24.01.2022 R2S feedback closes today, submit your feedback to [email protected] What is Griffith’s Roadmap to Sustainability? The Roadmap to Sustainability (R2S) is Griffith’s plan for responding to the challenges that the University has faced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of R2S Griffith are proposing a series of organisational changes. You can see an overview of the proposal here: http://griffith.edu.au/students/roadmap-sustainability... The University have stated that the removal of programs and courses identified by R2S as no longer viable will not affect students already enrolled. Students will be able complete their degrees. However students are reporting to the SRC that they believe their student experience will be impacted by the proposed changes. The SRC/GUPSA want to support students to contribute their feedback to the proposal. We are working together on a submission to summarise our overall feedback. However we also strongly encourage all students to write their own submissions, to best reflect the individual experiences of our diverse student body. Information and guidance on how to write a submission is available on our website here https://griffithsrc.com.au/src-summary-of-key-points-for-c/ Students can also contact the SRC’s Advocacy Service for further support in understanding the impact of these proposed changes, or for help in drafting an individual submission. For more information, visit https://griffithsrc.com.au/advocacy-appeals/

17.01.2022 y everyone, Yasmin here with a timely video to help you transform exam stress into a tool to help you perform better! The research points to very high levels of exam stress being really negative to the exam achievement and mental health. But at the same time, stress helps us preform by improving our focus, attention and arousal as we walk into an exam. So how can we try and strike the right balance ? 3 tips explored in the video that can help in making stress work for y...ou and not against you: 1. Read your body differently: mentally framing our body’s stress response as a tool for preparing us for the challenge ahead. 2. Adding to our resources: How can your improve your readiness for the challenge ahead? This might look like studying in different ways and practicing in exam settings. 3. Reframing the meaning of exams: Some of us get caught up in using exams as a way of evaluating our own self worth, identity, hopes and dreams. It’s important to move away from this and remember that exams are one event in a big picture! 4. Accepting stress and negative emotions: trying to ignore stress or make it go away quickly reaffirms it being innately negative. It is important to be aware of our own emotional states and accepting that being stressed is normal and natural. People who are aware of their feelings are found to perform better in high stress situations. On that note, it’s good to know that students of Griffith University have available to them a wide range of support services. 03.01.2022 Hi everyone, Yasmin here with a video discussing managing self doubting thoughts. It’s a fact that almost everyone experiences feelings of self doubt throughout their lives. In fact even very successful people feel self doubt in their life journeys. But what happens when these self doubting thoughts start to become unhealthy in terms of our goal achievement and mental health? In this wellness video, we discuss two common instances in which self doubt effects students:... subjective overachievement: Those who work harder to compensate for a perceived position of deficit Underachieving: Reducing effort levels to avoid the consequence of working hard and failing. In both of these instance, the following tips could be of handy to help manage these self doubting thoughts: 1. Reframing how we respond to feelings of doubt : Is doubt a reason to back down or a natural consequence of a challenging situation? 2. Focusing in on the process 3. Reflecting on past successes On that note, it’s good to know that students of Griffith University have available to them a wide range of support services.
