17.01.2022 Let's get started! Works to construct Youth Challenge Park - a state-of-the art pump track, skate plaza and #bowl - begin this week! The park, being built by The City of Albany behind the Albany PCYC on Sanford Rd, will offer improved access and multi-use spaces including an asphalt #pumptrack, skills park, #dirtjumps, #skateplaza, bowl, activity areas, pedestrian pathways and spectator viewing zones for all users and abilities.... A pump track will provide the major feature of the park, with a width for 6 to 8 lanes of varying challenging features and elements to suit a range of #mountainbike and #BMXskaters. 14.01.2022 South Coast Kayakers is a new group of paddlers starting in November. We are experienced sea kayak instructors, and are looking for Kayakers who are keen to pad...dle flat water, calm ocean and more dynamic ocean, increasing your level of excitement as you grow in skill and confidence. Imagine paddling from Emu Point around Breaksea Island, great chance for whale spotting, and not hard to do with the right support. We aim to paddle on Sundays and offer different level paddles to cater for all group members. There is no cost involved. Come on down to Emu Point beach near the marina on Sunday November 8th at 9.00 am and say hi to find out more, or send a message with your number and we’ll give you a call. 11.01.2022 Exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Officer to join our team for a part-time (3 days per week) fixed term contract (to 30 June 2021) to assist in recreational trail planning for the Great Southern region of Western Australia. The position is responsible for providing research, project management and administrative support to assist in the implementation of the Great Southern Regional Trails Master Plan. We are looking for someone who can:... Provide high quality project management support (including producing professional project documentation such as project plans, budgets, reports) and resolve and/or escalate any issues related to assigned project milestones Develop a Trail Building Network program to support best practice in trail building activities, including maintaining an online resource hub, develop resources, hold training events Provide secretariat support to the Great Southern Trails Reference Group including preparing agenda, minutes, reports and presentations Assist with development of funding applications How to Apply Closing date: 5 October 2020. Your application should include a cover letter of no more than 3 pages which addresses the Selection Criteria; and an up-to-date resume of no more than 5 pages which clearly details your skills and experience as relevant to this role. 11.01.2022 This is exciting news to stumble over The Bibbulmun Track Foundation (BTF) is very pleased that the $150 million investment package to support WAs tourism sec...tor includes money for trail development and upgrades - including $1 million for the Bibbulmun Track. Camp sites, shelters & tent sites are included in the upgrade but the most exciting part is the $100K that has been allocated to relocate the southern terminus of both the Bibbulmun and Munda Biddi Trails next to the Albany visitor centre in the main street. This will greatly improve the experience for end-to-enders in particular and increase visibility of the trails within the town.
