25.01.2022 Enjoyed showcasing fresh seasonal produce to create a Spring Pizza in a video for @sakgf online learning resources. I chose artichoke, golden beetroot (including their leaves), asparagus, new season garlic, Tuscan kale (also called cavolo nero), leek, broad beans, baby turnips with fresh rocket, parsley and rosemary from the garden. . Basic pizza dough recipe from The Cook’s Companion App and book (links in bio) and I used a mascarpone and ricotta mixture in lieu of tomato-...based sauce. Fresh produce was topped with shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan along with a drizzle of the braising oil. Delicious! @lisamontague . #springpizza #sakgf #cookingwithkids #seasonalcooking #thecookscompanion See more
23.01.2022 This exquisite first course is a labour of love as not only does it feature double-peeled broad beans, peeled baby turnips and artichokes trimmed to the heart, but also properly prepared shelled peas straight from the bushes (you could of course use baby frozen peas). . Spring ragout of artichoke hearts, turnips, broad beans and peas recipe is from ‘Stephanie Alexander - Lantern Cookery Classics’ and is now on my website (link in bio). For anyone who is a little hesitant when it comes to preparing artichokes, I’ve also linked a ‘how to’ video on the recipe page. . #springragout #seasonalcooking
18.01.2022 Not only has Princes Street Primary School produced a forest of broad beans, but they’ve also been harvesting Elderflowers from a neighbour’s overhanging tree and are turning it into beautiful Elderflower Syrup. Well done! @sakgf #cookingwithkids #elderflowersyrup #princesstprimary
13.01.2022 Flannel flowers so lovely in this week’s vase.
12.01.2022 Incredibly proud that this book of mine has just had its 24th printing! First published in 1996 @penguinbooksaus with the convenient portable version available from the App Store since 2013. A labour of love and still a work in progress - I had no idea how much The Cook’s Companion would change my life. . #thecookscompanion #gratefulheart
12.01.2022 Colour co-ordination. Pink tea tree and a carpet of flowering thyme. Spring lifts the flagging spirits
12.01.2022 What a wonderful day I have had for my 80th birthday. Still recovering from so much love.
11.01.2022 The parsley and thyme are nearby, but rosemary and sage are the spring showstoppers.
10.01.2022 Delicious dessert as finale of lovely lunch at Ten Minutes by Tractor, magnificent rebuild after tragic fire. @10xtractor
08.01.2022 Thoroughly enjoyed my chat with Jonathan Green for his ABC radio program, ‘Blueprint for Living’. The lovely opening birthday messages from Nigella Lawson, Ben Shewry, Karen Martini and Annie Smithers were a delightful surprise. If you’d like to listen in, I’ve added a link in my bio. @abcradionational @nigellalawson @benshewry @karen_martini @kittensmithers

02.01.2022 Stunning Balnarring Chardonnay to start lovely lunch at Port Phillip Estate and leading onto kingfish with lovage and buttermilk dressing. We have magnificent regional restaurants. Let’s all support them! @portphillipestate
01.01.2022 This exquisite rose-scented geranium has come with me to many homes and perfumed quite a few creams and cakes. Not all rose-scented geraniums are the same. . See my early books for sponge, and several other recipes in The Kitchen Garden Companion - Growing (link in bio & signed copies available from @sakgf ). Rose-scented geranium is also wonderful in raspberry and rose-geranium sorbet, ice cream, with rhubarb... any time you would normally infuse vanilla in milk or cream, try using a few leaves instead. . #cookingwithrosegeranium
