24.01.2022 SPEAKER - ALLY NICOLOPOULOS Ally Nicolopoulos has recently completed a PhD at the Black Dog Institute investigating the motivations for suicide attempt among Australian adolescents and young adults. Ally currently works as a postdoctoral researcher examining the links between bullying and suicide in young people, and has previously spent a number of years practicing as a psychologist in a range of settings. ... Ally is extremely passionate about mental health research particularly suicide prevention and intervention - and strongly advocates for the inclusion of ‘consumer-lived experience’ in all aspects of her work. On her spare time, Ally is a boxer and competes around Australia. She is a fighter in all areas of her life, and we can’t wait to hear her story on Monday. See more

16.01.2022 Friends. These are unprecedented times. Your health and safety should be of paramount importance. However all of us are feeling the squeeze. Post bushfires, and in the current situation, many people connected with the hospitality industry CANNOT work from home. Their businesses depend upon people walking through their doors.... In countries around the world, restaurants, bars, cafes and pubs are being closed down. Whilst we understand the importance of this, we also know that having these places to return to, once normality resumes, is paramount. The word ‘restaurant’ comes from ‘restoration’ - a place where you go to be restored. We will all need some of this in the coming weeks and months. GROW Assembly is committed to the future of the Australian hospitality industry, and while it isn’t much, here’s what we are doing for now. We’ve bought gift vouchers from the following independently-owned restaurants. We’re auctioning them off (via the link in our bio) and will use funds to buy more gift vouchers, and do it again. We’ll keep doing this until we can’t sell any more vouchers or things are back the way they should be. Help us help the hospitality industry. A concerted effort can hopefully assist in saving jobs and livelihoods. Please bid through on the auction through our website and share where you can. Thank you and stay safe.

03.01.2022 Inspired by the positive messages from @themadfeed Mad Monday. Original words came from @johnnyclove @danielclove but echoed and expanded upon ideas that have been foundational for GROW. The belief that hospitality is an art and a craft. That there is nobility in the professionalism of such fun and great work. That true hospitality is the essence of customer service, and that is applicable to any industry. That you can be great at what you do, with care and passion. GRO...W has always been about all facets of the food, wine and hospitality industry, but the principals we believe in were formed through service. Rock on. See more
