25.01.2022 Super thrilled to help support Malmsbury Primary School with their fundraising this year. A really great community school doing wonderful work getting our local kids ready for a big future.
21.01.2022 This Friday we're downing tools to join the #ClimateStrike We stand with our kids. We stand with indigenous peoples worldwide on the front lines. We stand with scientists.... We stand with the politicians refusing donations from fossil fuel companies. We stand with conservationists, farmers, ecologists, producers and other professionals out there in the field doing the actual work needed for change. We stand with the blockaders. We stand with every day people doing their bit in their daily lives. We stand with the ever growing list of governments declaring a climate emergency (nice one Hepburn Council!) We hope you'll join us in supporting them too and take to the streets in your local area. If you need more ideas about what your business can do to help mitigate the effects of climate change, here's 7 to get you going https://buff.ly/2KbxI57 For more info and to see a rapidly growing list of businesses heeding the call of our amazing young people, visit https://buff.ly/2ZZ1vGH
20.01.2022 The latest Grounding enews is out today. Grounding: The Great Pause - https://mailchi.mp/7bb5400e79d5/grounding-enews-673647
17.01.2022 A huge congratulations to Green Collect for being Social Traders Awards finalists. Green Collect are our #1 stationary supplier and their extremely useful upcycled notepads are a key ingredient in our #GroundWork new member packs. Love your work gang, fingers crossed for the win!
16.01.2022 Fun fact: our food is too cheap. Another fun fact: food waste is one of the biggest drivers of climate change. Maybe if we paid true value for our food we would value it more, and our farmers at the same time!... Thanks Tellurian Fruit Gardens for sharing your excellent insights.
16.01.2022 Bogan Ipsum is the best thing about my job right now
15.01.2022 Fixing our soils is one of the most important forms of #ClimateAction and more and more Australian farmers are taking on the challenge. One of the most powerful consumer actions we can take is to support them in their work! This years Australian Food Sovereignty Alliance gathering resulted in an inspiring declaration which laid down a challenge for everyone to buy something from a farmer with a face. (You can read the whole declaration here: https://buff.ly/2L8CJJF) This weekend is our first local Malmsbury Village Farmers Market and I can't wait to get down there and fill my basket with fresh local goodness!
13.01.2022 And here we have a 94 year old smashing the internet and vacuous celebrity obsession with a single post. It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty, the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living. That's the kind of influence the world needs.
13.01.2022 Anyone who's ever received a Grounding enews will recognise this struggle!
12.01.2022 2020 has always been a big year for the environment. Honestly, I thought we'd be in better shape by now but hey here we are. Still, it's never too late to take action for the climate. In fact, this year is the most important year!... Loving this inspiring (as always) comic from @permacultureillustrator to help inspire some #NewPlanetResolutions If you need some ideas about what your business can do, head over to the Ground Up Blog http://groundupcreative.com.au/7-business-actions-climate-/ https://www.facebook.com/permacultureillustrator/posts/2591285870979297:0
12.01.2022 Hope everyone is ready for 2020. We've got a lot of work to do.
10.01.2022 Cannot love this enough Buy local, support local.

06.01.2022 Farmers are fantastic innovators. Give them a tricky situation and they'll find a solution or three. One of the biggest challenges farmers face is the risk of seasons failing. Under our current market model, if the season fails, so does the farmer. But one bad season shouldn't be enough to mean the end of a small farming business. That's where Community Supported Agriculture comes in.... Customers can support farmers by buying a CSA share at the beginning of the season. They then receive a share in the produce throughout the season. The farmer receives a guaranteed portion of income at the beginning of the season and can invest that in their products to help ensure their success. A share in the bounty - a share in the risk. We know the model is working well but we need more support from government, consumers and the wider industry to make CSA's thrive. Research to back up and refine what we know about CSA's is critical. If you are a CSA member and live in Australia or New Zealand, please consider filling in this survey to support research. There is an opportunity to contribute to food systems research being conducted at the Australian National University, which is looking at the role of CSA in facilitating transitions to more sustainable, healthy, and just food systems. One way to be part of the research is via a survey focussing on members who have participated in food CSAs in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand at the following link, which will be open until 20 July 2020: https://anu.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_egt2d295JCTnesJ Image: Ripe purple plums on a tree at Tellurian Fruit Gardens, Harcourt, Victoria, Australia.

06.01.2022 Absolutely loving this article and set of questions from Deepa Iyer. Understanding your role in a social or environmental (or both!) change ecosystem is a critical step towards learning how to manage your personal sustainability and help avoid burnout. For those of us who integrate our change making with our money making this understanding is even more important.... I've always played a role which combines Storyteller with Visionary. What role do you play? Are you sitting comfortably in that role or are you trying to play too many other roles as well?
05.01.2022 A great reminder for all of us. Shopping local provides for the future we want!
04.01.2022 Here's a really useful read from our favourite book worms at Squishy Minnie Bookstore. Our dollars are powerful when we spend them thoughtfully. Have a read and book a date with your local independent bookstore. They are truly wonderful places.
04.01.2022 Important reading for supporting our excellent hospo friends as they get back up on their feet
