25.01.2022 Wow! What a great Outdoor Only Learning Day with our new fire pit. We have regular gatherings around the fire during our Outdoor Only Learning Days for eating, crafting, talking, singing, storytelling and lately DRAWING! Each child has their own sketch book that only comes out for our special Outdoor Only Days. Have a peek at some of their pictures of the new fire pit and gathering circle.

The chickens like to dig and scratch around, peck and eat and escape from their chicken run! Once we have some suggestions from our Grove Community including the children we will discuss and vote and let you know the outcome!

17.01.2022 Here is a great article about the importance of movement in the early years. It has a great description of the vestibular sense/system. One of the senses we can all learn lots more about! This is an important aspect of our Move to Learn program.

08.01.2022 It is a cold Outdoor Only Learning Day today but the fire is keeping us warm..... the children have been bush architects, constructing with sticks, leaves, bark, flowers, string and other natural materials. We believe that a shelter like this in our local Kaurna language is called a Wurlie.
07.01.2022 Here is a real life version of a few stories on high rotation at Grove Kindergarten @grovekgn Find a copy of Alexanders Outing by Pamela Allen or Make Way for Duckings by Robert McCloskey. Then show this video of an amazing duckling rescue
07.01.2022 Maps have been a big part of our TWO excursions this week. Many of the children connected the pictures and symbols on the maps with their experiences of walking around the gardens. This is both a literacy and a mathematical experience. We are also reflecting on our experiences by revisiting the maps, the photos and our memories as we document our experiences in a variety of ways... if you have a few minutes at drop off time come in a watch the movies that have been made on the big screen. Take some extra time to talk to your child about their excursion or even better, revisit the Botanic Gardens or Carrick Hill with them and let THEM show YOU around!
06.01.2022 Look who got their birthday badge at Kindy today!
05.01.2022 Lets remember all the other ways we can help our world through using resources in sustainable ways. Reducing our use of single use plastics (where safe and appropriate) is good for all. Bring food and drinks to Kindy in reusable containers! Reduce comes before reuse and recycle!

04.01.2022 A Monday podcast..... Have you ever wondered what makes a good toy? Is the creation of toys driven by good design, what children need or what they want? This is an interesting discussion about the origins of toys, the universality of blocks and a bit of futuristic thinking! ( I hope the link works)
