25.01.2022 Happy National Black Dog Day today

25.01.2022 Evening lovely people, can I ask what kind of preventative treatments do you guys give your older greys re their joints? I’ve got an 8 1/2 year old gorgeous gir...lie, she seems to be stiff (and painfully slow) getting up off her bed at times - unless you dangle her favourite food... and I want to add something else into her diet. She’s already on fish oil, has raw meat and fish in her diet, just after some other ideas please. She walks fine, healthy weight, she’s a drama Queen and a precious Princess most of the time - she will walk slower than a snail at times and then get a burst of energy and fly past you... Not sure if she’s tricking me into feeling guilty for her or if she need more supplements. Keen to hear your advice. Thanks in advance.

25.01.2022 Tiger (3 y/o) Tiger will steal your slippers and your heart. Tiger is a very sweet boy, who wants nothing more than all of your love and affection. He loves meeting new people, has been great with any big dogs we have met - we haven’t tested him with small dogs or cats yet. He is very cuddly and sighs dramatically and taps you with his paw if you stop patting him before he deems it appropriate. ... He is very quiet, doesn’t bark or growl. He loves the house life, and has made every couch-like surface his own. He is very patient and has no qualms with hands and faces all over his snoot, when he is awake or asleep. He loves playing with toys, and has ALMOST got the hang of fetch. He has been left alone during normal work hours with mixed results - sometimes he is a perfect angel, other times he tries his luck at stealing food, shredding paper / plastic that he can easily access. But he does LOVE company, and will shadow around anyone at home. He is a little mischievous, and has some collecting habits. His preferred loot is ugg boots and jumpers, though recently he also stole from the spice shelf. No harm befalls his loot (unless his loot contains bread or dog food), he very carefully and gently places it in his bed, then he sits admiring his haul. He is a very funny pup, and brings a huge amount of joy. NOT CAT TOLERANT If you would like to know more about this handsome boy would you please call our adoption coordinators, or message us on FB with your details and we can send through an EOI for you to complete. 24.01.2022 Last Sunday we were at the the Perry Lakes Chilli Festival at Perry Lakes Reserve, what a beautiful setting amongst the trees. We had visitors dropping in through the day to say hello and meet our beautiful greyhounds. Thanks to Janey, Wayne & Ellen for helping set-up and packing down. 17.01.2022 Rusty is an easy going, happy and friendly greyhound who is verychilled out for only 22 months old. He has stunning black markings on his red coat and a fluffy dark edged tail that almost looks like it could belong to a german shepherd! Rusty walks pretty well on the lead, with minimal pulling, however he does have a tendency to zig zag across the path as everything is so new and exciting for him. He has met some small, medium and big dogs and was fine, although he is quite f...riendly and always wants to say hello. He can do some excited jumps when he gets up in the morning because he wants to go outside and watch the world go by, but he settles quite quickly. He loves a sniff outside and will take great pleasure in marking his new territory in his forever home. He's not very food motivated at this point however that may change once he settles into a routine and finds his favourite food. He will quite happily have a nap in a room by himself without following the humans around the house, and has been left unattended for short periods of time without any signs of distress. No accidents in the house but he is let out quite regularly. Rusty is still very much learning how to 'dog' - he has bonked his head on the glass doors once or twice and he seems to prefer the floor over a comfy bed, but he's slowly learning to love the pet life. He's also slightly obsessed with his reflection in the mirror, but wouldn't you if you were this handsome!? NOT CAT TOLERANT I think he'd make a perfect addition to a family with slightly older kids, due to his size and inquisitive energy. If you would like to know more about this adorable boy would you please call our adoption coordinators, or message us on FB with your details and we can send through an EOI for you to complete. Depending where you live: Ellen North of the River 0408 951 931 Janey South of the River 0419 044 689

14.01.2022 We send our condolences to Julie and Dave on the loss of their beautiful girl Holly who was just shy of her 10th Birthday and we feel for their heartbreaking loss. Julie say’s Holly was a stressed dog who had sleep agression when she arrived with them. With Dave’s patience and love she became a much-loved lap dog who loved cuddles. All dogs need to be shown the way. I. Saying that, Dave never wanted a grey it was my wish to rehome Holly. She was his dog... Dave taught holly how to be a pet. Holly taught Dave to love greyhounds Full blessings to swan valley vet and their compassion. Holly was not a GAWA dog but it shows with love, time, patience and compassionate training most dogs can have the life they so richly deserve. RIP beautiful girl 23rd October 2020

