24.01.2022 Key Focus Area - Elimination of Rubbish Dumping in Reserves, Parks and Forests Seeing rubbish dumped at Reserves, Parks and Forests is frustrating. Unfortunately, it is the minority that ruins it for the majority.... Each year I collect trailer loads of rubbish dumped from these locations and dispose of it. I'll be advocating for a proactive solution to this issue. (fines don't work) My initial ideas include but are not limited too: Tip vouchers for each household Tip vouchers for those who need some financial support. Green waste bins Hard rubbish days What ideas do you have? Comment below #forwardwego Authorised by: Michael Carr, 2B Hurd st Portland

13.01.2022 KEY FOCUS AREA - Community Infrastructure Improvements As a councillor, I will advocate and support community lead improvement projects. As one of the volunteer project managers for the past 6 years on the Hanlon Park center improvement project. I understand how tough it can be for volunteers to make improvements, from working through various local government approvals to managing budgets (that have minimal cash in them) to coordinating a large number of volunteers, whilst ma...naging the schedule to fit in with the multiple user groups needs. I love nothing more than getting involved in infrastructure projects and seeing them through to the end. #forwardwego Authorised by: Michael Carr, 2B Hurd st, Portland https://www.facebook.com/284456724922533/posts/3713996658635172/?extid=WUzPPwtXdEmLY3oP&d=n

10.01.2022 WOW - It happened thanks to you... The community has a fantastic team of 7 that come from a diverse range of age groups and bring a range of different attributes, skills and experiences to the team. Firstly congratulations to all the elected councillors. I must also acknowledge the power of work done by the previous councillor's Halliday and White over the past 3 decades. ... It is hard to write how I feel, I have put in a consistent amount of effort over 2 decades as a volunteer in the community and a power of work into the past 3 months, I am just so happy that the community entrusted me to represent them for the next 4 years. I also need to thank my wife, Carly for the support she has given along the way. #ForwardWeGo https://fb.watch/1zhvYJcaKU/

09.01.2022 KEY FOCUS AREA Jobs for the people and advocacy for major sectors As a councillor, I will advocate for the major sectors, so that they continue to provide jobs for people within the community. Growing up on a beef farm, having worked on the first wind farm constructed at Codrington, being on-site at Portland Aluminium for 13 years and now as the Infrastructure Manager for the Port of Portland. ... I have developed a bank of knowledge and an extensive network of connections within Industry groups that will enable me to advocate for any sector successfully. Ensuring we have the best chance as a community when it comes to maintaining the jobs we have and generating more jobs from any potential investments in the future. #forwardwego

06.01.2022 Key Focus Area - Support for Volunteers and Community groups As a councillor, I will advocate for the Volunteers. There are 29% of people in the community volunteering within the Glenelg Shire. I have always been proud to be part of that group.... As a volunteer for the past 20 plus years, I believe I have gained the knowledge and experience to represent volunteers within the community. As one of those Volunteers, I know what is involved in administering a club, running a raffle, obtaining sponsorship, operating a canteen, putting a sports team on the park, applying for grants, and working through council processes to get a positive outcome for the community. #ForwardWeGo Authorised by: Michael Carr, 2B Hurd St Portland
