24.01.2022 Sometimes when it all seems too hard and I wonder why I don't just settle for the convenience of the 'system', I go into the garden and get inspired to keep trying...even when the lizards are eating the strawberries I thought I'd pest-proofed!
16.01.2022 Today's the day for me to check out my garlic and start planning when to harvest. After 7 years growing garlic I'm still learning, so this info will assist.
03.01.2022 Assisted with harvest by lovely Lara back in November, I finally got to the clean up stage with the garlic. Pretty happy with the yield.
02.01.2022 Home from a 17 day holiday to my veggie garden. Note to self...DO NOT holiday in Summer! Despite the beautiful efforts of my neighbour who watered, everything is looking a bit lack lustre. I need to confess that there are times when I feel that growing food is all just a bit too hard. The ongoing struggle against possums, rodents, cabbage moths, birds etc.etc. brings me down repeatedly. In 2021 I need to refocus on how to make the whole exercise of growing food more sustainable. Last year the talk was all about PPE - Personal Protective Equipment. This year I am declaring the year of the VPE - Vegetable Protective Equipment. I think it's time to go hard core on the netting and floppy fence front.
