22.01.2022 Inaugural Indigenous Law Reform and Advocacy Competition The Australian National University is inviting law students across Australia to produce a 5-10 minute video clip addressing the following question: In 2020, tens of thousands of Australians took part in ‘Black Lives Matter’ protests, in solidarity with protestors from the US and other parts of the world. What law reforms do we need in Australia to give effect to the Black Lives Matter movement’s goals and how will these... reforms best be achieved? Students of all ages, year levels and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The event will be run online over November 2020, with the shortlisted videos being presented before a panel of prominent members of the legal community with experience in this space. In light of the current COVID-19 situation and social distancing, please join us and Jacqui Owen from the College of Law for an ONLINE presentation about Practical Legal Training (PLT) via ZOOM on Thursday 10 September at 2pm. This information session will give you the lowdown on PLT at The College of Law - in particular, how the week one PLT workshops is being conducted via Zoon du...ring the COVID-19 crisis. Come find out more about College of Law's Practical Legal Training course, including: - When you can start - What it involves - Length of the course - Attendance modes - Work experience requirements - Upcoming Queensland dates including how the week one workshops will be conducted online in light of COVID-19 We will also have some handy hints on how to accelerate your PLT for students in the earlier years of their law degree. 10.01.2022 We are pleased to announce the grand finalists of the Ashurst Junior Moot competition! Congratulations to the following teams: - Emily Lackner and Tin Pham - Matt Crompton and Courtney Smith... This was an extremely difficult competition to decide. All teams performed excellently and the total margin between the highest-scoring and the lowest-scoring team was under 10%. Teams that did not progress to the final should still feel proud of their amazing performances. The Grand Final will be held at 5pm, Thursday 10 September and will be streamed live here.
