25.01.2022 GCDRU Seniors Round 8 11th / 12th September 2020 Helensvale Hogs Rugby Club Kickoff 1’s 3:15pm/ 2’s 1:40pm... 3’s Friday Night 6:30pm Round 8 takes us North bound this week to take on Helensvale Hogs in all 3 grades. If there’s a week for you to make the journey out to watch the games this is it as it’s sure to be a deadset beauty across all 3 games. 3rds kick us off tonight at 6:30pm and what a side they’ve put together this week. After long injury lay offs and work commitments the troops have returned. Paea Siulangapo returns to the club after a couple years of retirement and the man mountain is sure to be a handful Friday night after a brief cameo in 2’s last week. His partner in crime Pila Kelo is also back on deck after a few minor injuries have held him out of action and I think the whole club is excited to see the great man back on the paddock. Uncle Georgey is putting together a scary side heading into Finals that’s a FACT! 2nd Grade are coming off a huge 76-0 win against Palm Beach last week with the backline finally kicking into gear and the confidence should roll into this week nicely for the lads. Austin Campion returns after an injury lay off to add some serious speed to the backline and he’s partnered this week by Mitch McCabe in the centres. After a huge 3 try 8 Goal performance last week Kynan Stowers will look to bring the same energy again this week to help the boys get the chocolates. 1st Grade go into this week with only the one change with Kerry Martin going into the front Row and we will be carrying a couple of Fresh Impact players on the bench in Cass Walding & Rubin Fuiamono. The boys had a solid win last week but this is the one they’ve all been waiting for. Jarrod Nyssen will Look to guide the boys around again this week and exciting outside centre Larry Hermens will look to continue his great run of form, Number 8 and Captain Jaye Paton will be front and centre for everything as per usual and is chomping at the bit to rip in this weekend. It’s going to be a very exciting weekend at Hogs so be sure to get out for a look. OWTK

24.01.2022 GCDRU Seniors Round 9 Dedicated to Richard Curtin 18th / 19th September 2020... 18th - 3’s @ Nerang Rugby Club 19th - 1’s/2’s @ Eagles Rugby Club Kickoff 1’s 3:15pm/ 2’s 1:40pm 3’s Friday Night 6:30pm What a top class weekend last weekend! 3 from 3 out at Hogs is always a special achievement but onto the next! Round 9 begins tonight with our Mighty 3rd grade heading to Nerang to take on Surfers Paradise with the lads looking to get on a roll. The Injection of Paea and Pila last week was nothing short of magical to watch but it was new Knight Kalolo (Lolly) Fale who stole the show with his bruising aggression in defence the highlight so he will be sure to be in the thick of things again Friday. Paul Carey and Chris Manby will be sure to show their class tonight with a big win predicted for the boys. 2nd Grade go into this weeks matchup on the back of easily their best performance of the season. Jake Allen is carrying a slight groin injury so will come off the bench this week with Wayde Scott starting at Hooker and Tiki Harawira coming back into the side at 6. One change in the backline with Caleb Barker coming in at 13 with his explosive running style sure to give the 2’s the spark needed to put on a show. Nathan Land is still a week away from returning which will be a nice headache to have fitting him in after the Bye weekend. The 1st grade side just keep on rolling like a well oiled machine. Johnny has the boys in fine form at the moment but he’s guaranteed that they haven’t hit their ceiling yet. Cass Walding comes back into the starting side at 10 this week and Is joined in the run on side by big Rubin Fuiaumono in the second row, that’s a lot of experience between them two lads so look for a very polished display this weekend. For the punters out there Sportsbet currently have Kerrod Martorella at $3 for Anytime Tryscorer with Kerrod saying That’s ridiculous, I’ll score 3 this week I should be $1.10 take it as you will but could be some value there. 19.01.2022 GCDRU Seniors Round 10 25th / 26th September 2020 25th - 3’s @ Home 26th - 1’s @ Home... Kickoff 1’s 3:15pm/ 3’s Friday Night 6:30pm Great weekend on the paddock last weekend with all sides taking home maximum points to really improve positions on the ladder and extend the Club Championship lead. This week we return home with 1’s and 3’s taking on Bond with two very entertaining games on the cards. 3’s kick us off tonight and after a forfeit last week the boys are all frothing at the mouth none more so than Coach George Vea who cannot wait to get out there and rip in. Looking at the side is scary let alone playing it but the thing I’m most looking forward to is watching centre pairing Wally Tipene and Pila Fifita crash it up the midfield. Two intimidating players both in attack and defence so look for them to have plenty of opportunity off the back of a very experienced and sizeable forward pack. 3’s by 40. 2nd grade get the Bye this weekend and after two top of the table clashes it couldn’t come at a better time. Coach Lee Nesdale and Captain Shaun Cole are both over the moon with the progress the boys are showing and the week off will do wonders for the lads heading into the back end of the season. 1’s head into this weekend with a number of changes some were forced and others just to give a few boys a freshen up who are carrying a few bumps and bruises. Tiki Harawira and Wayde Scott jump into starting spots in the pack this week after both starring recently in 2’s and Blayne Wanoa jumps on a wing this weekend where he has already bagged several tries this season in his 1st Grade Cameos off the bench. For the punters out there, Sportsbet currently has Kadison Graham at $2.20 to make 2+ Line Breaks on the day and not have the speed to make the tryline. 16.01.2022 It’s with great Sadness that we advise of the passing of Junior Coach Richard Curtin overnight. Richard was a great supporter of local rugby both with us and the Surfers Paradise club and his selflessness, passion and dedication for Coaching was always second to none. Richard took our Under 16’s to a Premiership in 2018 and you wouldn’t see a prouder man when he come back to the clubhouse with the trophy in hand!... Our deepest condolences go out to the Curtin Family at this time. You will be sorely missed but certainly not forgotten. RIP Richard OWTK

Senior Men's pre-season training will commence on Tuesday 19th and Thursday 21st January 2021 at 6:30pm. All current and new players welcome. 10.01.2022 What a great season from our Knights Girls 7s teams. The U16s unfortunately were defeated in semis but their efforts throughout the season have been absolutely amazing. Our U18s played their final against UQ. After clawing back into the game with a kick from the sideline by Captain Tiana Raftstrand-Smith the game was sent into extra time. With only seconds remaining on the clock one of the youngest members of the squad Skye Raftstrand-Smith scores the winning try to bring... the Gold back to the Gold Coast. Such a great achievement from all involved in our girls 7s program including not only the players but the coaches and families who travelled up the M1 each Sunday. The club would like to acknowledge the tremendous effort and time that Richie Kingi has put in over the past two seasons in helping develop such a successful program at the Knights and laying the foundation for the future. OWTK!!!
