19.01.2022 I miss you, son Did you know that I loved you so very much? Psalms, beautiful Psalms written by G-d's faithful, talented man Songs written by King David to rejoice in G-d's ways, to trust HaShem with all that we do, knowing that it's part of the grander plan for when we meet up again with the missing parts of our souls.

01.01.2022 Like another world, another person I see in this photo. When everyone was relatively ‘normal’, whatever that means. Indeed, where Oscar Wilde says we merely exist and implies we should do more living’ I wonder, what does that mean? Everyone understands that life doesn’t exist without death, but rarely would a person actually live their day as if it were their last. What would those conscious movements and interactions look like? We don’t allow ourselves to become frozen by ...the thought of our heart stopping. It terrifies most, is incomprehensible to others and we spend a lot of our time deciding which fruit to eat in the morning so as to lengthen our lives as much as possible. Nobody really wants to die and most don’t think about it because it hasn’t been something they’ve been confronted with in their life. Nobody escapes though, it’s just a matter of time and who. All deaths are difficult to cope with, I’ve only experienced the tragic ones, the ones that shouldn’t happen if life were fair. Every death will change your outlook yet other deaths come along and destroy the very essence of who you are. So, what does it mean to live a life and not merely exist? If you’re confronted with grief each and every waking moment, unfortunately, the people around you still have expectations, the world keeps turning and doesn’t wait for you to catch up. If I travel 3 times a year, have oodles of money, and go out every weekend and love my job, does that mean I’m living more consciously than someone who is unable to travel, has an average amount of money, has 3 children and goes out once a month? Really, what are the defining features of a life well lived? What if you’re only on earth for 5 years? 105 years? In the 28 months that I’ve pondered this conundrum, I think at least part of the secret of being able to say someone lived a good life, not merely to exist but to mean something to the world, is in the way they made people feel. Their relationships, feelings towards others, acts of kindness and giving of themselves to others is, when all is said and done, what people remember. How we feel about the other and how the other feels about us. Did they feel good after speaking with us? Did we listen, understand, help and encourage? It’s how much we felt about and towards the person that defines the depth of grief, how long we stay there and how we integrate death into the life we are left to live. The depth of love can help us to come back to the surface and breathe again, with the memories our life jacket. Gee, that person lived every day as though it was their last. I think what they’re really saying is that this person made me and everybody around them feel as though they were the most important person in the world.
