25.01.2022 Now this is an exciting development that was long overdue!

25.01.2022 Some interesting results from an international survey - Australian's are considerably more shy of trying new products than the global average. In fact, on average we are 20% less likely to try something new on the shelves. Brand confidence plays a significant role in their decision making with 58% of respondents saying they preferred to buy new products from familiar brands and 54% saying they preferred to purchase new products from local or large global brands.

25.01.2022 Someone has a new toy... what do you think of FW's first creation?

24.01.2022 While there isn't as much info in this article as I would have liked, it confirms that 63% of official complaints made about TV advertisements come from women. The 40 - 54 age group accounted for 30% of all complaints received, followed by the 20 - 39 year olds. And what were they complaining about? Most offensive were ads featuring toiletries (razors, deodorant, tampons and sanitary pads), followed by vehicles - skewed by a Holden ad that referred to 'bloody caravaners'. (I'm tipping the grey nomads were highly offended by that one!) Read the full story....

23.01.2022 What an exciting advert... love to know what the budget was!

23.01.2022 Some happy news for Australian produce growers!

23.01.2022 We're officially letting the cat out of the bag now... Grunt Media are delighted to announce that Tanya McPhee is now a partner at Grunt Media! We're looking forward to her contributions to our business and yours...

22.01.2022 Don't anyone tell Tanya McPhee, but I'm secretly looking forward to trying some of the Magnum chocolates when they hit the stores in October.. Intense Raspberry, Almond Classic, Salted Caramel.... yummmmmmmmm!

22.01.2022 I really enjoyed reading this article, it provided affirmation for some difficult business decisions I have had to make. If you're sitting on the fence as either a consultant or a client, wondering whether the 'fit' is working out, it's probably time you both moved along.

22.01.2022 Interesting to note that according to this survey, IGA has the highest level of customer loyalty, with Woolworths second, Coles third and Aldi in last place. However, Aldi's market share is increasing. Interesting to note, Peter Piccone & John Piccone.

22.01.2022 Great news for independent supermarkets - it would appear that IGA supermarkets are picking up Woolworth's customers and seeing growth in their marketshare. Click on the link to read the full article!

22.01.2022 Consumer confidence surges however wages have not... What will this mean to the retail sector in August 2015?

22.01.2022 A little late in sharing this article but the results are still current. Outdoor media is enjoying a massive resurgence on the advertising market. Your shout Lee Campbell from Go Transit Media Group!

22.01.2022 The pending evolution of Australian 'brick & mortar' department stores: it would appear there is room for improvement. If we can offer one word of advice to all retailers out there, it would be: MAKE SURE YOUR WEBSITE IS MOBILE ENABLED or prepare to perish...

22.01.2022 An interesting result from a survey on 'loyalty' programs. It's a shame they've called them loyalty programs as I believe that customer's aren't so much interested in being 'loyal' as much as they are interested in being 'rewarded'... None the less, it's encouraging to see that the general consensus in Australian consumers is that of participation.

21.01.2022 Go NZ - leading the way in recyling food & grocery bags and packaging that aren't suitable for kerbside recyling collections. Fantastic news for our environment... would be great if Australia followed suite.

21.01.2022 No surprises in this story, really. Newspapers have been struggling for a long time, trying to compete with TV, Radio and now even Mobile Digital is denting their black & white armour. Personally I feel they still have a place in the communication mix, they just need to get more competitive with their rates to hold on to a share of the revenue.

21.01.2022 An interesting insight into customer reward programs...

20.01.2022 A comprehensive campaign to be rolled out, that's for sure. I wonder how many consumers will 'soak' up the message. Pun intended of course.

20.01.2022 All hail the imminent arrival of a fresh campaign for Mt Franklin water starring Josh Lawson and Jennifer Hawkins... and a little humour! Bring it on!

20.01.2022 And I quote, "During the past 100 years women evolved as consumers faster, more powerfully than men. Today, in western economies, women increasingly out-learn, out-earn and out-live men. What’s more, they now drive most major household purchase decisions for example they buy and influence more new car purchases than men." 19.01.2022 And the Lord said "Let the kids LOOM" and so they did...

