25.01.2022 Yes we are still here Pre Christmas work insanity and then the family Christmas committments have seen little activity in the shed A little time off and the correct 35+ degree temps have made ideal (not) shed conditions But progress we have .... A wasted day on version one ( the gridfilla boys are voices in your head even when they are not there ) was a small setback but as usual the second version is far more acceptable! Also found a much better dash assembly amongst t...he spares so everything now fits like it should and is much better than the original setup. The Nistune computer and Autech loom was a surprise find on Gumtree and will make the engine management a four wire hook up - happy days Goal is to get her started by the new year so it can all come out for a Matt the Legend paint job and we can consider that final assembly dream Stay tuned ........ See more

25.01.2022 Another day in the shed and another step closer ..... Started the endless task of putting everything back under the dash - for the last time Wiring is still a work in progress but everything behind that is locked away for good! Slipped the guards back on just for the fun of it and boy does she look good Very happy with this weekends progress and can only hope we can maintain this pace Thanks again for the massive amount of likes .... not for the likes persay but it is good to know the story is entertaining so many people The positive support sure does help keep things on the move

24.01.2022 Time for an update ..... There has been progress but the internet in our area is almost as good as two tin cans on a string so hopefully the Telstra carrier pidgeon gets this message through We did actually get her started but only after a massive arm wrestle ..... you know, the cant be that ended up being the issue and without the Gridfilla boys calling past and saving the day I would probably still be getting nowhere So starts and runs (ish) so ordered some injectors ...from ebay. Stop laughing, they are number one, genuine best refurbished guaranteed quality They arrive quickly and I install them in the rail (5 minute job with standard manifold ) and then find they have sent the incorrect plug type. Okay, despite being direct replacement I email the seller and ask if he has the adapter harness that everyone else supplies. He say yes I have the harnesses but I do not believe you. Customer service FAIL. Anyway, raise dispute, photos, send back, wait for refund ... the life of car building. Just another week or so added On the good news side, the throttle cable adapted to the S15 throttle body really easily - typical Nissan Couple of mods to the OEM bracket, a couple of brake line saddles and we are done - 1979 cable and 1999 throttle body together in harmony Also had to modify the Autech extractors to fit the Sunny with the idler arm that is perfectly positioned to block the exhaust Almost as much work as building a new set but no use building new until we get an engine with enough horsepower to use it Starting the ducting for radiator and oil cooler and once that is done we yank the motor out and get the last bits welded before getting her over to Matt the legend for paint So much to do but we are living in hopes for round 2 Big thanks to Errol for prompting the update See more

24.01.2022 Mini update before Sunday???? The world has definetly changed for sure Firstly a big shout out to Ian Price from HP Motorsport for wiring up an O2 sensor extension at short notice! Outstanding service and a first class job - thanks mate Photos show a mistake I made this week Two new wheels purchased for the 2020 comeback were accidently ordered in bronze rather than silver ... What started as a mistake might well have become a colour change. Actually like the bronze ...and it may lead to 2 more being ordered. What do you think? They may look a little similar in the pics but the new wheels are much richer and closer to a strong dark metallic than the brass I was expecting. More updates Sunday .... See more

22.01.2022 Blendline TV - the REAL supporters of grass roots motorsport

22.01.2022 Today is the day...... After 5 years of hibernation our girl sees her favourite track again! Bedding brakes and laps, laps, laps are on the agenda today. Wish us luck

22.01.2022 Social distancing racecar style .... Freshly painted car to reassemble and all necessities in stock to do so

21.01.2022 Another great weekend of steady progress on the Sunny Only three pics shown but all the hidden bits and small jobs have taken their toll on the available time. Master cylinders checked over (lucky as the rear was a bit gunky ) and the pedal box installed, steering box cleaned (what a job - somehow one of the grimiest parts of the car ), steering box painted and installed, steering column installed. Lines for the oil pressure and oil temp run and gauges installed, new injectors installed and manifold fitted up. Fuel reg and lines hooked up for the last time and the demister hoses also final fitted. Still miles away from finished but really happy with the recent progress so lets hope the Easter confinement keeps the momentum going. Have a great week and we will catch up with the Easter update.

