24.01.2022 This week we turned off the 4 year old wethers after 33 days on brassica. A b-double load went to Fletchers to go over the hooks at $6.20. 501 wethers AVERAGED 35.98kg dressed to return $223.08, sold by Elders Yass. Top 149 AVERAGED 40.5kg. The tail of 160 made $190 at SELX estimated at 32kg dressed. These sheep cut 9.3kg wool in May at 19.3 micron and 69.5% yield. 18.01.2022 We kicked off our general shearing today with this run of rising 4 yr old wethers. It was a pleasure to see the immense wool cut and frame. The wool is soft and bright and kept the dust out well over summer. The shearers did a fantastic job! #merino #wool #beyondthebale #merinosheep #woolfordays

17.01.2022 We had Michael Coggan from Elders Yass out yesterday drafting and weighing store Merino Wether lambs. They will be offered on Auctions Plus next week as we try to capitalise on the extraordinary store lamb prices! @elders_limited

16.01.2022 We finished shearing the wethers today at Yarra and in the wash up the older wethers AVERAGED 9.3kg for a mob of 690. They should yield well as we shore ewes a month ago that went 71-72%. From November to April they were fed 1kg of barley per head per week with minimal paddock feed. 14.01.2022 We received the tests on the wool from all the adult sheep this week. These are the main fleece lines. Was really pleasing to see such good yields after the year we have been through. (No backs were removed). 4 yr wethers cut 9.3kg, mixed age stud ewes 8kg, stud maidens 8.8kg (2 yr ewe in photo), mixed age flock ewes (F Ewes in photo) 7.3kg, 2 yr flock ewes 7.8kg, 2 yr wethers 7.4kg. #qualityandquantity #grogansworth #grogansworthmerinos #heavycutters #woolfordays #beyondthebale #nswstudmerinobreeders #awi #merinowool #merinosheep

12.01.2022 We weighed a sample of these wethers last week prior to putting them on brassica. They averaged 72kg, including one whopper at 99.5kg! We are aiming to put 10 to 12kg on them in the next eight weeks before selling them through the yards or over the hooks. 11.01.2022 @shearingsolutions shearers ate these wool cutters for breakfast! We had a great day fleece weighing mixed age stud ewes. Averaged 7.1kg unskirted fleece plus 1kg av for bellies and and shanks = 8.1kg. The shearers still did their 40 a run as they combed beautifully - 5 shearers 30 bales pressed. 11.01.2022 We had some great scanning results this week including naturally joined, mixed age stud ewes at 165%! Stud maidens went 138%, mixed age flock ewes 154% with just 4.5% dry. Flock maidens just 5% dry. Ewes were joined for 5 to 6 weeks. The challenge now is to get as many through to weaning as possible!

10.01.2022 Grogansworth Merino Stud will be open next Tuesday 4th August from 10am to 4pm as part of the Elders Stud Tour. There will be a selection of this year’s sale rams on display. All visitors will be required to fill out COVID paper work on arrival. Due to COVID restrictions there will be no catering.
