02.01.2022 Standards for management of anaphylaxis in schools The Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) is in the process of developing minimum standards for the management of anaphylaxis in schools and early childhood education centres across Australia, following a review of all state and territory policies and guidelines. This review has highlighted different approaches in each jurisdiction with NSW policies and guidelines showcased as a leader in the managem...ent of anaphylaxis in the school environment. The Health and Safety Directorate is working closely with ASCIA to ensure the standards developed augment and improve existing policies and guidelines, provide additional support to schools in the management of anaphylaxis and do not create an additional burden to schools. Survey available for completion The next phase in the development of these standards, is to engage with parents/guardians of children with severe allergies who are currently enrolled in school and/or childcare services, along with staff who are working in schools and childcare services in an online survey. The purpose of the survey is to identify key issues in anaphylaxis management in schools and childcare settings. The information collected will assist in the development of nationally consistent standards that effectively prevent, recognise and treat anaphylaxis. It would be appreciated if families who have children with severe allergies could complete the survey which can be accessed here https://nationalallergystrategy.org.au/proj/school-and-ecec
