25.01.2022 The three stages of finishing that pink tri on Sunday... The hard push to the end, smile while being passed the finisher medal while eyeing off the bubbly and then the big cheese for being handed that glass of bubbles! Life is balance after all ... #whatsyourstrong
24.01.2022 If the thought of gyms closing is getting you down and you dont have much spare cash to get yourself equipment to do home workouts you are in luck! Both these items come in under $20 from kmart! They arent perfect but in this current situation theyll definitely get you through! Continuing to exercise is so important and since I now have bulk free time Ill post regular workouts you can do from home with these little bands and body weight its amazing how much strength you ...can still gain without using heavy weights #whatsyourstrong #keeptrying #activeliving
22.01.2022 That swingset you bought the kids thats sitting lonely in the backyard is a great substitute for a gym! #traininginisolation

21.01.2022 Tip #1 - remember to train your back! You may not have a cool set of ropes in your yard like I do but you can still train back.. Generally speaking any type of pulling motion will train your back. If you have no gym equipment put two chairs next to each other and sit a broom handle over them from there you can do Inverted rows (or body rows as some call them).... If you have resistance bands wrap one around a pole or your feet and pull towards your belly button. Failing that fill a bucket/water container/Jerry can and do one arm rows with them #whatsyourstrong
21.01.2022 Exactly one week until scans are back at YMCA Bowen Hills!!! How has winter affected your training?
20.01.2022 Running into 2020 like...
19.01.2022 Only 1 more sleep!!! Have you booked your spot yet?
19.01.2022 I love coming back and catching up with everyone, I wish Brisbane wasnt so far away!! #whatsyourstrong
19.01.2022 Earlier in the week I mentioned how important it is to have a physical, measurable goal but what happens once that event or milestone has been reached? #1 dont stop! One thing I can guarantee is that youll feel amazing when you get there so use those positive thoughts and feeling to keep going even if for a week or two its just enough to maintain what youve got while you assess yourself and decide whats next. #2 dig deep within yourself again! You might be perfectly happ...y staying where you are with what youve achieved and thats great stay in your maintenance phase pick a similar event/test in 10-12 weeks to keep you in check with your training and eating. Maybe you want to improve your time or do something more difficult, thats great too! Pick your event and make a plan. #3 Remember to keeps things realistic, fun and for you! Life will get in the way of your plans from time to time and thats ok! It keeps things interesting, less boring and it makes you more resilient. #whatsyourstrong
18.01.2022 Getting enough activity in when you work a 9-5 is tough! Its even more difficult if you have to commute to work and even more difficult again if youve got kids. Finding an activity you actually enjoy is a key part to staying active! If its something that makes you happy its easier to make the time for it, youll look forward to doing it and youll be a happier person in everyday life.... What activity makes you happy? #whatsyourstrong
18.01.2022 Weekends are for fun activities with loved ones! #whatsyourstrong
18.01.2022 Was a proper sweaty workout today! Tack this finisher onto the end of your workout for a bit of fun 7cal row... 6 laps forwards and backwards bear crawls (8meter laps!) x4 No rest! #whatsyourstrong
18.01.2022 Solo Saturday Training complete! Ill start posting workouts and tips for training at home again, its very easy to overtrain certain muscle groups when youve got limited resources and we dont want any injuries - theres enough going on in our lives at the moment! #traininginisolation #whatsyourstrong #justmove
16.01.2022 Staying active on holidays is easier than most people make it out to be. James goes to the extreme and brings his wind trainer and bicycle along with us () but me I like to keep it simple.. Today I read my book by the pool then to cool off jumped in and did a few laps with James. You dont have to keep your holiday exercise as intense as your at home exercise but it is important to keep moving.... #whatsyourstrong
16.01.2022 If you are like me and hitting the exercise pretty hard in isolation theres a few key things to keep in mind - they all follow a similar theme... Overtraining Adequate recovery... Not enough variety If you need a rest day but cant handle the thought of not training for a day do something different - big ab session if you never do core, light cardio if you never do cardio, simple strength if you never do strength or mobility if you should move better than you do. Variety in training is so important and if you are utilising this extra time for your health and fitness you may as well do it properly... Build muscle while improving cardio fitness and move better - yes if youve got the time and are willing to put in the effort it is all possible! #whatsyourstrong

14.01.2022 Waking up earlier than normal is tough but worth it!! May is about making a promise to yourself to be better for you, what will you do today? #whatsyourstrong
14.01.2022 We were all beginners once, feeling vulnerable about our presence in the gym/class/pool/run. If you arent comfortable approaching someone to offer help give them a smile, nod or wave - you could be the reassuring friendly face that helps them stick to their new lifestyle choice. #whatsyourstrong
14.01.2022 Happy hump day everyone!! Remember adjusting to change takes time dont be disheartened if your week isnt going to plan! Plan, reflect, adjust, adapt... This is week 5 of working a normal job for me and only now have I managed to keep my regular exercise routine around work hours and feel ok. Its tough and tiring in the beginning but when you get into the habit youll feel better for it. A few things to keep in mind Start small with the exercise/activity or youll be too exhausted to function. Eat nourishing food itll help you keep your energy up and your mind clear. Watch your caffeine intake if you consume too much you wont sleep well and then just to get through the next day youll need even more caffeine - its a vicious circle! AND Have fun! Enjoy the activity you are doing if you hate it you wont prioritise it instead youll find any excuse not to do it! #whatsyourstrong

13.01.2022 Following up from my last post - 3 perfectly good back exercises without fancy gym equipment. No they arent perfect; in an ideal world those chairs for the Inverted row would be higher to get full range of motion. The water in the old protein bucket wouldnt slosh around (though hello extra core activation) and the tyre wouldnt make me filthy but they work my back muscles and didnt cost me an arm and a leg to set up so happy days! If youve got spare cash to throw at gym e...quipment in this time thats awesome you are keeping someone in a job! But if you dont thats ok too, Ive got your back!! #whatsyourstrong #backday #liftheavy #nofancyequipmentneeded #justmove
10.01.2022 Another productive day in isolation - Arms and Shoulders 3k run Abs ... The ab workout is up on the team training page #whatsyourstrong

08.01.2022 2 years ago today I said goodbye to my Brisbane training family. I still miss you all so much and feel like it was only yesterday we were so involved in each other's lives!!! I don't post too much on this social media anymore, I've gotten very slack especially with covid - as everything continues to relax I will plan a trip down even if it's just for coffee, it's well overdue!
