25.01.2022 The view from the front verandah is could give guests the idea that we are back into summer, esp. as it is quite warm and dry today ...

24.01.2022 A flight showiing the fog missing our place but surrounding us and our neighbours.

23.01.2022 Green is deceptive. mostly weeds.

22.01.2022 The afternoon smoke is even worse - I can see the smoke in the house and just wonder how long before the smoke detectors do their thing. These shots were taken with either an 80mm or 35 mm lens (full 35mm sensor) so any compression of space to enhance the smokiness is minor. Admittedly for the inside shot of a light I exposed for the LED light and the not ambient lighting in the room, but this is pretty much how it looks.

21.01.2022 The forecast was for lots of rain, so far 7.2mm seems to be falling amazingly short of the predicted quantity, but the compensation is that a rainy forecast tends to suggest a cooking morning ... so a Panettone seemed the way to go today ... time of year is just not important !

20.01.2022 This afternoon's local entertainment

19.01.2022 Overnight low temperature occurred just now (06:55) and is 32.78C - it was still 37C a little after midnight.

19.01.2022 Today has been interring with very high winds and dust in the air causing low visibility. Some thunder and lighting and small rain squalls - the last if which was almost 3 minutes in duration but proceeded my favourite information line on the weather station. (look at the bottom line)

18.01.2022 Tonight’s third course ... tarte citron... my pastry, Fran’s lemon filling an artistic chocolate finish.

17.01.2022 Well it is always good to get an auto-email from the weather station "New high temperature record for Gryphon Lodge B&B Weather Station! Previous high was 44.17 on 2019-01-17 14:24:00 +1100. New high is 44.22 Edit this text using WeatherCat's email preferences to suit your needs...... WeatherCat TimeStamp: 13:42:31 04-Jan-20". Of course it may climb higher yet - but there is no point in having a stupidly hot day if the records are not broken

17.01.2022 This is smoke from fires, presumably in the snowy regio to our south east as we had a very light SE breeze roll this in at about 8 am

16.01.2022 It isn't only Fran who gets to be busy when we have 'stuff' growing... this bubbling concoction is our own tomatoes, basil and onions ... the second batch in less than a week.

11.01.2022 On a hot and now very windy day staying inside and playing around with the computer seemed a good move. I have added a new page to the Gryphon lodge Weather output - you can still go to our weather page and see nice graphs of the weather, updated every 25 minutes, but now you can also see a page of almost live data (updated every 1 minute!), just displayed as text, which I find is sometimes easier to read. It is not great on a small screen but anything from a big smartphone screen upwards should work nicely. To see it go to http://gryphonlodge.com.au/weather.php and then click the link at the lower section of the page.

08.01.2022 A timelapse (1 shot every 30 seconds for 2 hours) of the fog this monring.

07.01.2022 My latest attempt at Panettone looks and smells good, I wonder how it will taste...

06.01.2022 Another foggy morning

06.01.2022 My first ever attempt at Panettone! It smells and looks good, so hopefully it will tease good too

05.01.2022 Beautiful morning... we were out early weeding around fruit trees and watering olives and fruit trees because it refuses to rain. At this time of year the wood swallows visit and in a low Hakea replanted a few years back we found this next with an egg in it. Then the crop duster flew over and I changed lenses to get the shots of it. What draws these unrelated events together is in the shot where you see a wood swallow chasing the plane. I'm also glad I didn't have my drone up at the time.

03.01.2022 down through the fog

02.01.2022 This beautiful creature has been hanging around a little bit the last months. Wise to keep one's distance and treat him/her with respect.

02.01.2022 We have had clear skies for days now but today a layers of smoke sat along the northern horizon. Some of this may be local as ther are some haystack fires in the area. Also you will notice a fruit trees now wrapped up for Christams... no but certainly to pretect them from birds! The cherries have been picked and eaten but the rest have some time to go.

02.01.2022 Our first cherry crop: 2 small trees which have not been in the ground very long. The smaller one (shown) produced about 85% of these cherries.
