16.01.2022 Congratulations Year 12 2020! Year 12 subject based results have been released, the first under the new Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) where external assessment contributes 25% up to 50% of the final result. 2020 Year 12s are the first to be awarded an ATAR calculated by the Queensland Tertiary Admission Centre (QTAC) using these subject results. What is an ATAR?... The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is the primary mechanism used nationally for tertiary admissions. It is a number between 0.00 and 99.95 that indicates a student's position relative to all the students in their age group. ATAR is a percentile rank, not a mark. Eg. An ATAR of 90.00 is higher than 90% of the group or in the top 10%. While we will continue to review the most suitable way to share the achievements of our Year 12s under the new system, we are excited to share the following: ATAR - 19 students (34%) received an ATAR of 90+ with 3 students obtaining a 99+ ATAR (ie in the top 1%!) - 38 students (68%) received an ATAR of 80+ Note: All ATAR stats are based on students who have consented to share this information with their school. Subject Results - 117 individual ‘A’ results achieved in general subjects across 41 students. This includes 3 students with 6 ‘A’results and 5 students with 5 ‘A’ results. - 21 students received an ‘A’ for an applied subject. While these ATAR and subject results might be in a new form, they continue our history of graduating Yr12s achieving excellent results. Along with students who are progressing into non-tertiary pathways based on qualifications commenced or completed in their senior years, these results are recognition of the ability and commitment of our graduating class, supported by college and family. We look forward to hearing of the next steps of the Class of 2020!

07.01.2022 It must be school holidays! All of our buses in the same place is a rare sight during term time. Apart from our morning and afternoon College bus runs, our buses allow us to access many offsite locations, activities and providers. This is a win for our students and for the many local businesses that offer the programs and activities.

07.01.2022 GSLC @ Googa - Then & Now Prior to the overnight solo, students do a short reflective bush walk in preparation, called the ‘Pockets’. The ‘Pockets’ involves a wander through the dense vine-scrub, that surrounds Googa, while listening to the birdlife and experiencing the quietness of the bush. Students then gather under a fig where they complete a journaling activity. What makes the ‘Pockets’ significant is that this walking track was made by this GSLC cohort 3 years ago when they camped here in Year 7. Since the ‘Pockets’ was made, it has been a key part of solo preparation for the senior students who visit Googa.
