25.01.2022 I met Peter Botsman at the Kangaroo Valley markets the other weekend. He told me he is trailing some native foods at his biodynamic cattle farm Eramboo and he sells whole animals on his website. True but a quick google showed there is a little more to the story. Spending his time between between Kangaroo Valley and Arnhem Land he has worked in many areas including aboriginal economic development and as secretary of the indigenous stock exchange and campaigns for constitutional recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. I delved a little deeper finding Peter’s writings on many topics. So many that are weighing on my mind. How can Australia embrace its native foods and agricultural practices. I can’t wait to visit his farm.. so so many questions...???
24.01.2022 Our family had a very beautiful and deeply moving weekend with Lauren @kooricountryfiresticks connecting with country. The ceremony surrounding the cultural burn seeks permission from the spirits and Mother Earth for a good burn, which does not hurt the trees, soil or animals. We could walk on the ground minutes after the fire had passed. The fire allows the country to rejuvenate. Thank you to everyone involved, for sharing your knowledge. We all felt truely grateful to be invited. If you have an opportunity to attend a burn I can not recommend it highly enough. 21.01.2022 @ruralandremotementalhealth asked us to share what we do to look after our #mentalhealth We certainly don’t always make it the priority it should be. Some weeks I exercise, see friends, eat well and get enough sleep... and some times we work long hours and it all goes out the window. For me, being in nature = wellness and being grateful for all I have. I live by the saying that when the kids are bouncing off the walls - take away the walls. Starting the @growloveproject has meant that everyday we have conversations with people who are growing the love. Hanging out with people who share our values and are doing great things, keeps me super energised and hopeful for a #brightfuture . Susie
