With the current situation, it is my number one priority to ...keep all of our members and families safe & healthy. On a positive note, once all of this current situation passes and it is safe for us to all get together again we will have a presentation afternoon down at the skate park. 21.01.2022 http://IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL PROGRAMS// As I am sure you are aware, COVID-19 (otherwise known as Coronavirus) continues to infect people all over Australia. Thankfully, it has not yet reached our community. The best advice we have received to date is that it is unlikely that this virus can be contracted through pool water, however the health authority advise us to maintain a social distance of 1.5 metres. This is very difficult to achieve when conducting Learn to Swim Classes..., Squad Sessions & Aqua Aerobics. With an abundance of caution we have today made the decision to cancel effective immediately all our Learn to Swim, Swim Squads & Aqua Aerobics programs until further notice. We trust you will understand that this decision was not taken lightly. Everyone who has been affected by this cancellation will receive a credit towards the next block of lessons/sessions later in the year. Our town pool will remain open as normal, just remember to maintain a safe social distance of 1.5 meters from other swimmers. 14.01.2022 The Royal Life Saving National Drowning Report identified 248 drowning deaths (which is an 8% decrease) occurred across Australia in 2019/20, (62 in Queensland).... 36% of drownings occurred in major cities. 80% of drowning were male, with the peak age group for drowning being 25-34 years. There has been a 52% decrease in drowning for the 0-4 age group. Royal Life Saving Queensland CEO Paul Barry said Royal Life Saving is urging Queenslanders to supervise children around water, ensure their pool fence is in good working order in the lead up to summer, and to create safe play areas for children on properties with dams. 12.01.2022 BOWEN SWIMMING POOL TO REOPEN The Bowen Swimming Pool will reopen tomorrow at 5.30am (Saturday, 16th May 2020), following the easing of QLD State Government COVID-19 restrictions. As some restrictions remain in place the interim 'Conditions of Entry' will be as follows:... - Lap swimming and exercise only, recreational swimming will not be permitted - One person per lap swimming lane - A maximum of 10 swimmers per pool - No spectators, except for up to one parent/carer per child, if necessary - Community showers and change rooms are closed, toilets remain open - Shower with soap before and after swimming (at home, not at the pool) - At all times, BE SMART, KEEP 1.5m APART - Hand sanitising will be required upon entering the facility - Any flu-like symptoms will result in patrons not being allowed to enter the facility. We appreciate all patrons complying with these operating arrangements and the COVID-19 restrictions to ensure our facilities remain open and we all remain healthy and safe.
