25.01.2022 The Police announced today that the Border will not longer be a checkpoint from next Tuesday, lets hope that we don't ever see this again in our lifetime! Now we can start to rebuild the damage done to our community in the last 9 months and hopefully Small Businesses will see their customers returning, after been messed around for so long with border restrictions and passes. https://www.abc.net.au//coronavirus-queensland-ro/12918782

24.01.2022 Our members had the chance to see the message that CCIQ is sending along with the GSGC Chamber and many other QLD chambers to all of the parties vying for your votes in the October State Election. This election will be one of the most important elections ever with the economic recovery from COVID 19 over the next 4 years vital to the State. The voice of small business, which employs 44% of the States workforce must be heard and responded to. Our State needs Small Business as much as it need big business. Our message can be easily summed up, SMALL BUSINESS IS A BIG DEAL! Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland

22.01.2022 The GSGC Chamber is seeking balance and a relaxing of the barriers to some businesses doing trade. We still have cafe's with less than half their regular patrons permitted, despite them following very strict Covid Safe plans and keeping of the details of all patrons for 56 days which is FOUR times the incubation period of Covid 19. The 28 days with no community transmission is close to elimination. Single figure community numbers mean tracing can be achieved, we proved that in QLD in the last few weeks. We need to have a clear understanding of when businesses will be permitted to trade their way out of the economic crisis caused by the health crisis. The Economic Crisis will last much longer than Covid 19 Crisis will! Lets start dealing with that NOW! https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au//queensland-considers-sla

22.01.2022 Small Business employs 44% of all working Queenslanders. Small Business is a BIG Deal, we're calling on all parties to support Small Business at the October Election!

21.01.2022 Complete this survey, and pass it on to other businesses in the area to get you voice heard! GSGC Chamber working with CCIQ because Small Business is a BIG Deal! Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland

21.01.2022 Thanks to Annie Noon from Fotoforce Photography for these great photos of our breakfast last week!

20.01.2022 WHO'S RIGHT? WHO'S WRONG? AND WHAT'S THE PRICE? Last week, when Facebook blocked Australians from viewing and sharing "news content" on its platform, we saw what role it plays in Australian society. Community groups, charities, sports clubs, art centres, unions and emergency services all rely on the social media giant. Its platform plays the role of an important public messaging board. JOIN OUR LATEST FORUM DISCUSSION AND LET US KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS: https://www.gsgc.org.au/.../who-is-right-who-is-wrong-and-wh/ This forum will be monitored. Healthy debate and expressive discussions are welcome. Bullying and degrading comments will not be tolerated.

19.01.2022 Greenmount Beach Surf Club remains a proud sponsor of the Tweed Heads Coolangatta SLSC. The development of Surf Life Saving at Coolangatta began with the State’s first recorded rescue in 1909 by a group of local, aspiring Surf Life Savers. Modelled on a group of New South Wales Surf Life Savers from Bondi, they were equipped with a recently purchased demonstration reel, line and belt. #southernGC #SupportTheSouth #SLSC

17.01.2022 The latest retails sales report was an increase of 4% for August. Don't be lulled into thinking things are getting better! Retail sales are being driven by the supermarkets, DIY, homewares & appliances (we're all building or cleaning up our nests) and fitness gear. There are major stores in QLD supplying online shopping for Melbourne, which skew the sales reported. Small Ma & Pa businesses are still down as much as 50%, some even more, fashion is not selling (they just got th...eir winter stock from China!), the little coffee shops in the malls are trading with half their seating still and are struggling to remain viable. Don't let the success of the BIG businesses hide that there are many, many, many more smaller businesses who are floundering, with no $$ help and restrictions to trade like the 4sqm rule in place, or a 50 patron cap even though things like Cafe businesses are keeping details of every customer for 2 months (4 cycles of possible Covid cases!) Now is the time to look at lifting the physical restrictions for trade for shops with a Covid-Safe checklist in place! Small businesses need your support too! 13.01.2022 The latest data on Australian mortgage deferrals make SAD reading for QLD especially the Gold Coast. Six of the ten worst hit suburbs are in Gold Coast! That reflects the hit we're all feeling to tourism, from overseas and more importantly interstate right now! This foreshadows the bad times to come without much better support from the State, the first thing they can do, which has no cost to the State is to open our borders to all Australians! https://www.abc.net.au//mortgage-pausing-pain-in-/12717866

09.01.2022 This is a MUST ATTEND for all small businesses, it's on Zoom, so you can even take part from the comfort of your own office!

06.01.2022 One of the most important things that we're doing right now is advocating for the thousands of small businesses that are the engine room for Queensland. You all need a BIG voice to be heard above the din of big businesses and the Unions, who have a direct route to our State Government one way or another. Your voice can be heard by completing the CCIQ Gold Coast Pulse Survey, opened today until Monday 5th October, this is your opportunity to tell us how your businesses has been and is being impacted by Covid 19. Make your voice heard TODAY https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GoldCoastPulseSept
