19.01.2022 Young Thunder striking opportunities in America. @Frankie Tinilau(DL) @Griffith University Thunder went from winning the junior nationals (2019) with the Sun De...vils to an opportunity at one of Americas top high school programs Calabasas High. Here he would have an opportunity to learn from former NFL players and Mentored by Domata Peko current NFL Defensive Tackle. *How did you get involved with football ? At the time I was in High School playing club football when actually my school teacher Tommy Corwin had brought the idea of me learning the game of Gridiron. *What was the process of you getting to America ? A lot of planning and stress behind the scenes, wasn’t so easy the first time I went over you learn that this game is more than a sport it’s really a hustle for international Athletes. *What is the biggest difference of football in America compared to Australia? The difference between football in America and Australia is in the states football for most athletes is their only ticket out off the streets and out of trouble. I personally feel the passion and pride these athletes play with is incredible. They play with their hearts and it becomes no just a sport but simply a lifestyle. Advice for those wanting to go play football in America ? If you are coming over to play football or at any level you will learn to be a Student Athlete. Student first at both high school and college level. High school colleges are serious about grades, You could be the top player in the nation but without your grades you just another athlete. Trust me I have seen so many players over there that were Averaging 4 touchdowns and ran for 300+ yards a game and are now taking orders at ChickFillA. What are a few things you have learnt about yourself on your football journey ? Throughout my past journey nothing has come easy. Nothing is gifted to you and being that international player this is their sport so it’s like playing with a target on your back. You have to train with the intentions of being the best, push yourself past any limits. The biggest key factor is learning to be mature at a young age not many 15 yr olds move to the other side of the world in a new environment. Yes I was always with a parent but learning to do things on my own was what made me better. Good luck to you on your journey #gqprofiles #gogq #griffithuniversitythunder #trenches

03.01.2022 Who would have thought playing Madden will lead Bayside Ravens Gridiron Club Defensive linemen on a path towards making the CFL. @Joel Maddock started his foot...ball career at Bayside, taking an opportunity to Arizona Western (JuCo) and earning a scholarship to Div1 school Central Connecticut State University. Joel felt the true spirit of football back in his rookie season with the Ravens when his mother had passed away, walking into the locker room before the game his teammates embraced him with open arms. This gave Joel the strength to play his most physical dominating game in his career. *What is the biggest difference of football in America compared to Australia? I would say there are two major differences. The first being is football IQ. In college you spend around 40 hours a week just on football so it is required that you have a high understanding of the game and understand what your assignment is. In Australia it is a lot less controlled, guys generally haven’t had the coaching so they tend to go out there a freelance a lot. The second difference I would say is the physicality. Playing in the trenches in America is like an explosion of power every snap, compared to my experiences playing in Australia where we have a tendency to play with high pad level and not launch into each other as much. *Advice for those wanting to play football in America ? Go for it, understand that it will be one of the hardest journeys you take on but also the most rewarding. Understand that you will be leaving your family and things that you are comfortable with won’t be there. Expect yourself to work hard because there are no favors in college football. You will be successful if you are willing to put in the time but sacrifices will have to be made if you want to take this path, like my coach in college always said, this football shit isn’t for everybody. *What are a few things you have learnt about yourself on your football journey ? Biggest thing I have learnt is that I am resilient and wont take no for an answer. I was told by many coaches in Australia that I couldn’t play college ball and then was told by American coaches I couldn’t play division 1 college ball. But I never listened and whenever I was told no it has made me want to work harder and I think I proved a lot of people wrong. In football you are going to be told no a lot or you cant do something, but it depends on the character of the man to prove them wrong and give it everything you have. Thank you Joel for Sharing #baysideravens #gogq #jucoproduct #trenches
