22.01.2022 REBECCA PATERSON- Tree House Paediatric Occupational Therapy GROW Psychology & Allied Health welcomes its new consultant occupational therapist, Rebecca Patterson. Paediatric Occupational Therapy (OT) provides support to the child/parent and others involved in the childs care, so that the child can engage in their daily occupations of self-care, productivity and play. Rebecca has worked as an Occupational Therapist for over 25 years, with ten years experience in both adul...t mental health and in paediatrics. With a Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Therapy, Rebecca has worked in private practice, community health, early intervention, child mental health and school-based therapy. She has worked in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and now Australia. Rebecca has worked with children of all ages and a wide variety of diagnosis, with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) being a specialist area. Rebecca has an interest in working with pre-school children helping and supporting them in their daily occupations of play, self-care and productivity (kindergarten skills). Rebecca continues to enjoy the challenges of helping school aged children with their classroom performance (e.g. handwriting, planning & organisational skills, focused attention & behaviour) and their play and social interactions. Rebecca brings a great understanding of how a childs family plays a role in therapy, and works closely with both the child and their parents to achieve their goals. Rebeccas sessions are goal directed and focused on occupation first and foremost. When not at work, she is busy trying to raise two healthy and happy boys, cultivating a productive vegetable garden and swimming.
