23.01.2022 Dear valued patients and families, To protect you, your family and our staff form the Covid-19 pandemic, we are following and adopting preventative measures from the Department of Health. We ask that you kindly reschedule your appointment if you are experiencing fever, sore throat, shortness of breath, returned from overseas within the last 14 days, or have been in contact with someone diagnosed with or testing for Covid-19 infection. Your privacy will be respected.... Coming for your appointment * To facilitate maximum interpersonal distancing, your next appointment may be rescheduled to minimise the number of patients in the waiting room in any one time. Please try to be punctual for your appointment and please limit to one extra person accompanying the patient. * We ask that additional extra family members wait outside of the office. We understand that some patients will need to wait perhaps in the car with other children. * As long as you have your mobile phone with you, we can update you and make the next appointment while you are outside the office. For now, we will continue with our normal business hours. We are monitoring the current legislation and consumer sentiment and acting accordingly. We are primarily concerned with being available to provide necessary care to our patients. We encourage, keeping all dental appointments for ongoing active treatment and preventative care. Please ask to speak to Dearne at reception or Dr Prana Kar if you have any concerns. Temporary Reception Room Changes We will be removing communal items that may be touched by multiple people throughout the day such as magazines, toys, brochures. There will be hand sanitisers located throughout the clinic, please help yourselves to these Before and After your appointments. Infection Control We have always used ADA mandated cleaning and disinfection protocols for all surfaces in our treatment areas. We use ultrasonic cleaning pressure and heat sterilisation for all non-disposable instruments. Our clinic is cleaned daily. Additional Measures Our patients may be asked to take disinfectant mouth wash before treatment. We will be disinfecting commonly touched areas, and all door handles at regular intervals during the day. To stay informed please check regular updates on our Facebook page and website. Your health and safety are of the utmost importance. We wish to thank you for taking the time to read this and your cooperation during these times. Grovedale Dental Team

17.01.2022 SPRING IS IN THE AIR TIME FOR THAT DENTAL CHECK UP- PREVENTION IS KEY You say I have no pain, why should I visit the dentist? Our mouths need to be checked on every 6 months to ensure that our teeth and gums are healthy and that you are doing well with your oral hygiene at home. ... When you visit the dentist we check more than your teeth. We look at your jaw and its function, the health of your gums and soft tissue, the way your teeth align, as well as check for any visual decay, we need to take X-Rays approx. every 2 years to check for hidden decay (decay can hide between the teeth). We may provide professional cleaning, oral hygiene and advice. If your mouth is not healthy it can result in the need for costly treatment, pain, infection, the inability to chew well. Healthy teeth and gums means that you can eat, speak and smile with confidence. Seeing your dentist regularly means that any oral health issues can be detected early or be prevented. Don’t delay your dental appointment any longer call (03) 5244 2444 or you can book an appointment via our website on HealthEngine.

02.01.2022 How much sugar are you drinking? It’s more than you think Did you know that a regular 600mL bottle of soft drink contains around 16 teaspoons of sugar? Regular consumption of soft drink and other sugary drinks, like energy drinks, sports drinks, iced teas and fruit drinks, can lead to weight gain and obesity. This increases your risk of serious health problems, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, stroke and some cancers. Sugary drinks can also lead to ...tooth decay. So before you reach for a sugary drink, stop and think about the impact it can have on your health. Follow these tips and Rethink Sugary Drink: Find out how much sugar is in your favourite drink at www.rethinksugarydrink.org.au/how-much-sugar Be wary of health or nutrition claims check the sugar content on the nutritional panel If you're ordering a fast food meal, ask for water instead of soft drink Carry a water bottle so you don’t have to pay for a drink If you're thirsty, have some water first See more
