11.01.2022 --------Help Senior Iyengar Yoga Teacher Frank Jesse------------ Raise your voice. Let's put an end to the brutal shooting of kangaroos in and around Dunkeld. Please share the video and email Key points... Kangaroo killing and tourism are NOT compatible. Shooting is taking place close to tourism facilities, and the perimeter of Dunkeld with kangaroo parts left strewn close to public facilities, including schools. Locals including us who complain are threatened and harassed by shooters and dismissed by tourism authorities, and local government. Four - years on from our first complaint the shooting continues with escalating threats to ours and others lives. According to the 2016 census, tourism employs more people in Dunkeld than farming. Yet we are seeing practices that will drive local and (post-COVID) international tourist away. Solutions 1. Create a 15-km no-shooting safety zone around DUNKELD immediately before more frustrated and distraught tourism operators pack up and leave. 2. Demand an immediate moratorium on shooting in and around Dunkeld township. 3. Get together with regional tourism operators and listen to the practices/realities at large in our area.
