24.01.2022 Being a candidate for The Borough Council was like learning to ride a bike - you pedal as hard as you can and hope you don't fall off. Thanks so much to all in Team Groutfortheborough - you know who you are, please feel warm inside with that knowledge. Thanks also to all those who supported our campaign with a vote - if I get on I will do my best to live up to your expectations.
23.01.2022 Ah the signs! We do have some good ones, BUT please can we remove the ones we no longer need, let's see the ones hidden by foliage, maybe straighten the bent or drooping ones, have restrictive and interpretive signs where they are needed. I could go on, BUT maybe you could add to this ...
20.01.2022 The Borough early 1900s: showing Queenscliff with it's fishing boat harbour and the rural allotments of Point Lonsdale in the background. What we do influences what this looks like 100 years from now! If you get this, please encourage more people to look at the Michael Grout - Candidate for Borough of Queenscliffe facebook page, and to LIKE it if they do like some of the themes they see.
20.01.2022 Friday 23 October - last day to vote for your preferred Queenscliffe councillors, and either mail your ballot or post it in the box in the foyer of our town hall. Then we just wait, and wait, ... until about 4 November, as postal ballots arrive from here and overseas to be counted.
19.01.2022 groutfortheborough's heritage walks in Queenscliff led by Bill Brown. Our town is rich with stories from first people times to European explorers, from Borough proclamation to early tourism, from military involvement to present day. Thanks to Bill and supporters who attended the events this weekend. @rosebillbrown
17.01.2022 Finally reached the climax of this election - on this fateful day we can get Biden into the Whitehouse and put Grout into The Borough.
16.01.2022 Everything to gain - have a punt on groutfortheborough.
14.01.2022 Come on, our skate park needs a make over, and has done for some time. And, while we are in this area, or near the hall, how about we build a bike track in the Borough with the help of some trail bike users!
13.01.2022 Our Sports Club Monahan Centre - a great example of what we can do together. The upgrade started with a lottery win and a bequest, followed by small government grants, then the Borough chipped in and a final top up by public subscription to get the first stage completed. The work was carried out by local tradespeople and suppliers, led by Merv Godfrey. This is now a much better asset for our community and a testament to what we can do together. Thanks Merv, Bill, Keith, the funders and Council as well as all the other people who made this happen. Brendan Monahan Wendy Cohen
13.01.2022 We can do better than this: the only acknowledgement that this is Wadawurrung country is that sign (fourth in the line) at the entrance to the Borough from our ferry. You cannot find much else - the middens are all buried in the long grass. Surely we can do more to express reconciliation. Our boardriders are arranging an acknowledgement on the new door of the engine shed, designed by indigenous people. What other meaningful things can we do?
06.01.2022 Stunning coast and heritage - everyone should marry here. It's good for our local economy too - for accommodation & hospitality, caterers, photographers, florists, hair dressers, beauticians, celebrants ... 03.01.2022 The Borough election 2020 is a postal ballot. Number each of the candidates from 1 to 11 in your preference order (I'd be stoked if you put 1 GROUT). Place your ballot in the ballot envelope, sign and date it, seal it in the postal envelope. Then either post it before last collection this Friday, or hand deliver to the ballot box at our town hall.
01.01.2022 Voting is compulsory for Borough of Queenscliffe residents - ballots must be posted by last collection on Friday 23 Oct, or placed in the ballot box in our town hall. This is your moment in the sunshine of democracy.