19.01.2022 An interesting read... Hamish and Andy, radio's golden boys have had a win in Melbourne but failed to make an impact in Sydney. Unfortunately the article doesn't mention Brisbane's performance. One of the interesting notes in the article regarding the average performance in Sydney is the reference to their performance being as a result of the breakfast team's average performance. Southern Cross Austereo are confident that their breakfast team will improve and that will ensure Hamish and Andy's ratings will too. I guess only time will tell.

18.01.2022 Good news for retailers - indications suggest a strong 4th quarter to come!

18.01.2022 Looks like the general populous need to spend a little more time (sporting a little rubber) between the sheets!

17.01.2022 Interesting article claiming that Australian consumers are concerned about the increasing prices of groceries. According to Choice's report, 78% of consumers said that their biggest cost of living concern is the price of food & groceries. 85% say the household bills & expenses have increased over the year, electricity is the biggest concern with fuel concerned 69%..

17.01.2022 New Australian research on the power of TV advertising in generating sales has been commissioned by 'ThinkTV'.. Can't wait to see the results - the good, bad and the ugly...

16.01.2022 The age old conundrum which is a big issue with radio as well - finding the right balance between recognising the commercial reality that advertisers need and want to be able to reach people using this medium, however if you take it too far, it 'turns readers/followers/listeners' off as the content is too commercial.

15.01.2022 There are quite a few stories emerging about digital and Facebook advertising at the moment.. This story about Proctor & Gamble's use of Facebook in conjunction with TV advertising is interesting - who are reducing their highly targeted Facebook advertising and increasing their TV spend to increase their overall reach...

15.01.2022 This article espouses three lessons to be learnt from the successful launch of Pokemon Go. 11.01.2022 National Geographic dominating social in the US A freedom filled TVC from Call of Duty feat. Burgers Kit-Kat approaching breaks in a new way

10.01.2022 Interesting reading for our retail clients: "This brings us to the most important component of customer loyalty: know thy customer. What does your customer want? Where do they shop? When? Why? You get my drift. This comes down to data and insights loyalty program data, sales data, third-party data, whatever you can get your hands on to find out more about your customer. It’s no coincidence that Woolworths has recently bought data firm Quantium, and you can bet your bottom dollar that this acquisition will form a major part of Woolworths’ revamped customer loyalty play. Value is more important than ever. But if you think you can focus on price alone without any regard for customer loyalty, then you’ll be in for a rude shock."

06.01.2022 Consumer confidence reaches highest level in one and a half months... despite volatility of financial markets associated with the devaluing of the Chinese currency last week.

04.01.2022 One interpretation of this article could be: "With fragmentation of audiences across a plethora of mediums increasing, the best way to ensure your brand gets the attention it deserves is to be as creative as possible." That is the advice I give to clients... avoid safe, dismiss passive... take a leap, throw your brand out there as creatively as you can to engage with your audience and draw attention to yourself! Easier said than done though....

04.01.2022 This is a really relevant article for businesses, marketers and agencies operating in regional Australia.

04.01.2022 So DJ's, one of Australia's most iconic fashion retail stores, has opted to create a spring/summer campaign that will intertwine music with fashion. While this is not a new concept, the execution of the production sounds very different with the music apparently leading the creativity and design to create a music video rather than a traditional TV commercial. Interesting.

03.01.2022 Now here's a good news story for everyone involved... especially those that are involved in the marketing. Coca Cola cut their costs and poured the savings into increasing marketing and the result is......profit is up by $AUD 700 million year on year!

02.01.2022 I think if we do stuff that is fucking awesome it still works and it still gets cut through. It's just the average shit that no one wants to see. We're going out there preaching you have to actually earn that interest. It's not something that you can assume in your audience and most of the purpose pieces are saying let's tap into what matters to people, deeply, on an emotional level, a societal level, a cultural level. 01.01.2022 A great article/interview with Supre General Manager about the power of engaging with their core demo (female teens), evaluating the wants and needs specific to them and providing support and advice both digitally, (online) and in-store. This includes information specific to their industry, ie. fashion tips, but also other key issues such as bullying and other social issues.
