12.01.2022 Dogs can get car sick while riding in the car & often this leads to travel anxiety. Puppies are more often affected by motion sickness & many grow out of it around one year old. Feeling sick whenever they are in the car doesn’t help build a positive association for your dog, which contributes to the anxiety they feel when they have to go for a car ride. The good news is, there are ways we can help them. If you have a dog that gets car sick or is anxious about travelling, please call us on 02 6962 3142.

12.01.2022 Planning a vacation with your pet this holiday season? We thought a pet checklist would be helpful in the chaos of preparing a trip. Check if their vaccination are up-to-date. Check if they are microchipped and if their microchip details are current and correct. Make an appointment for their Health Check so you know they are in good health and get all their preventative care organised. If your pet has travel sickness, you can ask your vet for medication that they might need t...o keep them calm and happy while you all are on the road. Check on your pet's food stock and make sure you have plenty of their medications. Keep a Pet First aid kit handy with you. These are available by special order from us; ask our team for any help preparing for your holiday. It has been a very stressful year, it is now the time to relax and enjoy the company of the people we love.

07.01.2022 Cat Vaccinations Vaccination is recommended for all cats to prevent against important infectious diseases, some of which are potentially fatal. Your vet can advise you on which vaccines are required based on your cat's lifestyle.... Here are two questions that veterinary professionals are often asked about cats: QUESTION: My cat is strictly an indoor cat so I don’t see why he needs any vaccinations. Answer: Indoor cats are still at risk for a wide variety of diseases. Also, you can never be 100% certain your indoor cat won’t ever get outside, or the new cat you adopted is not harbouring a disease that can be transmitted to other cats. And while indoor cats may be exposed to fewer diseases than outdoor cats, indoor cats may be exposed to many disease pathogens. We recommend vaccinations and parasite control measures for all cats regardless of where they spend their time. QUESTION: It seems like my cats have to get a lot of vaccinations. Do they really need all of them? ANSWER: Your veterinarian will determine the vaccinations your cats need based on factors such as age and lifestyle e.g. do they have any outdoor access. The important thing to remember is serious infectious feline diseases are still prevalent and your cats are at risk of contracting them if they are not vaccinated against them. If your kitten/cat is needing a vaccination or you are wanting to know more information about your cat's preventative care plan, feel free to speak to one of our team members. Also, our friends at Boehringer Ingelheim have put together important information about cats and their care. Have a quick read at: https://haveweseenyourcatlately.com.au/

03.01.2022 Vaccination has revolutionised control of infectious disease in our pets. It is essential that all pets are adequately vaccinated to help protect the pet population as a whole. Responsible pet care requires puppies and kittens to be given their initial course of vaccinations, but this cannot protect them for the rest of their lives. Adult dogs and cats require regular vaccination to maintain immunity against dangerous diseases. Please give us a call on 6962 3142 to discuss a suitable vaccination regime for your furry friend.
