22.01.2022 Group 61 has come under the auspices of Wesley Mission Brisbane (WMB) as at a special meeting convened on Thursday 30th June 2016, conducted by President Rebecca Pini and secretary Amanda Goddard, and with about 30 members present. The meeting at Wesley House in Brisbane city (next to the Albert Street Uniting Church) was followed by a celebration on the 9th floor. Group 61 founder John Fox said in his speech that the merger was akin to a marriage, and he hoped that the offsp...ring - the future - would thrive with the change. Geoff Batkin, executive director of WMB, said he looked forward in joining with Group 61, as its aims paralleled those of WMB, particularly to created an inclusive society for those who were isolated. In the booklet produced to commemorate the event Mr Batkin states "We believe in the work of Group 61 and look forward to joining together to continue to provide this important service in our community". Group 61 would provide a management committee under the merger. See more
