22.01.2022 It gives me great pleasure to inform all competitors of the Groote Eylandt Barra Champs are back on after discussions with the NLC they do not object to the competition taking place subject to the terms and conditions on their Website. The Red line that is on the current map from Nulmbwar to midway through St.Nicholas Inlet is now considered to be the same as the top half of BMB. Meaning that access to Bennet Bay and the Walker river regions are now accessible to fish for the... purposes of our competition. Please visit the NLC website and complete the registration online. 14.01.2022 It is regrettable that I have to inform all anglers of this year's Groote Eylandt Barra Champs, that the comp will now have to be cancelled, after the fishing access changes announced by the NLC this week. Most of the waters that our competitors would usually fish, traveling from Groote Eylandt, have now been closed to recreational fishing. Our decision has been made primarily due to safety concerns. Specifically because access is now limited to more remote areas of Blue Mu...d Bay. It could be dangerous to encourage people to travel further and to access unfamiliar waters. It would also be unfair for those who have fished the first weekend of the competition. A full refund of entry fee is available for all competitors. Available at the members draw Sunday @7pm. 7/03/2021.