20.01.2022 A one photo Sunday post? Must mean nothing is going on Some say a picture is worth a thousand words but with race cars a picture is usually a thousand dollars (or so ). Most of the required stickers in place and we are starting to look like a race car ..... What is not shown in the photo is the background spend Tune organised, tuning software at hand, two new wheels ordered, new set of flares hopefully being shipped by end of next week, new wheel nuts ordered, new front brake pads paid for and in transit, new O2 sensor and plugs in transit and yet another set of injectors just in case Fibreglass repairs to a couple of the original flares and a small repair to my new bobtail was enough for the weekend! Still on track for the 23rd if all the pieces arrive. Fingers crossed

19.01.2022 Three weeks until raceday Still a list of things to do but it would not be a proper pre-season if we didn't leave things until the last minute Finally finished the mounts for our new dash and off to powdercoat on Monday. The Powertune Digital dash was a great fit for us ..... Great price, gps, data logging, colour AND plugs straight into the consult cable for the Nistune computer The dash can do far more than we have at present so when we find more HP and possibly use an aftermarket ECU, the same unit will cover it all. On to the next job....

19.01.2022 Locked and loaded Ready to roll first thing for Round 1.... A big weekend of watching the horsepower boys disappear while trying to fend off the strong mid pack boys Gridfillas are go

19.01.2022 Seeing that I promised three pictures yesterday and only delivered two, it would seem I owe you all one more pic ..... Funny how the devil is in the detail Ever since we first welcomed the Sunny into the family, the satin black elements around the door and rear quarter window were faded to almost white. Part of her new makeover is to tidy up those little areas that often get overlooked. The fresh black outs are a small thing but bring a lot of satisfaction knowing she finally looks as factory fresh as she can Not long until the long weekend

17.01.2022 Sunday funday and a few results to show for todays lockdown ...... Never enough progress it seems but at least moving forward Wiring finally sorted It seems that the easier way is not always the best way and the correct way seems to always win in the end Alternator now doing all the things it should and everything is tucked away for the last time Our new LCA need to live in harmony with the original caster rods but of course there has to be a small challenge to keep... us guessing ..... Small bolt and large hole in the LCA means we get to think outside the square again. A quick trip to the lathe for a couple of shouldered nuts allows the use of the standard caster rod and bolts while ensuring positive location in the LCA. New bonnet pins fitted and although all the holes remain from the original build, they never quite fall back exactly where they should Drilled the new R33 GTS-T rotors for our 4 stud set up. Much easier with our jig that was made for the Pulsar brake upgrades once the boys at C&S Engineering gave us a 4 x 114.3 modification! Jig looks busy but it is a real assest to the workshop No room left inside that 15" rim but it should stop like a champ now! Fitted up our blanking plates for the grill and slipped the bumper back on to make sure everything is sweet before the "good" grille is stripped and repainted. Looks like it will all work out well Good luck to all the IPRA boys next weekend!! Wish we could be there but next round for sure See more

15.01.2022 Gotta start them young My 5 month old grandson Harry has his Christmas pressie in pole position Not a Datsun yet but we will work on it

15.01.2022 Surprise midweek update ..... It is amazing how the little things can make a huge difference With an hour to spare it was great to instal the dash pad and glovebox.Simple job, with more time in cleaning and protecting the components than actual instal but the result is fantastic! Not a big step but proof that constant chipping away will eventually get results

15.01.2022 Guilty as charged.... Seems that our updates have been more weakly than weekly lately Leaving all the legitimate reasons (excuses) aside, there is some progress at least! Just like when your new home gets to lock up ..... looks like a house but a long way from finished - just like the Sunny. Finally, all the aluminium bits are off to the powdercoater which means they will only have to be installed ONE more time Too much time was spent making the small bosses to mount the intake heat shield but that is just how it goes sometimes! Many thanks to Joey for the prod to get back at it

