11.01.2022 What can you do after tomorrow's Timely Application deadline? The main items: 1. You can still apply - but at $119, it will cost you more. 2. You can change you...r preferences - this includes adding, removing and changing the order of your list. There is a small list of courses that cannot be added as preferences after the 30th and are linked to below. 3. Pay your application fee. The fee is determined by when you first submit your application and not when you actually pay. So if you're a 2020 Year 12 and you submit your application today, you will lock in the $41 amount and it will not go up after tomorrow's deadline. You have until December to make that payment. If you apply after 5pm tomorrow, your fee will be $119. Non-Year 12s hoping for a November offer should apply by tomorrow's deadline and pay by 5pm 4 November. 4. Submit results documentation (mostly relevant for non-Year 12 applicants). So, if you're intending on applying for 2021 courses, apply now to minimise your application processing fee. 05.01.2022 This is long, but I am annoyed about an injustice! Our education system pressures young people to implement career and course choices when they are in Year 12. Yet lifespan lifespace theory tells us that Year 12 students are at the Exploration stage of career development, which spans approx. 14-25 years. During these years young people face three developmental tasks: 1) exploring self and future course & career options; 2) specifying course/career preferences; 3) implementin...g course/career preferences. Young people vary in career choice readiness. At 18 many Year 12s are unclear about their post-school direction. Generalist degrees, e.g., humanities and social science are great options for those who are not yet ready to commit to a course or career choice. The Aust. Government’s proposal to increase fees for humanities and social science degrees, discriminates against those who, simply because of their developmental stage need more time to explore via generalist degrees such as Arts or Social Science.
