for her morning walk. She has learnt to walk short flights of stairs and will soon be tested on longer flights. Joy would benefit from a home where consistency and ongoing training can be provided, along with two good walks a day. For more info, check out Joy's profile. https://www.gapnsw.org.au//avai/available-hounds/joy-1-530 See more

09.01.2022 Xala has just arrived! She is 3.5 years old, has a good appetite and sleeps well through the night. She does like to have company but settles well. Xala will be available for adoption in December.

09.01.2022 Lexi is an active girl who thinks pet life is so much fun she likes collecting objects from around the house & will pinch any food items left within her reach! She loves having humans around & would do best in a home where there is company much of the time. While she gets on well with other calm dogs, she can be a little nervous of unfamiliar dogs checking her out. A home with a yard is essential & adults only or a family with older children (12yo plus) preferred. To find out a little more about Lexi, check out her profile. https://www.gapnsw.org.au//ava/available-hounds/lexi-1-516

04.01.2022 LEPTOSPIROSIS UPDATE 14/08/2020 from University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney (UVTHS) Attention dog owners! There has been another confirmed case of Leptospirosis this week in a dog that lives in Balmain. The dog had been in contact with rats and was not vaccinated against Leptospirosis. The dog has been treated at UVTHS this week and fortunately appears to be recovering. Preliminary results show that the previously reported strain (serovar) known as Copenhageni has ...been the cause in both this dog and another reported dog from Newtown last week, however further testing is required to confirm this in one of the cases. This is the first case of Leptospirosis seen in Balmain. Last year we saw 8 cases between May and November and these dogs lived in Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Glebe and Redfern. Importantly, we have not seen any infected dogs which have been vaccinated against Leptospirosis. Therefore, please vaccinate your dog against Leptospirosis if you live within a 5km radius of Surry Hills, in Balmain or its immediately surrounding suburbs or if your dog is in contact with rats. A vaccine has to be given twice 2-4 weeks apart and yearly thereafter to ensure protection. See more