15.01.2022 Sunday night and another weekend disappears in the rear view mirror ... Not massive progress but still moving forward All glass installed (except front screen), steering wheel on and killswitch cable finally sorted. With all the easy bits done it is time to hit the engine bay for the fabrication challenges ...... Catch tank and intake piping are the next items to hurt the brain. Like all modern fabricating race shops we turn to CAD for the design work! Yep, cardboard aide...d design sure does help when an unusual item needs fabricating Hopefully next weekend we will have both items mocked up and ready to commence. Thanks to Ian Price the last of the interior bling is installed. In Gridfilla land you have to be able to take as good as you give so of course I too have a shiney new dash ornament to compliment the ones I issued to the boys at Round 1 Have a safe week and we will see you next Sunday! See more

14.01.2022 Happy New Year It is for the little Sunny that's for sure Never really liked the design of the cheapie fabricated sump and now it was justified. A couple of oil leaks that seemed to be from nowhere in particular but were getting worse prompted the decision to scrap it .... Lucky we did Good bet that first meeting back at Wakefield Park would have resulted in a dead engine by the look of this ... Cast aluminium sump is already prepped and ready to go so the lesson here is probably to trust that gut feeling Counting down to race meeting #1 See more

14.01.2022 Saturday morning coffee on the verandah - chores can wait another 20 mins Love where we live

13.01.2022 Why race Improved Production? Well, you just might get to meet these couple of top blokes The Sunny has arrived at Wildridge Fabrications for the mens shed to help tackle the final list of jobs Notwithstanding our many years of friendship, this is the type of family vibe the IPRA community has - a desire to help each other go racing. It may not be why people start racing with us but is a real testimony to how many people continue to race with us year on year Exhaust,... brake bleed, spanner check and wheel alignment are just some of the jobs to be tackled.... Could not possibly get there without the Wildridge boys and am always amazed at the lengths they go to when a brother needs help Lookout world, things are getting real and it will soon be time to put up I think she looks great out in the sun and the Fireball Fusion Wax is already doing its job See you soon for the last updates See more

13.01.2022 Sometimes you wonder which tool or machine in the shed is the most useful .... This weekend the winner is the gas heater This little ripper helped keep the enthusiasm going while the cold winds blew The windscreen is in - yeehaa Thanks the the Gridfilla mens shed (and a massive heap of crumbed chicken strips ) the screen is done and the committee has offered a solution to my fresh air intake design. Win, win! With the screen in, the new Velo harness and my old comfy ...OMP seat could finally be installed. Feels just like home By simply putting the thermo fan on the other side of the radiator we found the extra room required for a non intrusive induction pipe. As we all know, all of these simple jobs only take 5 minutes ( ) but as a result of some simple advice and a weekend of constant chipping away we have the radiator top hose sorted, induction pipe sorted and the air box mocked up ready for fabrication. A great result AND got to wash the Amarok to boot Getting closer now - might even get to go racing soon Have a great week out of isolation! Cheers. See more

12.01.2022 Another weekend disappears as quickly as it arrived Just when you are on a time crisis all sorts of distractions turn up ....... Saturday was cut in half due to yard chores - the only downside of all this rain. Great for our dams but miss a week of mowing and the dog vanishes in the grass Sunday too cut in half ...... but when a mate asks if you can help cut a tree down ya gotta go! Three grown men with chainsaws - what could go wrong No lives lost and no buildings dam...aged so a great time had by all! Nonetheless progress was made and we are inching closer to that comeback First pic shows her back on all fours at last - seems like forever since I saw her on the ground! Second pic shows the cage all scuffed up ready for a good prepsol and paint. We will be going for Ford Titanium Silver just like the S15 to try and lighten up the cab area. Once painted we get to wrap the whole cage so that Matt can paint the floor and engine bay ....... Maybe a little bit more than that but you will have to wait a bit to find out exactly what we are up to Have a great week and we will catch up next Sunday! See more

12.01.2022 Why do we love where we live? When guys like this big blue tongue are camped outside your workshop Just hung out for a while and moved on at his own pace .... Hows the serenity

12.01.2022 Going to adopt this style for the Sunnys return 2020 When in doubt - flat out

11.01.2022 What does a really good U2L race engine look like? Funnily enough it can look suspiciously like a brand new driveway you have been waiting years for All the pain of being 75 rwhp down on the old days is suddeny gone when I look at this result Whilst racing is life, happy wife IS happy life Cannot wait to wash the tow rig outside the garage Have a great weekend - we are

11.01.2022 Good news for our Pulsar APRA racing buddies! A limited( very limited in fact) number of brake delete kits are available for immediate shipment. Grab yours now before the season restarts!!!