14.01.2022 Pet City Mandurah 26/9/20 Bec, Irene and Toni set up. Toni brought Irene and Shadow along with Macca and myself. Shadow is a beautifully behaved boy and looks in great condition. He was a favourite with everybody.... Our coat maker Irene arrived with more coats and the promised orange knitted greyhound which impressed everyone. Loretta and her daughter brought lively Roxy and still timid Donny. He amazed us all by jumping out of the car without persuasion. He is a sweet soul. Emma brought Ollie and her own Zippy. Poor Ollie is another very timid dog. Sudden movements or loud noises make him jump. Emma is still deciding about adopting him as he is a special boy. We had visits from Raff and his family, Suzanne Alan Luna and Ranger, Fiona and Tiny, and was wonderful to see Ann although no Mindy but we do love to hear all about her antics that Ann fills us in on. Sarah and Travis who spoke with me during the week about fostering came along and spent a lot of time with the dogs. We had a brilliant student photographer who adopted Marcel and Lacey from us. Visit and take some beautiful photos. The Pet City staff were as usual very helpful and one of the girls mopped up any wees that happened. Always so lovely. We look forward to our next event there.

13.01.2022 It was such a lovely morning at Kingsway Markets on Saturday. Pete, Katrina and Ellen set-up, and special thanks to Katrina for making our stall look magnificent with all her Spooky decorations! Thanks to Janey for making a lovely GAWA basket as a donation to Kingsway markets for their Doggie fancy dress parade and for also bringing beautiful Herbert for a visit. We had visits from Poncho (brindle boy) and family he certainly looks fab, also a surprise visit from John who ad...opted Lily (Cheeky) several years ago, she is 12 years old now and is looking so good for her age. John also had his other adopted grey Tammy with him. Kylee and Eric came with Boulder and Rusty, Nat came with lovely girl Sveta. Lou came with Reagan, Jorja and foster Jeannie who was being picked by her new Mum & Dad Amanda. Ben, Aaron and Emily came with big Sammy & Brinny. Pam came and bought a couple of our new tote bags. Hayley came with Sam and Dexter. Another lovely story Dexter was being looked after by Hayley when Jackie his owner was no longer able to care for him and after she died Hayley adopted Dexi with Jackie’s blessing. Kay and Ian came by to say hello too. Thanks to Wayne for coming to pick up stuff for the Vegan Expo in the city on the following day. Thank you so much to everyone who came along and helped out, supported us with donations and buying our merchandise and we made $216.76. Katrina thanks for the pictures lovely as always. We hope to be back again soon at this lovely market. 2 x Herbie, little Jeannie, little Rosie, Ellen and the stall all decorated, Sexton, Katrina all dressed up, Sveta, Rusty meeting a little fluffy unicorn, Brinny, Rusty Boulder and Herbie, Lily, Tammy and Rusty, Tammy and Rusty...

13.01.2022 It was a beautiful morning for a birthday party on Sunday for Macau hounds Ivy and Albi. The party didn’t start too well with fellow Macau hound Grace getting bitten by an ant and having to go home. She’s doing well now thankfully. The dogs had a blast socialising and relaxing on picnic rugs before a short stroll around the lake. The dog cake was a hit with some of the hounds, others not so much. Ivy and Albi absolutely loved the cake. Overall a fantastic party and we look f...orward to the next party and making a fuss over these incredible survivors and their special milestones year after year. Thank you to Sophie for the pics.

