19.01.2022 We are sending our thoughts and tap love to all those in Melbourne who are back in lockdown. Even though this comes as a small setback, we are still moving forw...ard with the festival from Sept 26 - Oct 3. The classes and small events will run, it may be in a new location, stay tuned for exciting update (you can sign up to our mailing list via our website www.atdf.com.au). It has been confirmed that the festival gala will be postponed to 2021. EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST If you are keen to attend but unsure currently due to restrictions, expressions of interest to place a hold on your spot have opened via our registration page- there is no payment required to submit. We will then keep you informed on border updates and also plans for running festival classes in your city during the festival week and confirm with you on August 31. To save your spot, register here- https://events.humanitix.com/australian-tap-dance-festival- 2020 FESTIVAL INTENTIONS We wanted to share the committee’s intentions behind keeping the festival running in 2020 and reassure you we are aware of the current climate and that we are taking all precautions and implementing plans that will have your health & safety at the forefront of our planning. - The arts industry and the tap faculty were hit hard during 2020 and as a representative body for the art form in Australia, we feel it is as important as ever to support and provide an income for the artists where we can, via our festival, and also continue to promote and share all Tap events and shows that are commencing again after many forced cancellations. - To further support artists, we have set up a donation stream on our registration page for patrons of the arts who can afford any amount to contribute to our festival faculty fund that will be distributed amongst the artists at the end of the festival. - Furthermore, with the year that has been of online video classes and electronic catch ups, bringing the community together to connect, share and support each other as soon as we can is imperative. BEHIND THE SCENES The Festival committee runs primarily on a volunteer basis and this year some sponsorship funding has been placed on hold due to the current climate, so we are minimising our own costs by choice to be able to continue to support the industry. The festival is about ensuring it is accessible to all and to continue the education of the art form to build and create more opportunities for Tap dancers throughout Australia & NZ. REGISTRATIONS We have extended the early bird prices and do require a certain number of registrations to ensure the festival can run, we would encourage you to register if you are intending to join us and if in the unlikely circumstance we have to cancel the entire event or travel circumstances change, you will be eligible to a full refund. Sending out a big high five to all of our students, past and present, who have been braving theatre and dance school auditions for tertiary courses over the past month. Chookas to all who are yet to put themselves on the line, and for those who’ve had or are going into call-backs! 10.01.2022 Hi guys, A few people have asked me how the ‘bug-that-shall-not-be-named’ might impact dance classes. Short story is - business as usual until I inform you all otherwise.... We will only suspend classes if: - We have a confirmed case in the studio - New measures are put in place by governments that force us to take a break. If you come to dancing - just make sure you wash your hands before and after. I want to help us all stay sane and have a little normality at this time. GDS classes will be a ‘virus chat’ free zone so that students can escape all the uncertainty for a bit. We appreciate that communal support helps deal with anxiety too though, so anyone who wants some Corona-free company at the end of classes can stick around with me for a cuppa and a vent. You’re welcome to call me at any time or regular students can use the chat groups we have in place if they need to reach out to our community. I will also be looking to video / live stream classes so that students can keep busy with something they love and keep their bodies in motion if they’d like / need to do so from home. I will support students with flexibility around paying for classes and payment policies on a case by case basis. Stay patient and kind and just use your common sense - we’re all in it together. There may be better ways to do this, but all teachers are frantic at the moment and I haven't had a chance to look beyond the means that I'm already familiar with. 04.01.2022 Online Dance Classes: Hi all, This weekend I'll be doing some live streamed classes and prerecorded classes. How it works:... PACKAGE 1 For $10/ week (paid upfront on Mondays), you get access to: - A 45 minute pre-recorded class - A document with some exercises that you can use at your leisure throughout the week PACKAGE 2 For $15 (paid upfront on Mondays) you get access to: - All of the above + access to a live online class with me via zoom. ** Any students under the age of 18 yrs are advised that there privacy cannot be ensured while we're using zoom and they should only participate at their parents discretion. Package 1 is recommended.** I will be holding 2 live sessions this weekend: Saturday March 28 10am - Beginner / Inter Tap 11am - Beginner / Inter Jazz Sunday March 29 10am - Inter / Adv Tap 11am - Inter / Adv Jazz From Monday, March 30, online classes will be held at their regular times.