11.01.2022 How do you find out exactly how many muscles there are in the human body? Wrap your newly painted roll cage in plastic! You will feel all of them complaining the next day After a big week of painting, cleaning and wrapping we finally get to take the Sunny over to the Wildridge workshop for paint Suddenly it is all very real as once she comes home, all the bits go in for the last time ....... next stop trackday Engine bay and interior paint is a given and despite ..."only being a racecar" we will get her a new exterior paintjob so she is pretty for the debut We have been hanging on to those last panels of original paint but with only half the car left original and half in 2 pack it is time to get her all one colour - back to her genuine Datsun 678 blue Even had it mixed by an old school die hard to the exact old factory book so she will be as close to new as we can get! Plenty to do while Matt the legend does his thing so better get cracking!! See you next week See more

10.01.2022 It's race weekend After our great Trackday last Sunday we are ready to go for Sunday 4 October. Keep an eye on Natsoft for results and Blendline TV for all the race footage - can't wait

10.01.2022 Almost race weekend .... Like all racers, we too left the jobs from the end of last season until the last minute of this season Nonetheless, thanks to the help of Craig and Mark of the gridfilla 'men's shed' we have solved the mystery of the missing reverse gear A piece of the reverse / 5th gear selector had broken off and found a home just behind the idler so reverse would not engage Problem solved and the last piece of the pre season puzzle sorted! Big detail today so... she looks sweet for round one using both #Fireball and #Binder products. Talon high temp coating on the brake calipers and wheels has kept them super easy to keep clean while the Fusion Wax we applied to the paint last season still has an amazing shine A final Hydrphobic Foam coating post wash will ensure a final layer of protection and extreme water beading should we encounter any rain at the meeting Should anyone need any Motul RBF660 brake fluid or 75/140 gearbox oil shoot a message across and we can help you out! Full range of Binder detailing products in stock along with selected Fireball products should you need that extra 'edge' to try and knock the Wildridge team off their "best presented" pedestal Nearly race time - yee haa See more

10.01.2022 How good are rainy Saturdays Not hot, not cold and no yard chores can be done This can only mean garage time without interruption and as a result - some real progress! Replaced the oem pump from the new BF Falcon carrier with an aftermarket unit for future e10 upgrades and better flow characteristics. Install the carrier back in the tank and FINALLY refit it to the Sunny for the last time With the tank back in and the underfloor painted it was time to fit the watts lin...k - probably the last time it will look this good After what seems an eternity, we finally get to put the diff centre in the housing and refit the assembly ...... Feels great to put things in for the last time and reclaim some garage space Still miles to go but when you get to final fit something you feel that you are finally making progress!! Big shout out to Chris and his podcast "Shiney side up" for garage inspiration during the day Not that I always agree with Mic it was a really great listen and I hope they persist long enough to get the fan base they deserve Have a great weekend and make the best of our last long weekend of the year! See more

09.01.2022 Talk about a stimulus package ....... No racing and the prospect of a lockdown seems to have everyone in their garage getting things done Finally ticked of the last of the dont want to jobs so we are now a green light for serious progress Hard lines for the front brakes were giving me headaches as the Gridfilla rule of no brake lines in the engine bay was a tougher ask in the Sunny than the S15. Like all jobs, once you start they are not reall that bad after all and we are happy with the result! A lot of hours for something no one will see but that is the disease we are cursed with Good thing about building first, strip, paint then reassemble is that when you finally do put things back they look great Still plenty to do but we are getting there piece by piece and hopefully ready for May See you soon!

