14.01.2022 We're celebrating 50 years! On 12 April 1971, the gates of Griffith Pioneer Park Museum opened, realising the dream of founder Charles Sharam, who, along with o...ther volunteers, worked for several years to make his dream a reality. 50 years on, the Museum continues to live ‘One Man’s Dream’, preserving and sharing our region’s history. To mark this milestone, Pioneer Park Museum is embarking on a program of activities throughout the year, kicking off this April long weekend. Due to COVID the Museum’s annual Action Day usually held on Good Friday, will not go ahead this year. However, we would like to invite the community to join in our year-long celebrations, with a range of workshops, exhibitions, tours, and displays on offer throughout 2021. Celebrations will begin Monday 5 April, where memories of the past 50 years will be projected onto the water tower opposite the Museum during the evenings until 12 April. People are invited to come and park in the Museum carpark and view the images which will highlight the many events and achievements of the Museum over the past 50 years. The anniversary week will also feature an anniversary luncheon on Saturday 10 April for the volunteers of Pioneer Park and their families, and a new exhibition about Pioneer Park called ‘One Man’s Dream: Treasures of Pioneer Park Museum’. The exhibition will be on display 5 12 April from 10am 3pm each day. Floor talks on the exhibition will also be conducted by the Curator throughout the week, with bookings essential. To book a floor talk or for any enquiries about the Pioneer Park Museum 50th anniversary please visit our website: www.griffithpioneerpark.com.au

01.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS: Calabria Family Wines purchases McWilliams Wines. Some huge news in Griffith today. Great to see the iconic McWilliams Wines will remain in the h...ands of a Griffith-based family. Media release from Calabria Family Wines Riverina and Barossa Valley winemaker Calabria Family Wines has acquired a piece of Australian wine history with the purchase of McWilliam’s Wines, announced today by KPMG and selling agent Colliers International. The sale, which is set to be complete by 30 April, will see the Griffith-based Calabria family take ownership of the McWilliam’s brands, intellectual property, and stock holdings as well as the Hanwood vineyard, winery and cellar door. It is a great honour for our family to become the proud custodians of Australian winemaking history with the purchase of McWilliam’s Wines. Despite recent challenges, we know the McWilliam’s name carries a long and prestigious reputation as one of Australia’s oldest wine producers, third-generation General Manager Michael Calabria said. McWilliam’s was established in 1877 and has become one of Australia's leading family-owned wineries. With six consecutive generations of winemakers and over 140 years of experience, McWilliam’s has established a range of premium vineyard holdings across the Riverina and New South Wales. We have great respect for the McWilliam family and the impact they have had on the Australian wine industry. Dad (Bill Calabria, AM) loves sharing stories about the pioneering family and often spends an afternoon chatting and visiting with Jim McWilliam (96 years). We are committed to honouring the McWilliam’s legacy as we bring their portfolio of outstanding wines into our very own, third-generation Sales & Marketing Manager Andrew Calabria said. Local members of the McWilliam family are pleased that the Hanwood winery and the McWilliam’s Wines business will continue under the control of the Calabria family and that their passion for the local region, brands and history of the company will continue under their family ownership. We have had a close and enduring relationship over many years and look forward to working with the Calabria family in the future, fifth-generation Greg McWilliam said. As part of the transition process, Calabria Family Wines will work with KPMG and McWilliam’s to ensure a smooth transition as the business changes hands.