11.01.2022 Handsome Ollie on Tongue out Tuesday

10.01.2022 It is with sadness and heartache that we send out condolences to Sharon and dave on the sudden and tragic loss of their beautiful boy Harry. Harry was violently attacked by an off lead dog while out walking with Dave, his injuries were so severe that he could not be saved. Sleep tight lovely boy

10.01.2022 Happy Birthday to one of our wonderful committee members & adoption coordinators Lou! We appreciate everything you do for GAWA and our greyhounds. We hope you have fantastic day ... Love the GAWA team

09.01.2022 It is an incredibly special girl’s birthday today Macau Greyhound Ivy is celebrating her birthday and we send her lots of happy wishes to a girl who has survived so much. Thank you to Alanna for being her Mum and doing such an amazing job to help her feel secure and loved. She has had busy weekend with a big party celebration with her greyhound friends and family and another Macau Greyhound Albi who has had a recent birthday too "Happy 7th Birthday to my sweet little Iv...y! She had a fantastic time at the party yesterday and absolutely loved the cake and has been cuddling with all her new teddies. It hurts to think about all those years and birthdays she spent at the Macau Canidrome where no one cared about her and neglected her. She has come a long way from the frightened dog who was too scared to be outside of her dark, wet, concrete kennel. I am grateful every day to have the opportunity to be her mum and make every day special, not just her birthday. Love you Ivy girl Ivy and Max

08.01.2022 Phoebe 3 1/4 yrs is an absolute bundle of love! All she wants is to be close by to you with whatever you are doing. She is the best snuggle buddy and sometimes will gently nibble on your hand to remind you to give her a scratch. She is also very playful doing zoomies, whizzies and giving the poor old teddy bear a hard time! Phoebe is very bold at home, out and about though she prefers the quieter streets to walk as playgrounds are still a lil bit overwhelming for her. She is... still a bit unsure of some other doggos that don’t look like hounds but is starting to realise they are just like her and is happy to see them in calm environments. Phoebe is very food motivated, learning to stay at the front door and not run out, training which will be beneficial to continue on in her adoptive home. NO CAT HOMES PLEASE If you would like to know more about this stunning girl would you please call our adoption coordinators, or message us on FB with your details and we can send through an EOI for you to complete. Depending where you live: Ellen North of the River 0408 951 931 Janey South of the River 0419 044 689

08.01.2022 What a fun day we had a Piney Lakes Reserve - thank you to everyone who was able to come. Here is to the next one 2021 #greyhoundadoptionswa #gawa

05.01.2022 Come visit us at our weekend events and pat some gorgeous greyhounds and have a chat

03.01.2022 What a great day it was on Saturday at Pet City Mandurah. Loretta was there already when Toni Macca and Sharon arrived. As always, the staff had our table and chairs and mop and bucket waiting and a lovely welcome. The first half hour was very quiet and our first visitor was Irene with a beautiful gift for Sharon and Dave who had recently lost their Harry after a fatal dog attack.... Sharon and Dave were very happy with their knitted black greyhound who will be called Harry in his memory. Thank you so much Irene from Sharon and Dave. Irene she is such a lovely generous lady and everyone was oohing and aahing over the new coats, leg warmers and another knitted yellow greyhound who was quickly knabbed by Toni! Our first family came to see the foster hounds and unfortunately, we did not have any foster hounds then, so Macca got all the attention! Not long after we had a surprise visit from Trisha who used to be part of the committee, it is always great to catch up with our greyhound family team. Our first foster dog Tracey came with Ash and Freckles what a gorgeous little girl and her new forever family came to meet her again. We then had Rebecca and Isacc arrive with the very lively pretty girl Nez, and our third hound third foster handsome red fawn boy Peter was there with his foster mum Sarah. Our visitors included Sandy who had adopted Cleo a few years ago (Hayley) and she sadly had been killed a few weeks ago another fatal dog attack we send our deepest condolences to Sandy. Gorgeous little Tiny and her mum Fiona who gave us a generous donation. Karen with her daughter and the very gorgeous brindle Bow who has recently been adopted, he was treated to a new sloth coat and two gorgeous collars. We had the cutest little friendly little girl called Pi came for a visit, she is a Peruvian Hairless dog and I think our hounds wondered what she was, such a happy little girl! Dave came along with Bongo and it was great to see him socialise with his own kind. Peter Greyhound and Bongo were a bit too fascinated with the cat! We had in total $170.85 in sales and donations. Thanks as always to Irene for bringing along coffee for us all, she is such a gem and it always well appreciated. Pet City Mandurah thank you for your support of GAWA and see you next month