09.01.2022 Quiet times ...... End of season and Christmas just around the corner means no racecar activity - maybe Moved the old girl out to sweep the garage and the front wheel caught my eye. When you look at it, there is a LOT of brake in there Funny how it was not so obvious when we were building her but seems very noticeable now Once the racecar catches your eye it demands some attention so the rear bobtail is finally fitted. Will most likely slow us down with the engine we cu...rrently have but maybe one day it will be of some use Front spoiler will be the Christmas project and whilst we might look good in 2021 I am guessing our top speed at SMSP might be down 20kph Have a fantastic Christmas and cherish every moment you have with friends and loved ones - they are our true riches in life! See you 2021 See more

08.01.2022 Race season is upon us Entered Round 1 and counting the sleeps Great time to get the Sunny parts together so I can get access to the workshop areas that need painting. Now they are all in one place it may appear I might have enough spares ...... Of course not, always room for more Such is life when you have a really rare car but that in itself is the reason we love her Not long until we get to go racing again

08.01.2022 Its official .... The new ZTM tow rig has the correct plates fitted and nearly ready for next years season. Loved the last Amarok but 180kw and 550Nm will get us to the track in half the time Only have to build a racecar by February 2020 Happy days

08.01.2022 Hey IPRA NSW lads, How about some memories? Amazing what you find when cleaning up

07.01.2022 Not a Sunday but an early update is a good sign on a Saturday Finally, and I DO mean finally, all the engine bay bits are powder coated and installed for the last time! Like all just smash these in and get on with other jobs type plans, there was a drama to be negotiated The powder coater did a great job on all items and they look great BUT when you neglect to tell them not to coat your AN fittings ....... You get really well coated AN fittings Cut them off without damaging anything and drill / tap for some metric / AN fittings that were luckily in the garage stock! Really happy with the blue/black combination we have now More updates tomorrow ..... hopefully front end success this week

07.01.2022 Pusar oil filter relocators are back in stock!! Due to recent demands for our popular Pulsar oil filter relocators, we have rushed through a small batch to make it to Christmas. Only about 6 sets available so grab them while they are here! $159 plus postage or arrange pick up. PM through your details or call on 0415107090. Please spread the word to our Pulsar series mates if you know they have been trying to get one as they wont last long!

07.01.2022 Another week closer to the start of the race season ....... whenever that may be Sometimes the project seems to stall, due to waiting for parts or working on ares that are hidden from view - we were victims of both last week! Nonetheless we did get all the under dash brake plumbing done (the worst job ever ) and this week the goal was absolutely, positively, without fail, finish all the brake plumbing Yeah, nah Well you know the old saying, Suns out ........ aerosols ...out Such great weather meant that the interior refurb had to move to the top of the list. Turned out great and we are really happy to see it installed and ticked off the list Did actually get some brake plumbing done with the rear end finally complete! After realising that the hard line option was too much work for such a small run we decided to use black PVC coated dash 3 teflon braid. Not only looks good but will blend in perfectly on the black diff housing compared with steel line. The other challenge whenever I have used PVC coated braid is getting the PVC and the end of the fitting to look right A small piece of heat shrink tidies up the junction and makes the finished product worthy of never to be seen Have a safe and healthy week and we hope to have some more progress for you next week See more

07.01.2022 Not exactly an update but is .... sort of Things are still happening but they seem to be the inversely proportional or sliding doors type of moments ..... One hour job to bolt the front struts in and then we can move on to the other steering parts ..... Nooooo, not on a racecar Shock threads, shouldered nut, spring hat and locator all at war and not one will match the other Machine, weld, fabricate and machine again to make sure the whole day is consumed with the one... hour job. Ahhh the early model life Instead, we give you a clear picture of the Sunny with a coat of fireball fusion wax and an epic fail when you cannot figure out why the rain light that worked before paint suddeny blows fuses ...... yep, could not pinch that wire on a bet normally but hey, racecars have their own way of driving you mad See you soon! See more

