18.01.2022 BROKEN. DEPRESSED. UNINSPIRED. . This pretty much sums up the guy on the left.... . On the eve of my first ever INBA bodybuilding comp, I suffered a serious neck injury (doing weights of all things - how’s the irony?) which saw me go through double fusion surgery on my C4/C5 vertebrae. The recovery process was the most emotionally challenging thing I’ve ever had to go through. Not a lot of my mates would know much about this part of my life as I kept it pretty close to my chest. . The aftermath of the surgery left me unable to do ONE SINGLE PUSH-UP for 3 months. That’s not an .exaggeration. It was then a further 7 months of popping tramadol/ endone painkilling cocktails to get back to some form of uninhibited base strength. I’ll never forget not being able to feel the razor blade on my neck as I shaved due to the nerve endings being cut from the surgery. . The result? I spiralled. . I emotionally unloaded on food and blew out to a whopping 95kg. For a guy that’s only 168cm tall, that should give you some perspective. . But eventually, as we all do, I hit a snap point. I’d had enough. I had a young family to support and I didn’t want them seeing their father drown in this pitty party story I was feeding myself. . I decided to start small. To put my faith in the things that I knew worked and to let the rest look after itself. And eventually (6 months later) the picture on the right was the result of honouring that process. . Start small. A lot of a little will eventually add up to a lot. . #goals #honourtheprocess
