21.01.2022 It's not just your water flexi hoses that need to be checked. This client was having a barbecue when the barby went up in flames, the hose had deteriorated in the sun, it got a pin hole then he had a flame ball out the side and up the wall. Luckily he was able to turn off the gas bottle without getting burnt. Spray a bit of soapy water on the hose before you light it, if there's a leak it will bubble up where the gas is escaping.

20.01.2022 Unfortunately, sometimes you don't know how well your house was built until you renovate....

20.01.2022 This is what happens when you wash the grease from your frypan down the sink. It looks like something else doesn't it!? After time the grease will cool and set in your drain and block it and no amount of hot water down the sink will dissolve it. Save on energy and your hip pocket, instead of washing it down the sink, let the fat set in the pan then wipe it off with paper towel or pour into a container, then give it to someone to use as burley the next time they go fishing...... or wash it down the drain and call Ground Up Plumbing next time it blocks!

18.01.2022 Nothing like coming home from a holiday to no hot water. This is what happens when your PTR valve is seized, the water in the tank got too hot and the valve couldn't open to release the pressure so the tank exploded. Check your valves every 6 months to ensure they are working, it might save you $5000. And if you can't get on the roof to check them, then give us a call and we'll do it for you.

16.01.2022 Looks like this might be my last job before lockdown which could happen at any time. Stay safe everyone. Wash your hands. Cough into your elbow. Tell your family and friends that you love them. Keep informed but don't forget to laugh along the way. And most importantly, don't flush anything other than toilet paper or tissues down the toilet, because I and the majority of plumbers besides a few freaks, don't really want to touch your poo....

15.01.2022 Nothing like doing a renovation on a new house, the client decided they wanted wall mixers for their basin instead of the standard mixer taps, unfortunately the hot water system pipes were in the way but a bit of swearing helped me through and it came up shmick!

13.01.2022 This photo is from a solar hot water unit, a simple maintenance check of the anode could have prevented this expensive disaster. An anode is made of sacrificial metals so the anode deteriorates instead of the storage tank and should be inspected or replaced every 3- 5 years. Following your manufacturer’s recommendation for servicing can greatly improve the lifespan of your storage hot water system. When was the last time you had your anode inspected?

10.01.2022 If you don't want a renovation of your bathroom or kitchen cabinets then check the flexi hoses. This one was installed by the owner and bought from a big green warehouse. Yes you can change them yourself and they only cost $5, but when it bursts the insurance won't pay out as it wasn't installed by a licenced a plumber. Covering the pipe with electrical tape won't fix it either....

07.01.2022 I was told on the phone that this persons shower was leaking so they put some silicone on the taps but it kept leaking. A little hint, siliconing up the taps won't stop the leak. Call Ground Up Plumbing and we can sort all of your leaky taps that are getting harder to turn off!

This little beauty had been leaking for a while and the owners didn't realise until they received a high gas and water bill. Read your manual about periodical maintenance and maybe go to Bali for 2 weeks instead of buying a new hot water system.....