06.01.2022 What a fantastic day It appears that you CAN have a great day without the latest and greatest! Firstly a few thank you's. Without Craig Wildridge and Mark Anthony I would never have finished this car and it was fantastic to have Craig there for the comeback! Thanks to Trackschool Trackdays for running a fantastic event! Easy to see why they are so popular with plenty of laps and a relaxed atmosphere - top notch A big thank you also to Mr Boston himself for having a stee...r and showing me how quick it COULD go Being a Datsun tragic, it was quite easy to lure him in for a drive of what is quite possibly the only racing 1979 Sunny Coupe in Australia The day dawned with about 6.5 degrees on arrival rather than the 0 to 2 degrees forecast so we were on for a great day Session 1 was bed rotors with old road pads and despite not stopping she was just like an old slipper and felt like home straight away. New pads for session 2 and hello brakes Small glitch being pinged by the noise meter saw a shorter session but Craig MacGyver got it sorted with some trackside engineering John's laps allowed me to see how she sat on the track and to get valuable feedback on where he thought we could make changes - priceless I now have a laptime reference that will help me refine my driving until I match John's time .... maybe The car was faultless and could have cut laps all day but the driver was worn out by mid afternoon As soon as we decided to pack up it began to sprinkle with rain! I think Dwayne might have organised what I would describe as the perfect day and did have his pic in the car with me all day so we both got to enjoy the return of our girl Finally, a big thank you to my wife Pam who has kindly stayed clear of the 'donkey on the edge' who has been trying to get this car finished for the last 4 weeks Lookout world, only 7 more sleeps until our first race meeting See more

06.01.2022 Another week in the ZTM bunker flies by and a little more progress on the coupe is the result A couple of distractions have the result a little smaller than we would have liked but progress is progress! Finally got the front brakes sorted and installed the clutch slave cylinder. One of those 5 minute jobs but after searching for half an hour for the bolts, you remember they were used on the S15 years ago Had spare bolts for everthing else in the car but not these ..... Yo...u know the next bit - tip the big tin of bolts on the floor and go exploring! Heaps of fun finding all sorts of curiosities but rarely the bolt you want Finally found, cylinder mounted and hose made .. 5 minutes or an hour and a half in the real world Even though not yet fitted, the new screen changes the whole car even just sitting in the opening! Cannot wait to fit it so the car seems real again. The last pic is the major distraction halting progress .... Whilst the whole 40 meters of fence was sprayed by the wife - you know that the role of assistant is demanding and relentless Great job and hopefully enough progress to keep the boss happy for a while rather than starting a tidal wave of property enhancement Have a great week, stay safe and keep working on that project! See you next weekend! See more

05.01.2022 Sunday night means a Sunny update - even during these crazy times Even though this rebuild has been an interseting journey for most, there are only a few who really know the importance of this comeback and what this cute little blue Datsun really means to me personally. Two of that small group are Craig and Matt Wildridge and I am truly blessed to have them in my life Craig has been a great friend for 30 years and I have watched Matt follow his dad around in the shed since... he could walk To have them both move heaven and earth to get the Sunny back to me in 1 week , yes 1 week is not only amazing but a geasture that I could never repay. The car looks awesome and so many other little jobs were also done because there are no "half jobs" leaving their workshop The pressure is on now to get her finished so I can get back to racing with all the boys and enjoying all the very best bits of life Look out boys, not long now See more

05.01.2022 Sunday wrap is all killa, no filla Well maybe Grid-filla but that is the goal after all A fantastic effort from the ZTM mens shed has seen all jobs ticked off ready for tune time. Fantastic to be working with Mark and Craig like the old days and the laughter was certainly therapeutic for all Of course none of it went smoothly ...... Rethinking of some of the suspension area caused Mark plenty of challenges whilst the exhaust was left to Craig as his skill with pipes... is second to none This left me with the menial tasks and the chore of fending off all their jibes but as a group we sure get things done Brake bleeding was going well until a small pool appeared in the cab. You know how it is ..... the leak is always in the least accessible spot. Yep, up under the dash and behind everything A quick nip up will fix it. Are you kidding Investigation shows it is likely a bad flare ... Whoever did it has to fix it so I go under the dash, on my back with the seat rails trying to disassemble the spine. Cut off old flare, reflare and try to reassemble with brake fluid dripping down the arm ... racecars love to show you who is the boss Leaking oil cooler proved to be a result of a marked AN seat so we got that right and the problem disappeared immediately! At least one easy fix A wheel alignment ticked off the last job and driving her out of the shed was a special moment indeed! Still plenty to do but we are so much closer now!! Again, massive thanks to the boys and there is no way we would be racing without their support! Looks like we are well on track for our Trackschool debut on 23 September See more

04.01.2022 When you have to sacrifice your holidays for the boss she has to shout the meals right

04.01.2022 Where have we been ??? Racing - or trying to After our great result at Wakefield Park it was time to face the music at the track that exposes all your weak points .... Whilst SMSP has never been a favourite in the Sunny, it was a tough ask to be positive knowing we are 75 rwhp down on the old days Having said that, we really did have a great meeting! Although the car was slower than M5 peak hour we did learn that the driver is soo rusty that a bowls hat may have to be ins...talled and in hindsight our little Sunny did all she was asked and didn't miss a beat all day! Lots and lots of set up needs addressing and the 'just get it finished' frenzy meant we are really just driving what we have An engine will come in the future but the early 2021 focus will be on getting the absolute best from what we currently have to make the best of any horsepower we may find. A BIG thank you again to the Gridfilla crew for the encouragement and we really are chuffed by the amount of officials who complimented us on the build quality and how gorgeous she is A final thank you to all our friends and followers who have stayed with us during our comeback journey, it really is great to know so many people are interested in our little car Have a safe and happy off season and we hope to have more adventures to share in 2021 See more

03.01.2022 Day 2 of the annual leave day challenge and things are getting done at last First pic is one of the reasons why people ask why do racecars take so long to build ...... Simple bracket to hold the brake fluid reservoir turned into this monster due to the location Once powdercoated and installed no one will probably notice so well worth the effort 99% of the welding done Double check Friday arvo to make sure then roll cage paint Saturday ....... Look out Matty, it looks like it is really going to happen

02.01.2022 Another week and another inch closer! Not as much achieved this week as hoped but actual work and some house chores eroded some of that special shed time. Induction pipe now has the MAF sensor mount welded in and the decision has been made for the design of the heat shield for it. Airbox mark 2 is mocked up and aluminium components will be sorted this week for (hopefully) a completed item next weekend Managed to get the rear spoiler 95% sorted with only a couple of minor adjustments to go. Oil catch tank is also done but waiting for the airbox so we can powdercoat everything together. Have a great week waiting for that long weekend to arrive and hopefully we have a great update to go with it!

02.01.2022 Why do we even bother with all this fussing about and getting it right? Well sometimes you are lucky enough to get the answer and then have it put into perspective ... We want our car to look great and to enjoy it and for all the effort to be recognised by our peers. Luckily we got a visit from IPRA NSW latest video sensation and gun RX7 steerer Mr J.L. himself and it was great to get positive feedback from a guy with such a great looking racecar himself (tick). Joey knows ...how much effort goes into making the un noticable un noticable so it was great to chat along those lines (tick). For the final part of the puzzle, one of my grandsons visited today to check out poppys racecar. Well the other two pieces of the puzzle disappeared as we watched a wide eyed three year old jump around inside grabbing every lever, touching every button and turning every knob It made his day and ours too So it appears not all the joy comes from competition or winning but the people you share it with Some small progress has happened however! Finally got S14 wheel studs, drilled the hubs and pressed them in Calipers on and brake lines connected - yay, only a week later than planned Removed the factory bonnet catch. Big deal, 5 minute job You know it aint so .... but worth the effort to get the bonnet to sit right and 250g less weight means another coffee and friand for the driver Also managed to finish the Fireball Fusion wax coating and boy does she shine! Will gloss up even more over the next 24 hours and will be super hydrophobic. Cannot wait to see her out in the sun!! Still aiming for Wakefield end September but plenty to do ..... better have a go then hey See you next week! See more

01.01.2022 What a great weekend watching the Gridfilla boys rip it up at round 1 of the State Championships at Wakefield Park Great weather, great racing and few dramas so almost a perfect start to the season! Enthusiasm at the ZTM bunker is at an all time high after watching Matty Wildridge drive at 100% all weekend to finally beat the old man To prove that it was not all talk at the track, we have removed the engine and gearbox with a big day of welding tomorrow to get everything ready for paint prep Goal is to paint the cage next Saturday and hopefully have her ready to send to Wildridge Fabrications next week. Wish us luck

01.01.2022 Motorsport 101..... Build garage credits the easy way with this simple plan: Let wife take your brand new shiny Amarok to work and then go crazy with all the Fireball products on her car Might earn a couple of brownie points .... maybe ... I hope
